My son-in-law is shipping a car from Virginia to Seattle. My husband suggested that instead of shipping my mixing gear, I put it in the car that is being shipped. I worry about heat, etc. but thought I would ask for opinions here. I know you all have opinions. Shipping this stuff Priority Mail is going to be expensive but worth it not to ruin anything. Thoughts?
Seem it would get as hot shipping USPS. You could use cold packs in freezer bags shipping in the car.

WOOHOO! vape mail began arriving today.
VapeMail

I'm impressed. 3 orders placed the evening of July 3rd (BCF, NR, NG). Two delivered today (BCF, NR). (Sorry, NR; you came in third.) Considering the orders were placed Tuesday after hours on a holiday eve, and at the mercy of USPS, both the vendors and the Post Office have exceeded my expectations!

Now that I am looking at the boxes; I am beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed. I now realize my stash is going to need major reorganization!

So, here's my question:
How can I label my concentrate tops, so that the labels can be seen from the top? I have bottles ranging in size of 10, 15, and 30mL. The cap shapes range from small flat caps on the 8 & 10mL vials, to the conical caps that are common on the 10-30mL dripper bottles.

I've got an idea, but I wanted to see if anyone else has already figured it out, and I can stop re-inventing the wheel.:D
For the tiny tops color coding should work. Maybe on each cap one color for brand, second for type (cream-fruit-custard-ect), third for long/short steep-high/low percentage needed. Just create and print yourself a color wheel to reference.

I'm thinking out loud:
Heat is a definite "NO" for nic. I would aim for transporting in the coolest, fastest, manner.

Flavors are more heat tolerant than nic; but I would still want to minimize exposure. If you are repacking anyway (not taking your train(?) cases), and depending on how much room is available in the car (trunk/passenger compartment), using an cooler/ice chest w/o ice, might be enough. I would think a quality cooler, out of direct sunlight, ought to provide some significant protection from excessive heat even without using ice.

For extra protection, and again depending on how much you want to take; using Styrofoam "perishable" containers (like they use to ship frozen meat & seafood cross country) inside a cooler might add an extra layer of protection. I don't know if you have container stores close to you. You could also check with local grocery stores, or even butcher shops & fish merchants, and see if they might have throw-away insulated boxes they would be willing to give/sell you.

Yes, I thought about that. I have some from Amazon Fresh deliveries so it might be better than USPS. We shall see.
How long will the car be enroute and can the products stay in the air conditioning if being manually delivered?

@FranC - I noticed in going back over my notes doc that I neglected to state on some the % used in the test. I think that it is important to note that. Guess I have some work to do before I toss the testers.
    Thanks. I did note mine

I'd be interested in what your idea is cause I have the same problem. Sticky labels tend to fall off after awhile so that really isn't a good way except maybe for the flat caps. But I've had labels fall off those too.

I have been giving thought to how to reorganize my flavors since I just have so darn many of them.

Going by brand/flavor maker just does not work with the amount of flavoring I have so I thought I would just go by type of like flavors instead.ie. creams, fruits, nuts, tobacco, etc. I mean every flavor maker has the same named type of products, each has their strawberries, blueberries, etc. and having them sorted by flavor maker means you have to look in x amount of places before finding the one you are looking for.
As for labels, after writing on them, I place scotch tape over it to help secure the label on the bottle. It will eventually get messed up but doesn't fall off as quickly as just using the label alone. Mostly on mine it is the writing that gets messed up by smearing cause somehow some moisture gets under the scotch tape.

    :)

How long will it take to ship the car? How is it being shipped? Truck? Train?

    :)

He hasn't made the arrangements yet and will let me know on Monday what the deal is. It is possible that the company won't allow items to be shipped in the car for security reasons. Anyway, I will know Monday and that will give me time to Vac Seal and box the stuff if it can't go in the car. Thanks for the food for thought and suggestions.

Well, I was trying to use myself just as a example and not mentioning those in particular.....but with the varied types of tops @IDJoel has, I just don't think anything other than color coding is possible. I would do it by type of flavor and use just one dot cause it isn't big enough for more than 1. At least that way he only has to look at the tops that have the flavor he is looking for, instead of going through all of the ones he has from Caps or TFA, etc.

    just my 2 pennies.

    :)

I long time ago I saw someone do this.....
They used tiny round sticky dots and numbered them, and a spreadsheet to look up the number for each flavour.
    Thank you. :)

I thought about that; but my handwriting is not conducive to being small and legible. I don't think my cheap inkjet printer can print that small; at least that small and be readable to my poor eyesight.

Larger stickers could help, but then the question of how/where do I put them, so they don't wrinkle and don't fall off and do stay visible from above, becomes the challenge.

Wow! That is incredibly creative, and ingenious! One could pack a lot of information into a simple system like that.:thumb:

I failed to provide all the details though. I am asking, because the calculator I use (EJuiceCalculator by @HotRod19579) has the ability to attach a locator to each ingredient. I can look at the locator right on the calculator to see where I store my ingredient. But, this locator is restricted to alphanumeric characters like you find on a keyboard. I have no means to input a color code into this.:(

I am wanting to use a simple alphanumeric (e.g. 1-A-1, 2-R-23, etc.) type of designator for each ingredient. Which will correspond to box number, row, and position in row. This will allow me to sort by bottle size (minimizing wasted space), and disregard all name/manufacture order. Then, as I add new ingredients; I don't have to work them into the midst of existing ingredients. I simply add them to the end.:D

I am sorry for not being more specific to begin with. Thank you both for your ideas!

Also you should compare shipping costs with Fed ex, ups, etc. Usps may or may not be the cheapest.

Way too complicated for me. I have 2 fruit dividers. One for A-K and 1 for L-Z. The strawberries are in a divider of their own. All my cheesecake and grahams are in one divider. Then there's the odd stuff and overflow. Could be worse.

He can see enough of the cap + slope from above to use 3 stripes on the cap I would think.

Use nail polish/varnish to write or colour on the top of the lids?

I think @JCinFLA has a system like you are talking about......hopefully she will come along soon....
