Just got my Raven-first alpha purchase.

Seemed to have a burnt taste, like any wick based tank when I filled, primed and vaped it on my ProVari. Then I read a few posts, and realized I was probably using too high a voltage-I usually vape cartos at about 4.5-4.8 v, and I have pretty much abandoned wicks because they can't seem to handle that type of voltage. Anyway, I backed way off on the volts, set it to 3.8, and I am vaping it with those 3 second drags for a bit to see what happens. After dripping a few drops into the center of the carto, I got an amazing burst of flavor, and a surprising amount of fog for such (for me) low voltage. Seems to be working pretty damn great right now. Probably better suited for my ego twist instead of the ProVari... happy I got my hands on one!

currently vaping at 3.8v in a pyrex tank on my provari (lavatube i had to take it down to 3.4v...think i bought a junk one)

Based upon Adrena's recommendation I forgot to get some teflon tape from work. I did, however, jam a bit of toothpick into one of the air holes, right above the threads. I have to say, this has dramatically improved the consistency. Dramatically. I'm still undecided if a normal length drip tip adds anything to the vapor production, perhaps a fractional amount. I think I'll stick to the Budgie. So thank you Adrena for the tip, and to Antfuzz (sp?), who also recommended the same tip, in a different thread.

I must have buggered something up when I went for my 3rd fill. Back to scratchy, dry hits. Doing the "reset" by removing the drip tip and blowing through the battery contact end gave me ONE good hit, then back to dry.

If I take short, slow, 3sec drags it works fine. So I did this until I got the tank about 1/2 empty, and THEN it was back to normal. Normal meaning AWESOME. So I think I'm doing something wrong when doing my initial fill. I wish I could record myself and upload it somewhere. I bet someone would be able to go AH-HA! HERE is where you're screwing up!

I've watched a few videos, including the ones at gotvapes, and I'm following those to the letter. At least, I think I am....

And just as an aside, I'm enjoying the MegaTwix a LOT! I'd recommend it to any and all BCC users.

Is there a wrong way to fill these? And I mean that as a serious question, because if there is a wrong way to fill it I'm sure I'll do it at some point. I don't have the greatest of luck with vaping devices. Right now I use the funnel filler with no special technique, just pour until it's full.

zipflint, ill try to pinpoint on video what it is that could cause it when you do it wrong, ill try to do my best to explain it as its hard to pinpoint what does it, but im almost there so i can relate it to all of you so you all know the best way to refill. to be honest a tank with a top side fill and then filling sideways would be best so we will have new tanks made to avoid and filling and refilling issues.

yes there is defiantly a few wrong ways to fill it which will cause a issue until you reset it. im a little busy at the moment to do videos but ill get to it as soon as i can, i m dealing with china right now and its very time consuming but im trying to answer as much as i can

Don't know if anyone else is using the funnel filler, but when I fill mine, I tilt the raven tank to the side with one hole in funnel filler showing on the top side. I could be wrong, but my reasoning tells me that this allows air to escape through that hole while the juice is flowing into the tank from the one on bottom. I've got three raven tanks loaded and vaping like a dream with no issues. Two of them on a zmax and one on a vamo :)

yiddle that is what i meant, what your doing avoids the issue that can be caused, also a top or side filling tank will alleviate this.

now some will ask why didnt we release a different tank. the main reason was acceptance, we delayed these for 9 months, interest died out, and we would have to order tons of them if we had the new tank made, so we released them with the the tanks they came with which are just as good as dct tanks or other basic tanks out there and people are used to them, we knew the ravens worked well and we fully tested them and made sure they worked before dropping them, lots of time and headaches into making sure we kept our word and i hope you all approve how how well they work, now that people are liking them we will have newer modern tanks made for them and the private tank can be used along with other tanks we will sell. I cant expect every single person to like them, but it looks like 8 out of 10 are more tten happy and really, thats all we can ask for, it shows we put our souls into this. all the credit goes to betterlife and we are just sellers of their product but this was our baby we worked with them on for 9 months, we helped each other until they were ready and we feel they are more then ready

Thanks for taking the time to get things right. I feel that the Raven really IS a FANTASTIC device. The issues I'm having are almost certainly due to something that I am doing without realizing it. So as always, take your time with whatever further instructional materials you can provide. The Raven has DEFINITELY been worth the wait!

