My thoughts exactly…except for the quitting part. I don't ever intend to…of course who knows years down the line.

But if you really quit some day…don't quit us please!

I don't have any plans on quitting, I also have no idea of where I'll be at in the future with regards to vaping. I have noticed when I'm sitting around bored I vape a lot, and when I'm busy off doing stuff, I can go for hours with just a few puffs here and there.

Mooch says it's good for the cells to be stored at 3.7v and that's what they are at when you get them. So that's good. I have no good way of getting a charged cell to that level. I have a lot of time on my hands, but not nearly enough to check a battery in a mod every hour or so to find out when it drops to that level.

I raised the "storing and not rotating" thing as something bad. Right now, I don't know which is worse.

So, like Enaud, I'm going to just leave the new ones on the shelf until I have to use them - and hope for the best.

I think you'll be fine storing them (long term storage at 40% battery charge). I opted to rotate all of mine, new and old alike. However, I still haven't quite figured out the true mean of "long term" storage. A week? A month? 17 years? No matter. I keep a handful fully charged (and for me, that's at 4.1v), and the remainder at around 3.75v. Each time the stash of "ready to vape" batts gets used, a few more get charged up to the requisite 4.1. It's working for me, and, , ,

I can't recall it (or where) now either, but I'm pretty sure that Mr. M. said not to fridge our batts. Jury's out tho. I'll definitely post if/when I get that info.

In the Navy, we were not typically allowed to have refrigerators in our work centers aboard ships for sanitary reasons and all that. The way we got around it and were able to have a frig in our work centers was to submit a chit up the chain of command for permission to have a "battery storage locker". It was common and accepted practice to store batteries in a frig. But those were alkaline batteries.

eBay can be such a life saver when you are looking for old, rare, obscure things. I had a clicking sound in the gear cluster of that Old Daimler bike, and went looking for five speed free wheels, Suntour...well, there is a guy that has a boat load of early 80's new old stock parts, and I found one that would work. I brought the part and the wheel into my bike guys shop, and he was really surprised I found the part in new condition that I needed for that old bike, he did have the tool needed to remove and install the gears and voila, no more clicking and a brand new set of gears on the back of that 37 year old bike! Whooohooo!

Oh, they won't be junk five years from now. I've seen estimates that self life could be anywhere from 5 -15 years so who knows?
But... as long as you have them just sitting there why not rotate them? What's the difference? Good ones hold a full charge for at least a good month. I know this because I keep 2 spare 18650's out in the Jeep and once a month I exchange them with freshies and use 'em. Besides, I read it somewhere.
Look, I have eleven 18650's I keep in constant rotation. Why eleven? Because they came with ProVari's I was gobbling up at the end. Some of them are better than two years old.
You could very well be doing the right thing by stashing them, hell, I don't know. Personally, IMHO, I just don't see the difference in storing them or rotating them, "six of one, half dozen of the other." Know what I mean?
Oh, and by the way, storing those 18650's out in the Jeep for a month in Michigan sub-zero artic temperatures had no detrimental effect.
One more thing, if I'm still alive in five years (not supposed to be - man's estimate), I would like to know the condition of those batteries if you still decide to stash and not use until then.


EDIT: I'm still using batteries from 2015. But, like I said, I have eleven I keep in constant rotation so they don't get used as much as they would if I only had 4 of them. See what I'm saying? Back in the day, when I only had four in rotation, they barely made it 2 years.

I figured I'd chance it on just letting them sit at the resting voltage they left the factory with, and check them once every six months/ year and see where they are at. I'm using an IPad that must be at least 8 years old now, and the battery in it seems fine to me, so there's that...I don't think anyone really knows how long these things can sit and still have decent life cycles left in them.

My ipad had battery problems after 2 years.
Took it to the Apple store and they exchanged it for a brand new one !

I bought an ipad brand new, late last year. I bought it for the sole reason and purpose to use the TruePlay speaker tuning software application to set up and tune my Sonos home theater/stereo speakers to the room and that's all I've used it for and that isn't often at all. Otherwise, the ipad is stored with wireless disconnected, not logged into Apple or anything and powered off completely.

Thing is, the ipad battery was running down fast even in storage. It isn't an uncommon problem apparently and there are many recommendations on various Apple forums to correct. I don't know what I did so I can't offer any advice to anyone with the same problem ... but somehow I either finally mucked around and fixed it or it worked itself out with updates and such or something. Now I check the ipad every couple of months if I think about it and the charge is within 2-3% it was when I stored the ipad in a drawer. Got lucky I think.

It's not that much, but it is that much.

Unless you're logged in with a non-EU address the price shown includes the VAT tax which is roughly 20%.

But the dollar has weakened against the pound and the current rule of thumb for the conversion is also about 20%.

So it isn't, but it is. It's not 205 GBP, but it's $205. Royal Mail shipping has always been 15 pounds every time I've ordered.

Hope that was sufficiently confusing - it's Friday evening and one has to find fun where one can.

I've had an eye on a Dicodes (tube) mod for as long as I've had ProVari mods. I was researching those 2 when I decided just over a couple of years ago to invest in one or the other. I chose ProVari of course and one of the many reasons was because of availability in the U.S.

Now I see Dicodes has an authorized dealer with a website here in the U.S. Not sure if that would have made an ultimate difference back when I chose ProVari over Dicodes but nice to see regardless. If I ever do get a Dicodes it will ship from a U.S. source. Don't know if I'm allowed to post the website or not but it's easily found with a google search and may be linked on the official Dicodes site ... dunno.

EDIT: I checked the official Dicodes site and the USA dealer IS NOT listed as an official "Shop Partner" ... don't use !!!
