My first internship in SW school was at one of the oldest State Hospitals in the country. It had HUGE grounds but a lot fewer wards. Most of the abandoned buildings had asbestos in them so you couldn't go in. They had this museum of old MI things including a lobotomy chair. I mean it was horrifying but I am glad I got to see one.. Pretty creepy including lots of other stuff.
I think they eventually sold most of the grounds to make an office park so it got even smaller. State facilities are not large these days, not since they kicked everyone to the curb into "hahaha we shall pretend to give it a relevant name "Community Mental Health." It wasn't so bad honestly although my unit had actual murderers and stuff. One guy had been there for 28 years and got day passes and stuff. I guess I can't say if that was a great idea or not.
I have driven by completely abandoned ones, but like, I don't think I would have broken IN or anything.
Creepy but cool, if you are ever n Philly you should go here:
Eastern State Penitentiary Historic Site
It's amazingly beautiful in this odd sort of way and for a long time they had one of the REAL famous mobsters, but I forget who. It really is neat though.
Keep an eye on your temp for a couple days if you remain puny. COVID can start with digestive issues, so I hear. I mean.... It's probably not that but be on the safe side anyway.
I gotta get ready to go to Tucson tomorrow, like fingerer prints and stuff. THE FIRST thing am gonna do is call SS and stuff, though. I really gotta get on it, honestly.
I am tired again this am but it just seems to be the way it goes at times. Meh. I took me and all my little things to bed, and fell asleep less than a half hour later.
My alarm woke me up. I said to the husband "Why you no wake me.: He was like, uh, your alarm went off? Maybe he is trying to rehabilitate me too.....
Bleugh. I am finding my morning cup of OJ far more wakable for me these days than coffee. Maybe I am fooling me because I do drink the coffee first. I am down to a thermos and a half though.
