I always thought that the major downfall with cotton wick was that it hindered the ability to dry burn the coils. The Cotton wick will scorch. Am I mistaken in this understanding?

Yeah, no dry burn, but the cotton twine I have been playing with wicks like a ....!

True there is no dry burn. But so far my experience with it has been Pretty good. Still working the perfect size wick and coil but the taste is fuller and I no longer have the throat irritation that silica was giving me.

Okay, here's my preliminary report!
First and foremost, the looks:

  • This thing is gorgeous. I absolutely love the finish. I got the red one and it's not just a flat red color. It's deep red where the light hits and darker on the edges until you turn it. Very awesome. The cartos are nice looking, too.

  • One of the posts is a little cockeyed, which is a concern since the cap's plug doesn't cover it completely. I tried to push it straight, but it's really stubborn and I was afraid of messing it up. I'll update later if it's a problem. There's just one small hole in the post at the bottom which I thought might cause some wicking trouble.

  • The button is big, which makes it easy to accidentally push.

  • There's two small air vents on each side of the carto at the bottom.

  • Everything fits so flush and the button is so flat, I don't see how any kind of lanyard can be fashioned to carry this around aside from a pouch attached to a necklace.

The feel:

  • It's a lot lighter than I expected. Quite a bit lighter than a standard eGo battery. This is with the carto on it, but empty.

  • The finish is nice and smooth and the battery fits more naturally in my hand than an eGo since it's oval.

  • The mouthpiece is quite comfortable, though I'm not really fond of flat tips. Not much we can do about this, so I'll just deal with it. It's not like it's unbearable or anything.

  • The button actually is way too easy to accidentally push. There needs to be more resistance since it's almost flush with the battery and so large in diameter.

  • The parts fit really tightly! I was almost afraid I was gonna break it getting it off the battery and taking the mouth piece off! Hopefully it'll get easier after some use. One good thing about this is I doubt this sucker will ever leak. I don't even know if it's possible for it to leak out of the connector end with this type of connection.

The vape:

  • Filling was a breeze. Pop off the mouthpiece and drip it in. I didn't measure how much juice it took because it absorbed about a third of what I put in right off the bat. This was a light colored 80/20 (heavy on the PG) juice with 24mg nicotine. I'd wager I put in maybe 1.5ml total, but I'll measure it next time.

  • I got an extra carto and filled it with a darker juice. This one's sugar cookie flavored, 70/30, pg heavy and 24mg nic. It hasn't absorbed nearly as well as the first one, but it has absorbed a little. I filled it almost to the top of the post and it's gone down about 1/5 of the way over the course of an hour. Hard to tell with these tanks due to their shape. Could it be because the juice is 10vg thicker? I dunno. It might just be a thicker juice anyway since it's a dessert flavor.

  • The draw is fairly loose, but I like that. Some people don't so it's worth mentioning.

  • The vape is warm since it's a top coil. Tasty flavor, not as good as a Phoenix, Stallion or the Ce5, but good. This is the first tank, so it will probably get better over time. (edited to take out the statement about the flavor being as good as a fresh stallion. I don't know what I was thinking, Stallions are perfect from the beginning.)

  • It seems to be a bit of a juice hog, actually. It's going down faster than I anticipated, but I might just be vaping more since I'm trying to get a feel for it.

My final thoughts, as far as first impressions go, is that this is a very nice little PV! I wish I could have purchased a second battery so I could switch to another when this one goes dead instead of having to wait. It's fine, I'm happy to let the other alphas get one.

I hate to ask this, but would the other Elips tanks out there be compatible with this? Same connection type and size? I guess y'all wouldn't know, but if someone already has some on hand, I'd appreciate it if you'd let me know. I don't know if I want to wait for these to possibly hit the main site before getting backup tanks.

I guess so far I'm gonna go with a 4 outta 5 with a half point knocked off for flavor plus the crooked post and another half because of the button. This will probably go up to a 4.25 once it's broken in and the flavor is (hopefully) more evident.

