Well just tried this. Simple to install, didn't have flooding issue, using RMV menthol juice ( all my juice is RMV), don't know if that's thick or thin. This was a successful mod.
Although I started with the shredded ptb's a few months ago, my problem was wasted juice. The blue foam was/is a good mod but user error for sure makes it great at times and finicky more often.
I can't tell yet how this performs long term but I like the initial results.
I love all of you modders triying to find the perfect cart. I appreciate the effort.

If you align the carts properly they will never melt and you don't need to cut them down. I saw the mega carts coming out and they are the same thickness just longer. When I get my mini I am going to try to find some clear pvc and make a small wide clear cart mod that holds a ton of liquid like I did with the 510 battery and tubes. I will try the ptb plug tonight and hopefully, since there is less material, I will not taste the berry. I think we're golden. I hope this plug holds up! I think I'll go make one now.

I use the "shake the cart" method with the blue foam as well. I'd rather not have to. Actually, I could have gone a little further before refilling but lately as soon as I taste the slightest hint of "end-of-juice" I refill. I'm looking for consistency at this point. If I can find something that allows me to consistently vape 8 plus drops that would be a victory!

I've experianced that a couple of times with the slug.. i think the fix is to just pat dry your slug inbetween refills and that will stop it from falling down below the lips in the 510 cart.

I've also experainced that too many times with the shotgun slug.. i've stoped using the SS and gone back to old faithful Slug.

I know what the main fix is, i just cant let the cat out of the box or someone else will beat me to the punch hehe.

I've got a new slug that i've been messing with since last night and its working great! Emping out the cart everytime.. Been using that while i figure out how to make the other mod.

This might be a noobie question, but here goes: carts are not good on HV devices... correct? Is there a cart mod that's acceptable to use on HV? What if I cut 1-2mm off the bottom of a 510 cart on the atty side to minimize melt factor while leaving just a slight amount of potential contact with whatever plug & the atty? Wouldn't this minimize melting cart potential under HV while maintaining wicking necessities to allow the cart to work, well, just so long as the carts actualy still long enough to maintain some contact with the atty-bridge? Either way, my greatest concern is with the first part as I'd like to know how to utilize a cart on HV so as to prevent constantly dripping.

The main prob is just not how close the cart is to the bottom.. its how close the sides of the cart are to the bridge. If you dont line it up right it will be touching the bridge. Also i'm not totally sure as i've never tired it but i believe if you trim the bottom of the cart it may not work right after that as the juice may bypass the bridge and end up in your mouth insted.. not sure as i have not tried it.. I've never really heard anyone else talk about not using carts cause of the melting cart problem.. usually its the carts not feeding the atty quick enough so they drip insted.

I've got a black silver bullet on the way.. hopefully here before Saturday. I'll post my results on the carts with 6 volts.

Ok so I made one already just like your pics. PERFECT! This is the first time I used a straw to hold anything from moving. I guess it is to make the ptb a tight fit? Anyway it was easy and it works awesome. 15 drops with the straw and ptb full in the cart. No leakage whatsoever. I thought it was less material though, like a plug. But I am not tasting anything but the keoke coffee so I'm golden. I guess last time the flavor I must have used was weaker than the berry on the ptb. If I get get this to hold firm into a glass, pvc or rubber tube, even if I have to put a straw in the tube, I will be able to make the carts I want!

Worked great with my vg and 510.

Just you wait. Lemmie know how much you love the SB... I know you will & 6V will knock your socks off. When I first got mine I was overzealous & hyper-vaped the hell out of it till I noticed a nasty taste. Thought I was just low on juice, nope melted cart- but I either didn't know how to properly line the cart up or my atty (as several I've had seem to) had an off centered bridge thereby causing friction where it shouldn't have been.
SB is where its at. & once I get my 3V LiFePO4 CR2's, my BB will too.

So far, this straw and PTB works the best for me on my 510. I do seem to have a bit of a leakage problem, though... and the ptb seems to still fall down a bit into the cart... ahhh, issues issues....

None of the other mods work this well... fluval/straw, spring mod/fluval, spring mod/blue foam, blue foam alone, etc... I always end up with harsh, burnt results or leaking. this is on standard 510 batts and a protege.

