was just toying with the CE9 a bit and was curious if the manufacturer intended for the extra wick that was coming out of the one end of the coil to be up in the spike or what. It seemed like an obvious problem for wicking without something in that spike. So I did a quick search to look at pictures by manufacturers of the CE9

I guess it was supposed to work without wick in the spike but I also found a new one they are calling the Phoenix rebuildable atomizer UFO. It is very similar but in the pictures has a wick going through the spike..the spike is much longer as well..and in the center under the coil is a screw to secure the extra wick so that its running straight up and through the spike while touching the coil.
Wasn't a picture of the extra wick screwed into this bottom hole but im pretty sure thats what its there for. I think this is exactly what they should have done initially because it worked very well when i added wick through the center..my problem was getting that wick to stay against the coil and also not pull out when i pulled the tank out. IDK just figured id mention this in case anyone else wanted to have a look at it...just do a google for phoenix rebuildable atomizer UFO
edit..some of the manufacturers didnt picture the extra screw(for the bottom hole I'm guessing) but one did

Hi everyone.... sorry 'bout the long silence, but I found that going back to work after 5 months on sick leave was harder than I thought. Figured sie Isaac seems to have given me an unexpected day off, so I'll try to catch up a bit. I have been trying to keep up with some notes along the way though.

Scorpion

Starting on first fill appeared to be going ok, but over wicking quickly started flooding the connector making it a rather frustrating experience. Will removing the Scorpion the bottom popped off and that was quite the surprise. After reassembly and refill, the quality of vape really didn’t improve so I’ll be set it aside for another day. Second try didn’t show appreciable improvement, so back to the shot glass. I probably should have checked for cracks, but really needed to vape something by that time. When time permits, I think breakdown and total cleanout is in order… maybe there will be some life for it in the future.

GV Apollo

Appearance: 5 – like it
Functionality: 3 (at best for my situation)
Flavor: haven’t found it to be as flavorful as the old CE2s in a MAP, but adjusting the juice may be the answer.

First Tank-
After wick was wetted, draws were nice and flavorful, resemblant of the original CE2s. Fair vapor, but not as strong as the original CE2s – it is moist and cool on the 650mah battery. I did experience some juice in the air tube, possibly from over wicking, and had to clean some juice out of the connectors and blow out the tank several times. It’s possible that adjusting the wick will improve the situation. Also, I’m getting liquid collection under the DT so hopefully some experimentation can eliminate that too.

The 650mah bat is quite small for my hand (as well as inconvenient for my vaping needs), but serviceable. Tank assembly and cleaning is very easy, nicely built with smooth threading. Appearance is good, and although I normally don’t go for color, I do find the dark metallic green to be attractive.

What I have found, after several days of use, is that I keep going back to a ViVi Nova for a fuller, more flavorful, vape. That is one thing I always found pleasant, and still do find, in the old CE2 MAP tanks. Of course individual taste being the demon here, I’ll have to say the Apollo probably won’t be my favorite all day vape (the larger bat would definitely be better) and even though it is an attractive and functional ecig.

This tank works much, much better at higher voltage - like around 4 to 4.4 or so, depending on the liquid you are using (but you gotta tilt). The battery that comes with it definitely doesn't provide enough power for it to work at its best, imho - it's exactly as you say, not enough vapor. This batt is better with a lower res Stardust, for instance. And the tank does really well on a Twist, or some other VV... You might try that, if you haven't already.

But, yeah, taste is soooooo subjective. I actually like the flavor it gives at the right voltage - a lot. Better than the Vivi.

Well, I'm vaping my Apollo at 3.4 on the Rocket so for a normal PV, it's probably about the same as vaping at 4 volts. That Rocket is just SO hot.

I'm using it on my Twist at 4.2-4.4v and get fantastic flavor. I do get the occasional gurgling, but I think that's from condensation. I've put 50+ml of juice through it so far without issue. No leaks. No dry hits. No juice dumps (of course, I unscrew it from the bottom ring, and not the tank itself).

All this coming from a monkey with a stuffed pink brassiere on... But Walters the funny one. To each his own I guess. Let the record show its a "tongue lashing", and I have people to handle the small time work. I dont step in unless its some heavy duty stuff, or my name is called out like the bat signal.
