I really need to ask an engineer about this stuff

Hahaha.. this is funny.. and so much how I felt when I came to this forum thinking to upgrade from my cheap little ego battery and ce4.

I was blown away by all the things I had to learn in order to vape.. and I have literally spend hours upon hours since trying to learn enough to use devices with a modicum of understanding.

I have never used an unregulated device, provari is my third variable device... the first variable device I had I didn't like so I didn't use it, and the second only adjusted within a 6 watt range (yes, I wrote it correctly, a 6 watt range not volt..) and I only used that a short time.

So honestly, I've not actually been using anything variable long.. I've spent a year+ trying to learn it though.. although I have a more difficult time articulating what I understand of it, as these are still basically foreign concepts to me.

An engineer I'm not! And time and time again I think I need an engineer to explain things to me again, just to be clear! :)

Oh no! Volts do matter. I guess that Bronze meant to say that the target is watts because those reflect the power and thus how much electricity in the circuit is converted into heat which in turn is what we seek.

If you cover one of the letters you have the formula to get it!

I equals to current, V to voltage and R to resistance

Now, power (watts) can be calculated in 3 ways:

2 2
P = I x R = I x V = V / R

So if your resistance is fixed and you increase the voltage you will increase the current running in the circuit and because of the Joules Effect that electrical energy will be lost because it will turn into calorific energy (heat)

At least this is how I am understanding this vaping business, and because I'm still learning I'm not using any mech mods.

I like mine better... ;)

I'm not an engineer, I use kitties to explain things. This is resistance (a.k.a. "ohms")

@Tomasius74 Not the same kind of "soul," but I like this a lot too.

Nice! I bet you $ 1.00 that if after she plays a song you put some drops of e-liquid in the guitar strings you'll be able to vape it!

 It's a man. A straight man - married with kids. He used to be part of a musical style in Japan called "Visual Kei." The men dressed like woman, but extreme; like Kabuki. Here he is in a band when he was about 19 years old. He's the lead guitarist.

Ouch!

Well, gender and disguises apart, that's an amazing way to play a guitar

That first part is amazing.

I have played bass for over 30 years and consider myself a pretty good slapper. To do that on an acoustic guitar with such tight string spacing is an art that takes years of practice. Cool stuff.

When the singing starts? Not so much. LOL.

Bronzed,

Still and all........ glad for you, and Ms. 5 femme Lori, but we WOULD have enjoyed the mince. ;)

And YEAH, Qorax! (do adore that man)
Next time (if there is a next time) I'll invite you to the party. :)

Well @Bronze - If what your saying is correct, and that ultimately watts is all that matters and what we are solving for (rather than a fluid optimum performance where four factors are/can be fluid although must work together for optimum performance) than I have completely misunderstood the maths involved and what we do them for..

I figured if you knew your target watts, you could adjust volts accordingly, and vice versa - because performance (volts and watts) working together with amps and resistance is what creates an optimum performance..

Maybe I'm wrong and just misunderstanding the entire concept.. if volts doesn't matter and only watts do.

I'm going to have to figure out why volts don't matter at all in the equation..this is going to bother me..

Oh no! Volts do matter. I guess that Bronze meant to say that the target is watts because those reflect the power and thus how much electricity in the circuit is converted into heat which in turn is what we seek.

What Tomasius said. It all matters but watts is power and power is your target (look at your electric bill...you are charged by how many watts you use). We would have been better off if the first variable devices were variable watts instead of variable voltage so users would think watts is the most important number to be consistent with from atty to atty (or coil to coil).

Get your device dialed in where you like it. Then take note of the wattage. Going forward, dial in that same wattage and don't worry about the volts, amps, or resistance (ohms). Let your P3 or Radius or whatever variable wattage device you have calculate the rest of it.