This ptb mod seems to have the most promise, though.

when I saw the pic of the teabag in the cart it looked familiar, like I have tried that before and with to much space, it will most likely flood the atty. So I did not try it. But after my recent sucess with the tulle I figured what the hell. THANK YOU for the perfect mod! Once you stuff that bag in that little straw the tea bag crams in there tight and holds a good amount of juice. the suction is a bit harder on the 510 but it is working better than anything I tried so far, and I have tried everything! Works even better with a 901 cart. Thanks again, Today has been the best vaping day I have had so far.

Kevin - I use Joye 510 parts only.

I guess I should have asked is are you using stock batteries or are you using higher voltages? Cart performance changes at the different voltages. I almost never use a stock 510 battery. I use a Protege which delivers 3.7 volts at 900mAh. I use the Pure Smoker PT which delivers 4.3 volts at 1500 mAh. I use a Pure Smoker Prodigy which delivers 5.0 volts at 900 mAh. These are all still 510 PVs.

One cart configuration will not perform the same at these different atomizer demands. Juice configurations will require changes also. This is why I am asking what equipment you are using in your tests. This may also be why some users are having success with your mods and some are not.

Hi Kristin, I have been following your mods and eclypes slug for a while now and have had some good results with both. The slug works with thick juice only. I have alot of Johnson Creek juice and so far I cant use it on any mod because it is so thin. After reading this post it inspired me to try something different. I used the two coffee straws on the 510, cut it to the lip, rolled up some tulle and put it in the straws. Drenched with chocolate truffle I then topped it off with a blue foam slug or a Buff Puff. Both work well but the BP seems to bring out the flavor more. I can finally have my JC! Lasts as long as the slug mod Thanks to you and eclypes and lets keep trying!! Tulle is a good sub for lipton pyramid tea bags but a bit more difficult to roll.
You may want to try this mod with just the tulle, because you don't have to roll it at all!

With extremely thin liquid, try this: Follow this mod exactly, but use TWO pieces of tulle/PTB, one on top of the other, instead of one. do everything else the same.

I don't have any JC liquid, or else I'd try it myself. But if you could test it out for us, that'd be great!

Try rinsing and drying the PTB before you use it maybe?

Aw crap!!!!! Major leakage all of a sudden! Back to the blue foam slug!
Ack!! Did you overfill it?? I haven't had any leakage on 3 different carts now - I'm on cart #3, a 510 round tip with mint chololate chip, and it's working as well as the others. I left the two other carts out last night and neither of them leaked at all.

Where was it leaking from?? Or do you mean flooding?

I think the perfect straw length is 13-14mm. If it's too short, it doesn't secure & squeeze the PTB properly. As an afterthought, I think the straw IS key - so use the straw, if you're not already.

This ptb mod seems to have the most promise, though.

Cut your straw a little longer. Make sure the PTB layers are spread out evenly, as well.

Another thought for thin liquid or leakage, you guys...

Try putting the PTB into the straw BEFORE you put it into the cart. Push it THROUGH the straw, so the tip comes out past the bottom of the notched end a couple millimeters. Then trim off that tip. Put the straw/PTB into the cart and trim as normal.

This should put a little more material into the cart to hold the liquid better for you?

If it's too much trouble getting it into the cart that way, I would recommend making your straw a millimeter or two longer. That will compress the material a bit more and should help with the liquid coming out too fast.

Um.. I just realized what time it was... something really isn't making sense here. I made the mod last night. Started vaping it at 9:30. went to sleep at 12. woke up at 9 and vaped the same cart. changed the battery. It is 1:16 and the cart is still vaping. I haven't had to refill it once! WHAT THE!?
That's around 7 freakin' hours so far and it is still hitting good and not leaking. The first and only one I made so far. This is awesome!

Kristins method is working perfect for me with the 510 cart and vg juice on the first try. I used the same tools except I pushed it in with back end of tweezers. The ptb is flowered inside the straw which has notches at the mouthpiece end. The open sides of the cart are facing the short side of the cart. The straw is about a 16 inch down into the cart. Piece of cake I made it last night in about 1 minute and it's working great still. I haven't had a chance to test how easy it will be to refill yet.