They were saying if it goes production it would have a 510 on it. Not sure how that would affect looks or workings but that was mentioned before. I have the white one coming. In fact the last? one as there was only 1 when I ordered it. So Think I should have it tomorrow as I dont see anything about out for delivery today. :(

for those that like to use cotton usually know to keep it extra wet, we cant sell any with cotton becuase ti does burn and that wouldnt work but in general many new wicking styles are being worked on.

bonny:: you can use these on any elips and vice versa, we have more batteries coming by themselves, we have 700 mah elips coming and we have the 510 connections for the elips as well. we also will be getting more sole kits and if these where slightly improved like greensound said then these might go to main soon

What about offering optional wicking alternatives when buying new heads? Can that be done? Probably will sell for people that don't want to mess with all the stuff that requires rebuilding etc.

Yea....I was thinking more on the cleaning side than the use side....actually hadn't even thought of the potential issues of vaping too dry during use ;)

I've got VapeMail....

My Greensound SOLE eLips 360 Kit made it in this morning...

I suspect the battery already came at least partially charged, first thing I did ( as normal ) is plug it in to charge it and when I checked it about 30 minutes later it already showed that it was fully charged. The light on the button starts off red and when full turns to green like many others out there. The battery was in the off position when I got it... so remember to click it 5 times to turn it on. The USB charger is going to be a weak point... the tip that goes into the battery is a lot smaller than my old Nokia ( well over 5 yrs old probably ) charger I've got so people will need to show it some care and try not to bend it to the side when it is plugged in.

Filling is very simple... wiggle the mouthpiece side to side to remove it ( it is in firmly but not too tight so it shouldn't leak from this area )... and fill direct from a bottle. Replace when done... I did prime the coil with a drop of juice so I could avoid any possible dry hits.

I've been vaping on this for almost an hour and a half and have gone though around 2/3rd's of a tank so far. Initially the flavor was weak but has improved and started to feel broke in at about the 1/2 tank mark ( more or less ). I need to do a side by side comparison with my VV passthru set at 3v and 3.6v to see where this one seems to fall power wise... I'm guessing at them moment that it is close to the 3.6v mark. All I have to compare with right now is my Kicked Chrome Bolt which is set at about 7w.

At this point, the vape is good for where I believe the power is at... flavor is slightly less than my Kicked mod, but that is to be expected... the amount of vapor is really pretty good also. I'm currently busy at work so I'm not vaping it as much as if I were sitting on the couch etc... but when I've chain vaped it... it hasn't given any dry hits so far... It has also not gurgled which means it isn't over wicking. It is comfortable in my hands but I suspect someone with large hands may want a bigger PV. The whistle tip is also comfortable to vape on and when chain vaping only gets slightly warm ( it's a top coil BTW, so that warmth is what I consider normal )

What remains to be seen is how long the battery lasts as well as how long it takes to recharge. I will also compare it to the VV passthu at different voltage settings using a Vivi Nova 3.5ml tank later this evening. At this point, everything is looking very good for this size and type of PV.

small ORING with your lanyard attached will grip it securely... I've even worn my lt this way for a short time with no problems lol

I wonder... Could this Sole battery be used as a pass through? If you have a usb extender with a male and a female end. I'm scared to try it
I bet it would work but I would be too worried about snapping the pin off the charger gizmo

I just received mine, Stuck it on the charger red light comes on. Wait a few ,red turns to green.
Put some juice in it.hit fire button and nothing.
appears to be DOA.
AHAAAA. Click the button 5 times to turn unit on and it works...lol
Have to admit this little gizmo put out some vapor[very surprised]
Looks like it will make a perfect stealth vapor size wise. But for stealth it puts out alot of vapor.
I like this little thing,Would be Great to give to someone you want to introduce to vaping.
Affordable, easy to use, good performance for the money.

we really NEED to get used to either Title'ing* our posts with product NAME

or listing product name 1ST before starting our posts .
IE.... CE5...blah blah blah :D

As we get more & more test products... this is going to get really confusing .

Adding my $.02 since I'm now an Alpha dog, but still waiting for Alpha products to arrive in my mailbox (hopefully tomorrow)...

