Or how obstinate and bull-headed you were about it being the size/shape of a cigarette.
I almost have to laugh when I see new members saying they want something that is the size/shape of a cigarette.
I say almost because it actually isn't funny when you get right down to it.

But I can't blame them, as they often know not what they are really trying to do.
And then of course, for some small percentage of them, it really does matter that much in the end.

But I'd say that's about 2.47% of them.
:)

It helped me a lot, at first and when I had to do it over again, in July, but the thing is, with an eRoll, you can't hold it the same as you held a cigarette anyway, because the spot in the V of your fingers is where the atty is, and it gets pretty warm right there -- with my stainless eRoll, downright hot. So that kinda takes away the familiarity-factor. I didn't try the regular cigalikes enough to know if that was a problem; I thought the Njoy was the most similar, because of the soft mouthpiece, but the taste was like eucalyptus, and I really didn't care for it.

I thought the eRoll worked well, it got me all the way down to quitting... but as I learned more here at the forum, I saw more and more of its drawbacks -- non-regulated, so each hit after the first one gets less and less satisfying. That's why I went straight to a vv3 after the eRoll, and saw the benefit of regulation RIGHT away.

But for those new to vaping, it's hard to realize that this requires a battery which needs to be a decent size, to get decent performance; it's very much like how new folks always want to know mg and vaping-time correlations between vaping and smoking, which is pretty much impossible, just like getting decent performance from a cigalike sized battery. I think each of us has to find our own personal correlation in terms of satisfaction, which is why the beginning is so hard -- some of us get stuck with ejuice so strong (18mg) that it makes us sick enough to not even want to think of vaping, or so weak that the only thing they can think of is a cigarette.

5 for me.

first time i used an e-cigarette i was drunk and decided to try my friend's ego. i liked it, but i only took one hit and gave it back because, well, it wasnt mine, and i had a marlboro in the other hand.

started later with a cigalike because i wanted to spend less than i was spending on smoking, and hated it. it did absolutely nothing for me. then to a cheap ego and hated it too but that was because i didnt know how to use it properly.

been vaping steadily since then changing tanks and batteries every once in awhile. finally found a setup that i like and will have my mech mod tomorrow and well see where it goes from there.

i still smoke a cigarette every once in awhile, i consider myself a social smoker. but i spend nothing at all on cigarettes so i accomplished what i was trying to do when i started vaping.

i think the thing that was most important to me about vaping is thats its a smoking cessation device, but not a nicotine cessation device.

18 years smoking 4 weeks ago today i had a go on a friends ecig plain ego ce4 , the same day i went and bought the same kit one week later i bought a vision spinner 2 , and today i bought a vamo v6 . ive spent over £200 in 4 weeks so its an addiction in itself but im having fun and i have been off the real cigs 4 weeks today :)

I actually keep a log since $$$ was a motivation for me. In the first few months, I sometimes spent more on HW that I would have smoking. However, over the last 2 years, I frequently go many months without spending a penny. So over time, I have saved a bundle. Its just one more motivator for me.

It's funny you mention 18mg as too much. I've been on 18mg juice since I bought my first ego type system and since it was the only thing that made me NOT want a cigarette, I haven't reduced the nicotine level at all. It just works for me and since it saves everyone I know from me wanting to chop their heads off (like I would want to do when I'd try to quit smoking), I'm going to stay with what works.........at least for me.

1 for me and that was 4 years ago!

I had to carry some "911" juice though with me for emergencies! I was vaping 16mg at the time and carried one bottle of 24mg for when I was going crazy and going to cave. I only had to use that 24mg juice a few times though and it immediately calmed me down. It gave me a security blanket feeling in the beginning to "know" that I had stronger juice in my purse for bad times. I work with smokers and am married to a smoker so it was imperative for me to have that crutch.

PS: I've never caved, not once in over four years:)

3 for me. I tried an all natural cigalike about 2 years ago and while I was intrigued with the idea, it really wasn't working. Battery life horrible, expensive, didn't taste good, after the first few hits it was so weak I would go to the store to get a pack of cigarettes etc.
A couple of years later I am drinking with friends and all 3 of us left the bar with a CE4 starter kit and a couple of bottle of juices (ideas seem so great when alcohol is involved:) After a few months trying to get over leaking tanks and weak batteries, I went all in (or so I thought) got some Nautilus', Kangers, vv batteries and have been completely off of cigarettes for 7 weeks now. I may not be saving money with the shinyites I have developed, but I feel so much better and the occasional urge for a cigarette is getting farther in between after only 7 weeks.

Number 5: I started with disposable cigalikes (NJoy Kings) and honestly that probably would have been enough but
A) they are cost prohibitive and B) they quickly led to the much larger and more satisfying world of better juice and new setups. (Naut Mini and iStick currently)
However I still pull out a King occasionally - I still "NJoy" them (see what I did there?).

3 I think. First thing I got was a cig a like. Didn't work. Then an ego and small tank, still smoking. Then better ego/tank set up, cut down on # of smokes. Better mod and tank, 1 or 2 smokes a day. Now, even better mod, RTA and juice I love = a very satisfying vape! I was a "duel user" for 8 months. MY vaping journey has been a total of 11 months, now 2 months smoke free!! I really think that someone finding a satisfying vape is the key :D

3 for me

Started with cigalikes, complete failure. Went to a Tsunami ego style kit with minimal sucess. Turned out the tank was the weak point.

Upgraded to some protank 2 knockoffs and started making serious progress but was still going back and forth between analog and digital.

Upgraded again to some real juice from my local Ahlusion (not the gas station stuff i was using) and upgraded again to some Aerotank V2's and ARO spinners. Good but not great, still didn't have the be all end all get off the analog for good feeling i was looking for.

Last upgrade was to a Sigelei Zmax V5 and topped it with a Nautilus. Bye bye analogs. Turns out quality equipment makes a difference. Now the Zmax is no Provari but is far beyond the ego batteries and the Nautilus is enough of an upgrade from the AT v2 that is makes for a better vaping experience, at least to the point that i no longer crave analogs, i crave my mod.

5. (copied from my intro post to the-forum-that-shall-not-be-mentioned)

I tried an Njoy and thought "well it ain't great but it's not a toy and I bet there's something better".

Got an overpriced Green Smoke kit at the mall and read a ton on the forums.
Got some juice at the closest vape shop to refill the GS carts.
I allowed myself to continue smoking as long as it took, whether it took or not.
Dropped from 25-30/day to 3 or 4 per day for a couple of weeks.

Went back to that vape shop when I got paid and snagged a VV 1200, a vivi nova, all of his Ginger's Fireball and an assortment of flavors.
I finished the rest of that pack of butts (totally unsatifying compared to vaping) on 3/28/13

not a puff of smoke since then.

I was one of those that quit cigs immediately. Was a heavy smoker (> 2 packs a day) for many years. I ordered a basic EGO kit with atomizers and some juice. The day it arrived was the last cig I've had in over 4 years. I'm still using EGO style batteries but have moved up to the 1100 ma KGO and 1.7 ohm cartomizers.

The amount of money I have saved in the last 52 months is mind boggling.
