Well, the CE9 is quite a strange cat. Ohms seem to jump all over the place, but it finally seemed to level out at 1.7. I never filled the tank, as I was not ready for disappointment. I opened it up, made sure the wick was nestled to the bottom, removed the plug from the tank, and dropped about 7 drops in the open sides. Dropped the voltage and let it rip.

After getting past the early nasty taste, I found it works adequately as a dripping atomizer. I may look at modding the tank, or figuring a way to put a regular drip tip in for the sake of convenience, but it works OK. I guess I will see how this stock-ish setup works for a run, then re-wick/coil it and maybe even leave some extra wick to coil around the bottom.

Not a bad device, not a great one either as designed. But it is a simple setup that you can easily make work in a reasonable capacity. Maybe I will try filling the tank up and see if it works, but, in my experience, this style setup has not worked for me in the past, and it really isn't anything different than the eGo setup.

Well worth the Alpha price, if nothing else to have something to tinker with. Would I pay $15 for it? Nah, probably not.

If I could figure out a way to drill out the center post, this might be a .....in' thing to throw on my bottom feeder with a little creative wicking.

I find the vape way too airy. It is just not dense enough for me. Kinda like suckin through a straw with a pinhole in it.
It takes forever for an initial flavor to burn off when refilling with a new flavor.
No easy way to clean these with the filler besides flushing them with water and waiting 3 or 4 days for the filler to dry out.
No leakage issues for me.
All in all not too bad. I think it's worthy of hitting the streets, but ... I would not buy another for myself unless they could cut down the air flow a tad and make that center post replaceable (screw-in).

Pro's: No leaks, no gurgling, the draw is a little looser than a Stadust, flavor is OK, on the par with the Stardust. No dry hits when vaping at a reasonable pace, but then I only tried it with 70PG/30VG juice.

Con's: Harder to clean.

IMO this is ready for prime time, but because it is harder to clean than a rebuildable Stardust it is not a product I would use or recommend on a regular basis.

Did they fix the melting problem? That's my biggest issue. They might like to change the materials to make it more durable when using acidic juices. Here, I'll quote all of my updates on the Ce5:

First-
The Ce5 is nice!! Danno, thank you for putting this in Alpha! The past two cartos were a bit disappointing for me, though the C8V3 is great when I can make it behave. This makes up for them and then some. Wow!

Preliminary review:

Filled it up with Strawberry Cheesecake (omg amazing juice btw), at first I had my syringe in hand before I remembered that I could fill this directly from the bottle  So much easier. Anyway, filled it up to just over the top hole so it would get the maximum amount of juice soakage. Let it sit for about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Popped it onto a freshly charged ego battery.

First thing I noticed, it won't screw all the way onto my ego batt. There's a gap, but it's not huge. It's still noticeable, but connects just fine. Second thing I noticed as I was taking my first draw, it whistles. Like a quiet tea kettle. I've always found that sort of annoying, so any suggestions are welcome. I tried screwing it down further but there was a fair bit of resistance and I didn't want to break it or anything. Oh, and it also crackles but I associate that with good wicking, so I'm not worried about it.

Third thing I noticed was unbelievable throat hit. Woah! The taste is great and the TH is better than anything I have ever had that I can remember. The vapor produced is also pretty decent, better than acceptable for me.

Fourth thing that I noticed was that I can see it wicking like the Phoenix. Little bubbles float up. That's pretty cool and I love an indicator like that.

A+, two thumbs up, 5 stars. We'll see how it does in the long run.

Got my Hush 12mg nic juice sampler, but I didn't wanna test it with that since I haven't had that flavor before. Strawberry Cheesecake tastes perfect, though. If this thing has to be broken in, I'm in for an amazing treat :D

Second:

Third tank on the Ce5 and it's still working great. There might be a little less vapor/flavor but I'm not really sure. First tank of Strawberry Cheesecake (70pg/30vg) was perfect, second tank of Hush (70/30) was also really good, though I'm not familiar with how that particular juice should taste.

This third tank is accidentally a big test of the product. It's been a while since I've vaped anything with this type of plastic and I put some 80/20 lemonade in there. So far it hasn't cracked but the plastic is fairly cloudy. When shaken, this juice turns cloudy and opaque, so that might be why. I'll update you all if something changes.

And the final (most important) one:

Well, here's the update! Something seriously changed. Long story short, don't put lemonade in your new ce5. Just don't.

I guess I got my wish, this thing won't be making any more noise.

Oh well, it's all in the name of testing! As you can see, strong citrus flavors aren't likely to go well in this. The lemonade was sweet and sour and a very accurate flavor. I didn't even think before I put it in there since I've been using it in the Phoenixes for a while.

As I stated in the above quoted post, the tank got cloudy pretty quickly. I vaped through it and it tasted fine. It looked fine. I didn't notice any of the black ick in the tank. Once I finished it up, or as close as possible since you just can't get that last bit of juice, I tried to twist the top off. It gave me some extra resistance but I got it out and it was a big melted mess!