I agree that titling or labeling posts would help, and also consistently using reply-with-quote. What I think would help even more though, and this was already suggested by someone else a few days back, would be to spin off separate Alpha threads for the various products -- at least for the major ones that are generating alot of discussion, such as the Rocket and Scorpion so far.

I also new to the ALPHA Program could suggest an ALPHA Members only forum? That way could have posts for various products which would make it easy for everyone to discuss. If not here could set it up on the GV domain? If help was needed I could assist with setting up a phpbb or vbulletin or something if they wanted their own. Although optimally a private section here would be the best bet.

Greensound SOLE eLips 360 Kit - CIGAR Brown

Just received this about an hour ago, here are my initial thoughts, will post updates as time goes on...

Packaging:
Decently nice looking box shows the device nicely, would look good in a retail store. Instructions.... there are three steps on the back of the pakage that shows you how to fill it, but there are no other instructions with it, nothing that says how to turn it on or off. If I have never used an e-cig before and I bought one of these I would open it, read the instructions, fill it, then I would be hitting the button and swearing that this POS is not working. How is a noob supposed to know it takes 5 presses to turn it on or off? May I recommend that GV puts together some more detailed documentation that they can just print and include in the order if anyone orders one, I could totally seeing noobs complaining of DOA because they don't know how to turn it on. Anyone who has worked in customer service or tech support knows all too well how often things like that happen.

The Device:
Not bad looking, defiantly not going to mistake this for real wood grain but looks decent for what it is, I have seen other versions of this product on another vendors site that looks to be made better as they are made of metal. it is smaller that I thought it would be, is 1/4 inch longer than an iPhone (sorry don't have a tape measure handy). It is also very light, personally I would prefer if this were made of metal would make it feel like a more expensive device, but if this were priced at $20 I would be ok with that. I have big hands, is a bit award to hold.

Opened the box and put in on a AC usb wall wart, battery was topped off in 5 min, so they come charged. One thing I defiantly don't like at all is the pin on the charger, I could totally see this being bumped and breaking off. If at all possible it would be WAY better if this had a micro usb on it to charge, which would also enable this to be used as a pass-though, or at least could be used while charging.

I think I would be willing to carry this in my jeans pocket, it will not come apart accidentally I don't think, is held together very tightly. Now if I whacked it into something hard enough well in my pocket I am sure the plastic may crack open leaving my pocket a juicy mess.

Filling:

Filled with a 50/50 mix blueberry juice that I know very well.

I was not able to get the top cap/mouthpiece off, I tried wiggling it back and forth and getting my finger nails under the seam or crack at the bottom of the mouth piece, I ended up having to grab an iphone repair prying tool to pop the cap off. Dumped the juice in easy as pie. The mouthpiece now comes off easier as its not totally dry. I also noticed 30% or more of the first juice fill was sucked into the carto, there must be a fair amount of filler in there I would assume, anyone know for sure?

Use:

I dont have much usage time in yet, but will post an update later or tomorrow. I noticed this has a 10 second cut off which to me is a very good thing as I find myself wanting another second or two on devices that cut off after 7 seconds. Especially if I am stealth vaping as I take very long hits while in stealth mode. Lots of vapor as I would expect from a 50/50 juice, but defiantly putting out good vapor. The flavor is ok, no nasty tastes or added flavors, flavor is ok, not great, not as good as CE5, stardust replaceable, vivi nova or even a boge carto. This may break in yet not sure, flavor is still good enough that I would still use this.

No dry hits so far, even if I vape it hard for the full 10 seconds. Also no gurgling all. Both a big plus.

Overall:

I like it, I dont love it. Could be great in a starter kit for a newbie. I still think I would recommend an ego kit of some sort for a noob just because of the 510 thread and being able to use other juice delivery options versus only being able to use and elips tank.

I dont like the pin on the charger at all, would be a huge plus if this could be changed to a micro or mini usb. This charging sticking out of the side of a PC or laptop, or on most wall warts would be way to easy to kick which may break it. If you had a wall wart which the USB port was facing up that would be a work around.

Would like to see this also available in black metal and stainless for a higher price as well.
