@coldgin96 ... any updates on Steel?
Yes! Thank you for asking!
Jackie took him in at 9AM. At 11:45 the vet called, said Steel did great, he was awake and, "full of energy." Told her she could pick him up tomorrow 9-5. Jackie said she is gonna be there promptly at 9AM. When I was done listening to The Doors, Jackie came in the den to tell me, "I miss our dog." She just repeated that phrase to me. I miss him too and can't wait to see him. Jackie said he's probably wondering, "Where's my mommy and daddy and who are these people?"

Two nights ago, I was laying on the couch with my head in Jackie's lap on a pillow. Steel kept messing with me by pawing me and acting like he was going to jump up on me. I kept saying, "OFF! OFF!" over and over. He wasn't listening. And then it happened, he pawed my face and it hurt like hell. Jackie let out a yelp, I jumped up, gritting my teeth and yelled, "You are not going to do that to me!" I was gonna clean his clock. I swatted at him about 3 times. He didn't run to the other room, he just darted out of the way like a ninja. Then it happened, I lost my breath and couldn't breathe. I was gasping for air like a fish out of water. That dog totally diffused the situation by totally submitting. He sat (like a dog sits when you tell it to) in front me of looking up at me into my eyes. The look on his face was saying to me, "What's wrong? I hurt you, you're mad and I'm sorry." I mean he just sat there looking at me like that. About 30 seconds later while I was doing my breathing exercises to get my breath back (I was still standing as I couldn't even sit down yet), he laid down on his side across both my feet. I melted.
I love that dog.

Refreshing rain interrupted yard work, so I retreated to the porch to vape about it. And I remembered as a child and on rainy days, I'd watch raindrops on my window and try to guess which drop would race to the bottom of the window pane first. Or, I'd watch rain soldiers parade down the street. No rain, no races, no parades. My window is bigger these days ... the beat goes on.

I did that when I was a teenager upon discovering the things that were popular in the 70's. :D

I basically finished my painting job, I do have to put another coat of brown in the trim, but the bulk of it is done. I did not finish the yard work though, I will try to work on it later in the week. I go back to work tomorrow, and from what I heard yesterday, tomorrow will be a long day. It is okay though, I have had 10 days off total, I am taking it easy the rest of the day today. I am hoping that seeing that nice painted wall, will inspire me to do some more, it really needs it.

Steel is doing great! Aside from the pain meds and him a LITTLE more calm, it's as if nothing happened! Jackie picked him up this morning and when they got home, I asked her if he acted like he missed her. She replied, "Not really, he wanted to turn around and go back in the room where the girls were." Lol She thinks he doesn't really realize he was there all that long. They gave us like 3 or 4 pain pills to give him one a day. He's not wearing the cone of shame. The vet said he won't need it if he doesn't lick down there, but if we he does and we can't keep him from doing it, come get a cone. So far, so good. He started to a couple times but Jackie stopped him. He doesn't seem as interested as he used to. Just as soon as I put the foot stool on the lazy boy down, he came and plopped down on my feet on his back using his back leg intertwined with mine to keep him propped that way and he went to sleep. Jackie took a nap this afternoon and Steel went into his crate on his own and took a nap. They both slept through ZZ Top and are awake now. He is working on his second bowl of food and he has drank 3&1/2 bowls of water since being home. He just came and said hi to me and walked away.
We are glad he is home.

So who is taking turns and staying awake at night to watch Steel? LOL
Maybe give a med close to bedtimes in HOPES he sleeps through the pain and itchiness and doesn't try to get at the surgery site. Think I'd want a cone just for when I was sleeping and couldn't keep an eye on him. Dunno ... all situations, circumstances and dogs are different though.

ConGrats @classwife for being one of the winners of the 4th Giveaway!!!

Yeah..... you might be right.... I'll bring it up to Jackie. If the vet would've been more concerned about it, she would've been too.
Thanks!
P.S. I just said something to Jackie before clicking on Post Reply. She says he seems to be doing fine and only went for it that one time. I dunno. I'll pray about it...
