Aww, he's a good kitty. Give him what he really wants - the box it came in.

Man, not gonna comment on the musicians but WHY is it/was it de riguer for bands to have their members show of their bare chest? Or even more horrifying perhaps, SUSPENDERS?

Yea, even Bono did it. It's good song... I always watch a lyric video.... It' s just DUDES, I only want to see your nipples if like, you are taking me backstage to wine and dine me and shower me with cash. Freddie Mercury excepted, he can just shower me with cash.

Bono especially should not have done did it. They were wide suspenders and a porky phase for him.

I don't even know how musicians keep a STRAIGHT face, although to be fair you have to have a wide streak of exhibitionism to even BE in a band so maybe it's not as hard.

I occasionally give my cats a paper shopping bag with the loops snipped off, they go nuts with it. that or leave a random cardboard box someplace in the house...they never play with "toys" marketed towards their humans

I read someplace (yes, I realize that beginning part is not exactly a "certified by truth" sort of statement) that in the US, people spend more on their pets than their kids.

When I go to petsmart or wherever I kind of believe it. I try not to think too badly of the human race when I go there-- I mean, there are lots of pet owners who never HAD kids, and also, you can own far more pets than you can kids over the course of a life time, etc.

Also there are the "pedigree" owners. My older brother has done that like 5 times, it just sort of seems to make sense to him, but to me plopping down 2K for a puppy makes NO sense at all. All of his pedigrees get expensive problems.

My happy mutts picked up from certain death tend to be more robust, smarter, and far less health problems.

Although I must admit I draw the line at like, cancer treatment. This is mainly because many humans I have known that had cancer were MISERABLE. I would hate to do that to a pet with them having no clue they were being treated, etc. I am also of the belief that if an "animal" needs acupuncture, it's probably the HUMAN that needs it.

Also, I do not believe in pet psychics. If I ever hired one, I would ask the psychic to like, tell me the pet's name (not vice versa which is what DOES happen) because the psychic should ALREADY know, am I right.

IDK this is just me. Pets sort of fall between "livestock" and "kid" to me. I'm not going to eat one, but well, I have limits. It was awful the first time my kid's dog got bit by the vet the antivenin quote was horrifying.... We did not have the money, nor were we sure the dang dog even FELL in the right dosing window. The vet made it sound SO dire that I was like, "Holy goodness should we put this pet DOWN I don't want her to get necrotic fasciitis that sounds like HELL."

Then the vet was like "no one would put a pet down for a rattle snake bite, that is like a very rare chance and we can just keep her comfortable for few days." So we did that and holy goodness was it CHEAPER. I was like, "Hmm interesting new tune."

Turns out for a lot of dog owners we talked too later, often the bigger dogs don't need much and especially ours she was about 90% Australian cattle dog and not really that susceptible to snake poisons. She got bit twice more and she was FIINE we just gave her tramadol for a few days.

Catching up from yesterday, the posts sent me down a Led Zeppelin wormhole. And like many times, I found that more info sometimes is not always what you'd like to see.

I was in college when Zep appeared; the first time I heard them was at about 3am while walking through the student union building. It was during the Vietnam era, and students chose that weekend to occupy the union along with other public gathering spots as a protest against the latest developments in the war. It normally closed at 10 pm or so and this was years before 24 hour stores. So the entire thing happening in an otherwise very staid and conservative environment was a bit surreal in itself.

The Union had an upper floor which looked like some sort of members only club. Walnut paneling, soft lighting, well padded leather furntiture. A guy was leaning against one of the comfortable chairs with his little suitcase record player by his side. I heard the opening bars of Dazed and Confused, that power minor key chord progression, and then listened to the otherworldly voice of Robert Plant. I can still sort of feel that visceral surge that went through me at realizing there were things going on in the world which were totally alien to anything I'd ever seen or known.

But anyhow, I ran across this clip on The Toob. Though their versions were clearly better, Zep wasn't nearly as creative as I once thought. They took credit for a lot of songs they simply covered or re-arranged. And yes, there's skills in doing that but it is not OK to claim the song as your own. The writer of the clip is a bit on the harsh side at times, but the songs played side by side are pretty damning.

Oh yeah - well known Zep copied riffs into their own songs.
Gotta be a half dozen lawsuits...