You can see in the pictures that some of the tip was left in the tank. It was like the tank scraped the sides of the tip off as I was pulling it out. Maybe it's the plastic that tip is made out of because there's a thread around here somewhere about stardust tips melting with cinnamon/big red flavors.

That nasty brown/black stuff on the side is from the melted tip. I guess there was some juice up near the top that washed down some of the melted plastic when I took the tip out. I dunno.

Anyway, I can't test it any further obviously, unless I figure out how to take it apart, clean it out and put it back together with one of my old stardust tips. It's worth a shot.

Final review-

Performance - 5/5
Vapor - 5/5
Flavor - 5/5
Durability - 2/5 - Too easily damaged by acidic juices.

Disclaimer before someone jumps on me about it: 3 tanks isn't enough to properly test an item. Regardless, this is information worth knowing. This is just what I've experienced with the ce5. I wish I had another one  I'd just stick to strawberry cheesecake ;)

Paired with the more difficult cleaning, I wouldn't buy one. If they made it easy to remove the filler to clean it along with the wicks/coil and easy to reinsert it all, then I might since I have other cartos that can handle juices like this. Still, plenty of people like these flavors and might want to know what can happen.

Was 110% a win for me. No leaking not a drop. Better flavor than a stardust, ran about 12 full tanks though it before flavor dropped off. Never a dry hit, not once.

I seem to recall the general overall thoughts on the CE5 being good, a couple had leaking issues, and the plastic did not stand up to acidic juices.

Possible changes(IMO):
Better plastic
Move juice holes lower or..
add 3rd set of holes, one as low as possible, middle and top (would need to be tested for flooding)
replaceable innards???
colored tubes

I have a dream for a tank/clearo product....
A Universal system, a top cap and bottom cap that can fit on multiple devices, would have a base that multiple styles of replaceable heads/tube could screw into... CE5, CE2, CE3 ect. Even maybe a screw on RBA too, Instead of having just replaceable heads like a stardust or vivi nova it would have the entire inner post replaceable like an E1, but you would have choices as to what style of post you want to screw in, so I could put in a stardust center post, then later switch it up with a CE5 post. Could be an entire line of different tubes with different size top and bottom caps, all threaded, and a line of different style inner tube/posts that fit in any of the plastic tubes.

Here is the name...
The "Ubiqui-Tank" from Got Vapes. The one tank thats is many tanks in one.

Edit: or name it "The Only Tank"

I apparently have bad luck with any stardusts and the CE5 is no different. Dry hits, Burning Taste and had a stress crack when I got it. Although it did not seem to affect performance it was still pretty weak for me. There were less dry hits but dry hits all the same. So I gotta say no go for me.

I skipped on the CE5, so I should probably also skip on shooting my mouth off, but...nah!! :p

I'll just say that, with the growing availability of products with replaceable innards -- the Vivi Novas, the Stardusts, and soon...the RAVENS!!! -- I'm getting increasingly disinterested in anything without removeable/replaceable parts. They're much easier to clean, the ongoing replacement costs are lower, and I feel less eco-guilt with them. I'm sure there's still some market for use 'em & toss 'em products, but I'm no longer part of it.

EDIT: I did just order a couple Shortys, but that's the exception not the rule.

Ok so I went to the GV site and found out that the CE5 is what has been on my rocket since I got it (ce5). Now the Rocket was in the "dead" drawer for a week, but otherwise I've put over 30 mls of 50 State Flux thru it and I love it. I have not attempted to change flavors, nor clean it. It still hits great and I would say given my experience with the 2nd and 3rd generation Stardusts that the CE5 is a winner. I never got this much quality use out of the aforementioned SDs. My vote is Go live.

I am very impressed with the CE5, I have run more than a dozen tanks thru this and the flavor and vape has been very consistent throughout. It just starting to drop off some now but as many have said it is a bit difficult to clean. Other than that factor I would definitely recommend it go main stream. If it were possible to clean easier this would be my main Clearo of choice. Solve the cleaning issues and this would be an A+ w/:thumbs: All in all I still give it

CE5 ...

I LIKED it ...till I killed it trying to CLEAN ...worked for 2 weeks tho...

The addition of the 2 interior sleeves helped w/wicking but ...
I found one layer had a burnt hole in it, when I tore it down after it's demise.

And I didn't like it any better than the stardusts & ViVi's ...
which ARE EASY to CLEAN & have the replaceable option ....

so IDK ? ...if I was GV ...I would probably just pass on carrying it .

I didn't get a ce5 either, but one reason is that I pretty much agree with Jerry. I have little interest in anything that doesn't have replaceable innards, and a good plastic so that I don't have to worry which juice is going in it. That doesn't mean that I won't alpha test other things when I can, but although some may like them, as a buyer I have no interest if it's not good plastic and replaceable innards at this point.
