Zing

As we discussed, the thought of Butterscotch Ripple with all that lemon wasn't appealing to many of us. I made up 4 tester batches subbing various custards and creams for the Butterscotch Ripple. I have been trying them out for the past two days and wanted to share my opinions.

Remix #1
I subbed 1.5% CAP Vanilla Custard and 1.5% FLV Vanilla Pudding for the Butterscotch Ripple. This one is very nice and has a deep custard texture. I like it and it is my 2nd favorite of the four.

Remix #2
I subbed 3% CAP Vanilla Custard for the Butterscotch Ripple. This is very custardy and could probably use a longer steep. It is nice but I do think that all of that custard mutes the lemon.

Remix #3
I subbed 1.5% VTA Devon Cream and 1.5% FLV Vanilla Pudding for the Butterscotch Ripple. This is my favorite - the zing of the lemon comes through loud and clear and it has a definite pleasantly sour note. It is silky smooth and has just enough custard for a lovely mouthfeel.

Remix #4
I subbed 3% TFA Vanilla Swirl for the Butterscotch Ripple. This might work without the Holy Vanilla but it is the least flavorful, to me, of the four. Maybe there is just too much vanilla in the mix.

For me, #3 is the winner, with #1 a close second. I like it more than Lemondowskii because there is more lemon flavor and zing! I think that #3 would work with any silky cream in place of the VTA Devon Cream.

I also think that the Lemon Trinity could replace the lemons used in Lemondowskii to zing up the lemon flavor there.
Nice work! Do you think I could use CC Devon Cream in place of the VTA one?

I wish I liked chocolate. May give it a try one of these days.
I’m resigned to chocolate not being a vape flavor for me. I gave up, they all taste tootsie roll-ish, artificial... can’t put my finger on it, just not like irl chocolate.

Thanks for posting. A couple of questions: (1) what do you consider a silky cream and (2) what Lemon Trinity are you referring to? When I mixed Zing I had considered upping the Lemon Zest to 0.5%. Did you leave at the original percent?

Did you try it with the butterscotch? I’m just curious how it is with the original recipe.

I bought it specifically to try in Zing as that is how the recipe was originally written. I like butterscotch but have never tried it in a vape. Somehow, butterscotch and lemon don't go together in my head, which is why I made all of the variations I talked about in an earlier post. I am going to find out though. :D

I mixed the original recipe with Butterscotch Ripple. For me the butterscotch ripple was out of place.

Yes but they no doubt had the T2.

Quite honestly I have not been up to par. I have this cyst on the backside bottom of my neck that has really been bothering me. Issue is trying to get into a dermatologist within a short period of time. I think I may have made multiple appointments so need to sort this out as I do not need a cancellation charge. Tried to do this today when I got home however never made it. Tomorrow is another day.

I haven't used CC Devon Cream but I think it is worth a try. I think any fairly rich, heavy cream will do the trick.

EDIT: Liam Davey says of VTA Devon Cream, "...this is pretty close to CCW Devon Cream and I believe this will be a viable sub for CCW’s offering at a similar %."

Thanks! I’m going to try your version 3.

I have to admit to using some flavors that may seem strange to some folks. My Very Berry Cheesecake has Boysenberry,Huckleberry and Rhubarb

Those sound delicious to me. Makes me want to order more that’s if BCF finally has a sale!!

If they don’t have a sale after me waiting 3 weeks with a full cart - I’ll scream and pull my hair out :w00t: !!!!!!!

I mean do we know for sure? Has anyone asked? I think I emailed them last year about if they were having a sale or not. I sure hope the do because I really would like those concentrates!!

Edit - so I sent them an email. I think last year or another holiday it started on Friday maybe?????
