Voltage Drop Myth:

Measured 4.03 volts at battery and on the active 510 connection on the Blade/Cylon. Same with my ChiGG and other mechanicals. So myth on voltage drop confirmed, it's bull..... At least not on a decently constructed unit. Bad craftsmanship and poorly connected parts will affect it of course, however testing under load is about just that "on the load" and it will change with each unit you connect to it. Voltage out at point of contact will not change for any reason other than battery drain.

So you are correct.

I still think any voltage drop is inconsequential in the big picture.
The goal of all of this stuff is to heat a small coil. That's it. We aren't powering medical equipment or airplane electronics here. As long as the coil is the ONLY component heating up, everything should be good. Adjust your mod to where your juice tastes good with your selected atty, and vape on.
The moment I'm pulling out an oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer or $100 Fluke to check a $20 atty tank, I know I'm taking this stuff way too far.

:laugh: My thoughts exactlys ! Always has been. Just gimme a good tasting vape :D I couldn't care less about all the numbers, watts, volts, mm's, cm's, etc., and all da other crap that goes with it. Lemme suck on the end of the freakin pv, blow steam out and I'm happys :laugh:

While I can agree with both of you, 'cause all the numbers and charts make me cross-eyed, all of these guys who are doing the testing and modding leads to more innovations and hopefully better quality in the products that eventually end up in our hands to use ;) :vapor:

And you feel the need to explain that to me ?

Yea the only numbers that matter to me anymore is where the vv limits at with various loads (coils). I dont want to put on a 2 ohm tank just to have half of my voltage range be unusable if I want to crank it up. For that figure I really like seeing the little power chart that pbusardo usually has in his vids when he reviews a mod. Not sure exactly how to best say it but if it says it goes to 6v it should go to 6v under a load too. If I happen to be using a 2 ohm coil and hit the devices limit at say 4v (with that coil) then if I want to turn it up a little more its pointless because all the sttings above 4v still really only put out ~4v and you dont know cept that its not hitting quite like you want...
But honestly I dont check anymore and only look for that now when I am considering buying something new and if I cant find it then - well actually it hasnt really stoped me anyhow so idk :D:D

i agree with all of you, numbers play a part when you go into the big boys.girls toys, but put a disposable in your mouth or a 510 stick and all the number mumbo jumbo goes out the door. it becomes irrelevant. The numbers have their play when you use equipment were numbers mean something like a vw mod, a evic etc... at the same time many people do want to know what voltage works best for the ohm of the item in question. so its all good

Totally agree with you Bad and Yiddle. While I'm an end user that wants my car to go fast and look good, I usually don't care how. But I DO appreciate the road and track testers that nerd out find the ways to make it better. Same for vaping.
(...perhaps that's not true entirely, i nerd out a ton on vaping equipment. I'm just not sold on voltage drop in an atomizer being that big a deal, in a mod, it is though.)
***Thanks GV for having such a great developer relationship with the manufacturers, helping make things better for all of us vapers!***

I suspect voltage drop doesn't even matter in devices that have RMS feedback loops (regardless of which mod it is, although I think vamo v2 is the only one dumb odd enough to support both AVG and RMS but ship in AVG.)

I found this explanation, which claims to be simple but .. well, they tried. :)

Just missed the whole concept, didn't ya?

That have WHAT??

That is a good and straightforward explanation of what RMS means.

Hey, BTW Disconn, congratz on your halo win today. :)

Yup. Retread the thread after work when I was less distracted. I totally missed the point there. Sorry guys!
...Now I'm waiting for the discussion to begin about the inductance of different coils affecting the output of the modulated DC current from our PVs.
Come on everybody, lets talk RC time constants!
Seriously, I'm just kidding.
