This is my latest lockdown project.

I live on a river and there are rocks everywhere, up to a couple of feet in size. For 15 years I've been moving all the rocks I dug up to a spot near the end of the driveway. The previous owner was a major gardener and there were a dozen flower gardens surrounded by big rocks. Too much work for me. Borrowed a neighbor's mini backhoe to move the biggest ones. It was just somewhere to dump them but then I decided to make a rock garden. Now the pile is the size of a room and a couple of feet high. It’s bigger than it looks in the pic. It was covered with weed trees and vines taller than me so you couldn't even see the rocks any more.

Last week I decided to clean it up. The weed eater couldn't handle the woody stuff so I had to cut everything by hand including a vine that's covered with thousands of tiny thorns. It’s about half done now. Weeds will still grow up through the crevices between the rocks where the weed eater can't reach. I might put some weed killer on it, otherwise the weed trees and vines will keep on coming up forever. Even the rocks are cool. All different sizes and types of rock.

If it wasn’t for the lockdown it would still be a jungle.

On the vaping front I’ve been changing wicks and coils a lot more than I used to. Everything tastes better. I hid my raspberry bottle away to reduce the temptation. I’ll be getting my delivery of lemon flavors on Monday. They shouldn’t need to steep for too long.

I love doing projects like that. So satisfying when you look back and see progress. I’d much rather do yard work than dishes or toilets.

Morning, mixers.

I'll probably mow the grass today if the weather permits. No other plans other than winging it.....

Yesterday's rain came late, so managed to get that out of the way then :) One does have to grab chances like that around here, or it risks becoming a jungle. Nah, don't want to mow with a machete!

They did a job my daughter wasn't happy with fixing her house. They decided they didn't want to listen to her anymore and they finally fixed everything. That included taking up 3 hardwood floors and redoing them plus a lot more.

Squeaky wheel gets the grease ...

Are those Ditch Lilies by the road?

Day lilies. Maybe that's another name for the same thing. Mass of red flowers for a while in the summer. You can get them in other colors and they bloom for longer, but they don't spread like the original red ones do.

Ditch lilies are day lillies of the earlier kind.

Yes, the Day Lilies can be bought in several colors. Ditch Lilies grow wild beside the roads and are all orange.

Right now I’m watching a squirrel try to carry a dried corn cob that I feed them up a tree. It’s not going so well. And a stand off with another squirrel and a chipmunk over another corn cob. These animals are funny. My son and I are actually going to my work today to pick up some things. I forgot about my African violet still there with no water. Going to Lowe’s for some stuff. Going to repot all my house plants. Pick up sticks in the yard and cut grass. I want to be outside today. I need some sunshine.

You made me think of my mother... She loved African violets and always had them in the house everywhere. They're beautiful and delicate like she was. Her favorites to have outside were roses and orchids.

    I need a tissue.

My normal squirrels are a greyish brown. This year there is one that is a reddish brown who seems to be fearless. I can get within 3 to 4 feet before it skitters away. It’s also the only one I’ve ever had that is feeding with the birds. Very interesting to watch!

Pretty weird also. Our squirrels are mostly grey. Also, have Red Squirrels which are the destructive ones.

I hope this one isn’t destructive! I did see it furiously digging one day. I have 4 pecan trees and they are buried all over.

it’s very pretty but it eats nonstop.

I'm sure being so far away that it could be very different than our red ones. The ones here will destroy a roof that's not metal.
