It doesn't matter that the screw wasn't there and the base ran away, you kept explaining and that was a good thing. I kept up with ya and was able to understand what you were saying. You should do more videos. We are ALL still noobs ya know, just some with more experience then others

very good video SolemnPenguin..similar to the way i've wicked mine but probably easier. Im adding 2 to 3 strands to the center of my wick..hooking them under and back up to meet with themselves, so it ends up being 4 to 6 going through the spike. Then wrapping the coil...entwining the strands in the center of the coil, a few wraps on one side-a few on the other. My end result is a wick thats shaped like an upside down T...then I hold the spike above it and use an instrument to jab the strands up through...next time I'll give your way a shot as it looks way easier and probably works just as well.

Your way probably feeds juice more evenly to both sides of the coil if I'm picturing it right. I would try it that way; but I'm still missing that screw. My paperclip trick sounds easier than trying to jam the wick in from the other side. In fact, trying to do what you describe is what led to developing the paperclip trick.

If you end up finding the screw and give my way a try..the hardest part was keeping the added wicking taught while wrapping the coil..might want to do something like put a heavy little object on the added wick ends to keep pressure on it while wrapping but I was able to hold mine by slipping it between two fingers and kept it taught enough. If you envisioned an upside down T of wicking with the straight up and down part coming out of the center of the coil then you got it. It does work really well..just kind of tricky to hold it all ..but doable.

Man finally got my new avatar sized right..lol..scanned a picture of my Daisydog that was taken by a photographer at petco last year. I stood back and whispered..want a treat!!..and she did the head tilt with a snarl lip lol

Yea daisy makes me smile constantly...just gotta look at her and more often than not shes got a funny look on her face or doing something hilarious. I hear they say people with pets live longer and if laughter is good for you then I can definitely see why.

I have 2 dogs, 4 cats, 2 rabbits, 4 guinea pigs and 1 leopard gecko....I may just live forever!!! The funniest is watching the rabbits keep everyone in line!

100 is pretty healthy and you do have to remember it is $17.95 ( and that reduced by newsletter discount and super vip, etc) so it shouldn't be a stressful purchasing decision...

It's also worth noting that 100 isn't a large enough pool to determine whether or not a product is likely to crap out. I mean, we test quality, but if something truly is bad, there's usually a pretty good consensus. If you're really concerned over my dead dongle and are hesitant to purchase one, I'd recommend holding out until it's been out in the wild for a bit. That said, the product very well may sell out. It's the way it goes. I'd still suggest it to others because there are tons more out there working great and the Amigo performs fantastically.

All this discussion of dead passthroughs makes me miss my old one. It was the best and lasted, like, two years. What made it stupendous? Well, it had that nokia charger plug in the bottom of a 510 battery size (no battery though) with a lovely rubbery yet still clicky button, so if I did anything funky to it, instead of tearing up the wiring or hitting the button from the side, the cord just popped out, or the button just bounced. It's one of the few dead things I've kept just in case it ever comes back to life or I can fix it. I went back to the manufacture to get a new one, but they had changed the model drastically. Although I dont know if I can go back to non variable voltage anymore. I'm uncertain if this would work so well with a wider passthrough, like we have been seeing, but on a thin one it was freaking awesome beyond belief.

It's not just about post count. The big one is having previous orders with GV already. If you have a lot and are already a loyal customer you can try PMing Dan or Chris and see if you can get in. The thing is there is more to ALPHA then just getting the newest toys when they come out. It's also about community, posting reviews and ideas that will help GV be successful. It's kinda like we all work for GV in a sense. We get product at entry level prices but in turn we have to work for it and not all products can be winners.

So As suggested definatly keep posting, this topic is an open forum so feel free to post in here as well, get an order or 2 in with GV so you can know what it's all about... It's mostly about the candy we get with our orders... don't be fooled.

Hi Paulette, are you a customer of GV? They've let folks become alpha who have established themselves as customers even though they may have a low post count. I would guess that even a low post count would be considered if it showed activity here in GV forum threads.

I don't have any authority to speak for them, just making my comments based on what I've seen here in the past.
