An interesting blurb about this company here:

Purilum Joint Venture Sets Standard for E-liquids | Pitt County Economic Development Commission

A new company, that is not really new:

"Purilum, a joint venture with Alliance One Specialty Products and IOTO, USA, has 11 employees at the site and is committed to having at least 21 by the end of the year"

I like how a derivative of the word "pure" is in the new partnerships name. Wonder what the FDA thinks of that. ;)

And from Bloomberg.com:

"Alliance One Specialty Products LLC operates as a tobacco leaf merchant serving customers in the cigarette industry. The Company's products include flue-cured, burley and oriental tobacco. Alliance One Specialty Products operates worldwide as a subsidiary of Alliance One International."

Is this going to be BT's way of getting their cut of the vape pie? Go in through the back door, nobody will know.

Ah, I see the circle is complete. From Ioto Internationals website:

"Ioto International is the first flavor house in Latin America, totally dedicated to the development, manufacturing and commercialization of products to be used in Casing & Flavoring systems to be applied onto Tobacco."

"Our main plant in Campo Magro, Brazil, features the cutting edge technology enabling us to fulfill our customers' needs, all over the world. We are also starting our activities in a new plant in North Carolina, USA."

"The experience we offer to our customers is built on many years of engagement with big cigarette manufacturers and improved by permanent training."

You know, I would have thought that BT would have more carefully obscured their tracks when launching a venture such as this. But then, perhaps they are unaware of how ex-smokers turned vapers feel about them as an industry as a whole. Or maybe they don't care and know it's all a numbers game, after all, how many people are going to follow the money trail?

But, aside from my random thoughts, maybe this is what needs to happen in the emerging vape industry. A quote from Purilum in the media release blurb I posted above:

"Product testing by an independent toxicologist for safety and purity allows Purilum to meet quality and capacity demands for the future of flavoring, company officials said. Two of Purilum’s new team members, Dileep Vezzu and Roberta Veluci, are Ph.D. graduates in chemical engineering from East Carolina University."

Since they do have the financial capacity, maybe BT will spearhead research into making truly safe flavorants for vaping but then again, and I can't stress enough, ultimately the proof will need to be fully independent.

Purilum Flavors

I think these are a new product.
I like that they use low %s.
Anybody tried them yet?....
Ditto low %s and at a reasonable price. Like that they do not have a chocolate (extremely hard to get right for most blenders). Might be worth a check out for the non professional.

I have 7 of these in hand now. Only mixed two so far, the Vanilla Custard and Heaven. Keep in mind I'm posting this preliminary review without steeping.

The VC isn't like CAP or TFA, it lacks their diketone "spice", but it's nice. If I had to compare, I'd say it's closer in profile to Flavorah and EuroFlavor, though it's lighter (weaker). It has a subtle eggy note ala Inawera, but nowhere near as intense. There's no citrus at play like FA, or strange floral elements a-la FW, just clean lightly eggy vanilla. I don't see this as a "drop in" sub for CAP/TFA, it lacks the..."body" of those guys, but it might work decently (though differently) subbed at higher %.

Yes, higher %. To me this is not a low % concentrate. I'd put its strength on par with TFA's VC, slightly stronger than CAP V1. I used 10% (upped from a starting 5%) and it's fine on its own there with no steep. Probably can lower the %age with some waiting, but this VC doesn't seem as steep dependent as Capella's. Nice smooth and mellow with pleasant vanilla aroma in the vapor. Great.

"Heaven" is similar to FA Forest Fruit, though less concentrated. I'm not getting the bakery note that's supposed to be there, but I am picking up something vanilla-esque. This reminds me a lot of the old Liqua Berry Mix I used to love when I started vaping. I could vape this straight up as it is, but I like my Forest Fruit blends better. There's just something missing from this one, not sure what. It might improve with time. Again used 10%.

If these two flavors are representative of the entire line, I'd put the "concentratedness" on par with CAP / TFA, but not in the FA, INW, FLV, SC arena. Maybe I'll retract that statement later, more testing needed, ymmv.

I've also got the two tobaccos, Strawberry Biscuit, Cream Dream, Nilla Milk with Wafers, and Bavarian Cream and Yellow Cake for comparison to their namesake competitors. Trying those two next.

Strawberry Biscuit. Not much to say. Another decent strawberry. I'd put the strawberry more on the authentic side. Less similar to CAP sweet and TFA Ripe. Funny, I want to say it's a watered down clone of FLV Strawberry, but that's not exactly right either. For me, INW Shisha still has it (and all the aforementioned) beat. I'm not going to try and decipher the "biscuit", as I really can't taste but a hint. There is cream in this. It's decent. Only negative is it was pretty weak for me even at 12%. I don't know how I'd combine this. It seems already "finished".

Unsurprisingly, Bavarian Cream was essentially flavorless fresh at 10%. Before I up % I'm going to give it the benefit of the Bavarian doubt and let it sit. My hunch is it's going to be similar to CAP (not my favorite bc).

Heaven and Strawberry Biscuit are I think great for people who want to make fast and easy single flavor juice. This is not to say they're bad. Personally I already have recipes with these profiles that I like much more, so maybe I'm not so fit to judge.

I like the two tobaccos. Posted in the Tobacco flavoring thread about them.

Just got an email newsletter from Grant @ Nicotine River. They're having a sale on all Purilum Flavoring = 15% off with the code HOLIDAYS. Nothing in the email said when it expires.
That's been on for two weeks now. Used it when I placed my order. Hope you guys pick some up, want to hear what you all think of this stuff.

I have all the big Watermelon contenders, both TFA's both Cap's F.A. L.A. and INW. MF, and Purilium. I was not expecting much as most are quit weak by them self and need help to really build up a solid watermelon or watermelon candy. I took a gamble since I was paying outrageous shipping any way and bought a 4 oz. bottle of this. Considering the weakness of the flavor throughout the other lines(with the exception of M.F. that one is is hella concetrated but not really strong as in hold up or short steep times) I mixed my tester at a strait 10% and made 120 ml. of it all I have to say is WOW, this is it this is the watermelon I have been looking for. I mixed my initial batch less 3/28 it is now 4/1 and this is not a Apirl fools joke this flavor is a great stand alone candy watermelon at this percentage It took a only 2 days to blend into a perfect watermelon jolly rancher. I have been dreaming up recipes at lower %'s with help from the usual suspects Inw Cactus, Cucumber, Strawberry, Sour, EM, Hard candy, Sweet tart, and such have been very happy with the solid 10% stand alone.
#1 flavor Watermelon. By far my favorite to date standalone Watermelon candy out there that I have tried. This is the base I want to mix with for any combination, now I imagine most would say that 10% is way to strong to of mix, and it has a very strong taste at this level but I don't notice any off notes after a few days, and after a few days I notice it smoothes out to reveal a hard candy note that is better itself than a Hard candy flavor additive right of the bat. In next mixes I will go lower and try different things with it to see how it plays. I know its begging for friends but I really hate to break what does not need fixing. in conclusion I am very happy I went with a big bottle of this as is It will be ordered again sooner than later. If anyone comes across any of the must have purilium flavors that gets this kind of love please post notes and thoughts.

FWIW, I have the Purilum Sweet Tobacco in a test 10ml mix in my atomizer right now. I agree that it's not a low percentage mix. At 4% I taste a touch of sweet and a light touch of tobacco after a couple of weeks steeping.

It's a clean taste with barely detectable sweetness, but faint tobacco vape at 4%. 6% to 8% might be just right. I don't care for in your face tobaccos anyway. I was more of a light cigarette vaper before I quit in early 2011.