I think the tanks that came with the ravens so far look a better than most of the standard ordnary tanks Ive seen. The beveled edge makes it look a bit more streamlined and idk classy maybe - less utilitarian perhaps... Bad which tubes will fit these? The small one dosent match the the size of the other small tank I have and the big one I have another tank the tube matches size wise but its broken too and I dont know where it came from...
My new one should be here monday - I cant wait to try it :D:D

one last thing before i go, i dont want anyone to think im in denial and think some people might not have actual issues, im more then aware and capable of understanding that and I try to deal with issues as much as i can, im sure there will be some people with real issue a here or there is cant be fixed, it happens with every product to date to every vendor there is, its literaly impossible to get 100 out 100 working flawlessly and i dont think anyone can point to a product that hasnt had at least one issue here n there but with he ravens we are confident they are really good and did huge batch testing on these before releasing since we were lucky enough to work closely with them and finally get it right which also helped us along the way to learn how certain things work. to be honest the only thing that has me stomped is what is the cause to a bad fill, yiddle is getting closest to what my thoughts are but i know how to show how to fill it so you dont have that issue and obviously a top or side feeding tank will alleviate a bad fill. i will try to show as many tips i can to ensure you have a good fill each time which wil lead to nothing but joy which many of us are experiencing now, they are amazing

hey harmonic, not sure what you mean brother, which tank are you asking about, and i agree the tanks with the ravens are pretty nice and perform well but we want to make the filling as easy as possible for the ravens so that is our goal. let me know which tank your talking about and ill check to see if i have one

The ones that came with the ravens bro. Most of the other 'standard' carto tanks dont have the beveled edge on the outside top and bottom. I think it makes them look a lot nicer that just the plain old flat carto tank caps. As for the tubes - On the first run of ravens I got a large and a small tank. The tubes on these tanks are a different size the the other 'normal' (or dct) carto tanks I have laying around. The big one had the hard clear plastic tube and it was cracked when I got it but Ive only found one other tank tube that fit it (and its broken too plus I dont know where it came from) and it also dosent fit any of the syringe tubes Ive tried - but Ive not got all the different brand syringes to try. So I guess the better question would be are you going to have replacement tubes OR which other tank tubes that are available will fit the raven tank caps?
heh did I make it make sense that time LOL

ok we will only carry the 3.5 tank they sell, plus a new 3.5 tank they are making and a new larger tank they are making, so no more of the old ones in big or small. now that we know the ravens are good and people are liking them i will have a few different tanks just for the ravens that work well with them. a tank with screw is best, it can un screwed to releave pressure and makes filling easier and avoides filling issues.

its more of the syphoning we are trying to prevent. but overall once the fill is proper it should tick along until they are empty

I am doing the exact same thing with my funnel tool, works like a charm with these.

I have gotten a couple of dry hits, I just gave it a little shake and it cleared up. I think it might have been a trapped air bubble. Give it a try and see if that helps any and let me know what you find out.

On another note - with the funnel filling tool if you dont tip it and fill it from one side with one of the inside openings tward the top for the air to get out or if you just go to fast it will 'air lock' where the juice fills both holes going into the tank and then the air cant get out at all so the juice gets 'stuck' in the filler funnel and wont go in the tank. Then its a pita to get it going again without making a little mess and loosing the juice in the funnel. And this applies to any tank your filling with it not just the raven ones lol

Yes and then you get distracted and dont notice that the funnel is full of juice, then you push the carto up and end up with a hand full of about 2ml of juice.......but I am not talking from experience or anything.
