I try not to think about my health issues and insurance costs. I do appreciate Gilead's coupon for my monthly medicine, otherwise I'd have to pay $300 a month for my must have med. Last time I checked it's 5k a month for it. You all can probably thank numbskulls like me for driving insurance costs up...

It's all a farce. I have to see a specialist every 4 months otherwise they won't give me my prescriptions. That alone is over $200 per visit out of pocket. I also have to give 7 vials of blood before I see the doctor and that can run as high as $300 after insurance.

On a more positive note, my plethora of clearance stuff from River Supply came in today. When I opened the box and looked at the packing list I was pretty ...... though. I ordered 31 items and it only showed 15 on the packing list. But then I learned one should always turn over the paper to see the rest on the other side.

I have my blonde moments.

I pay over $530 per month for medical and dental for both of us. That is my portion and does not include the even larger portion my company pays. It's good insurance though. But very expensive. They give us three options and I always choose the mid-range option since I want to be able to pick my doctors. It's in the rules that I have to be covered by insurance whether it's my company's or another outside insurance like if I had a husband who covered us.

I work for a very small company and pay way more than that and our coverage isn't very good. However, I don't really have a choice. I have to have insurance for the four of us. I stopped looking at the different lines on my paycheck because I don't want to see the number that is coming out for insurance. Also, we don't have dental but I buy a discount plan on my own.

When hubs was alive in last years he was on many meds even before the cancer. One of them he had to take before eating and cost $900 a month and that was for his pancreatitis. He had also earlier had a triple bypass. Since he couldn't continue to run his garage. Medicaid picked up the cost of his meds.

Don't forget that you can put medical bills on your taxes if you itemize. We have small medical bills and nothing else to itemize so it does me no good but I still put them down just in case. My state is an easier medical threshold to meet than federal so I always list everything on my tax forms just in case I can itemize on state. Parking fees, insurance payments, copays, prescriptions, mileage to and from doctor visits, mileage to and from pharmacies. It adds up. And if you have mortgage interest and other things to itemize to bump up your chances, it makes a huge difference. Although, my memory is failing me, I think it's even harder to itemize with the new tax changes. But something to think about to recoup some of those medical charges.

, aIf you have no insurance or are underinsured, you need to find the Federally Qualified Health (and often dental) center near you. They NEVER turn anyone away for lack of ability to pay, and they do sliding scale (sometimes close to 0 I know some families I worked with paid 10 bucks.) If it is a big enough program, they will get drugs at a special, lower price from the government,. In fact, well, they are good for the routine stuff. You really want to have no insurance to benefit the worst. Lots of immunizations are free. Etc. Type deal. I think it varies a bit state to state but overall it's like that is what they are really there for.

My son always did well there and he didn't have major issues but it was good. I did not do so well working in one but lets face it COVID etc.

I am deeply frustrated. I sent my doc an angry email I kind of maybe shouldn't have said but he was UPSETTING. I told him my detox plan, how he was involved, I told him the medical profession should have FOUGHT this instead of voting for it, I told him I was detoxing not because I wanted to, not because it was SAFE even but because I was SO DISGUSTED at docs HANDING Their rights to prescribe medications all freaking wide eyed and goofy with the government and how did they like it now and I told him I was doing HORRIBLE and I was tapering NOT because it was smart, it was the ANTITHESIS of smart, and how it was impacting me. I told him I would NEVER detox except out of complete malice and hate, and I told him he sucked, he was asking me dumb questions, and this is what HE and I discussed but he could tell the dang grocery store WHATEVER he wanted about my meds including to schedule them on a certain date for all I cared, but that if I plunged toward the psych unit, well, he might as well schedule a time to come to the funeral of a patient he murdered because he was like, still my doctor after all. I was just like BLOW ME pretty much.

He was probably like "OMG" I mean I try to be polite but I was like, "This is my rigid taper plan DO NOT screw it up, if you do I will not be happy and an unhappy Anna is a dangerous Anna."

Bleugh we have gotten nowhere with renting. NOWHERE. Some guy wanted us to look at his kid's house and yea, I am not paying that 1200 per month. That's nuts.

The chick with the trailer--she's a doc like leaving and whatnot so she got back to me. It is SWEET I am telling you I immediately like, wanted to live there. I emailed her many times. LOL the guy at the place was like, "You seen it, I mean will it have what you need?" I was like, "Electricity, water, hookups yeah as long as you have a laundry it's fine. I don't need much really dude, all I want is like, a place to sleep and eat.

Unless she is a super con artist, it is a VERY nice trailer.

    We shall see.

With the new tax laws it's very hard to beat the standard deduction. We used to itemize before the tax law changed. We had many deductions. We usually took stuff to donate a few times a year and would get something back for that as well as house interest and other things. Also the medical has to be a certain percentage over your income and we never even got close even with all the stuff my wife has had done over the years.

All this talk makes me very happy (1) I don't get enough from SSDI even to have to file taxes, (2) I have Medicare, (3) I virtually never go to the doctor anyway, because (4) I was diagnosed with MS so long ago that by the time all the disease-modifying drugs came out there was no point in my taking them and otherwise I'm very healthy.

    Sorry to brag.

Got my River supply order. They sent a big 30mL (I paid for 10mL) of the famous buttermint. LOL are they telling me something?

Insurance: I just started getting something like insurance this month. It's a form of managed care without the top dogs. Maestro.com over sees the plan. 158.00 every two weeks. Single plan (hubs has medicare now). I have dental for 14 every two weeks. I have to have some sort of insurance. I haven't used it yet!.

Bought a used Dell computer today. It is a Dell latitude 3570. I love it. My other one is going to go in for upgrades/wipe out hard drive/install Windows 10. I'm waiting for cooler weather. I have to get some files off the computer first.

I also obtained my two pairs of glasses today. One safety (progressive lens) and one regular with progressive lens. The safety is to use at work. Cheap management won't buy anything for the staff.

My company offers a plan for employee + children and it’s cheaper than the family plan. I would pay a lot more for a family plan.

I had Medicaid until my daughter turned 18. That was great. All of my meds were free. I had to pay for my psych out of pocket because the only psychiatrists that took Medicaid were the quacks at MHMR. I learned my lesson about them. Once my daughter turned 18, we had to go on the Affordable care act for two years until I was eligible for Medicare. That was Ok, but not great. My daughter is on the affordable care act, but it is horrible, just one step above catastrophic insurance. Why a 20 yo student with only a part time job can't get something better is beyond me. I still have to pay out of pocket for my psych as he doesn't take Medicare either. I think only the premium insurance covers psychiatrists and they are so rare in this state that they can do as they please.

Well it was a pretty boring day at work today. I’m tired of it not being busy.

I think I’ll look through some screenshots for ideas for new recipes to mix.

Same here. I had a rough day and I think some music and mixing is just what I need.

Hate being at work & there being no work, depends on the field too So since you're not busy, with a vaping range of 1.2 - 2.5 ohms I don't need more than sixty watts mod. What's better USB charging vs removable batteries in terms of longevity? That Vaspero mini is nice, you mentioned Agris? Just watched a Beginner's Mod YouTube, man that guy was boring.

Anyone use a whirlypop stovetop popcorn maker? The mechs of popcorn makers. Bought one on a whim after my electric air popper went kaput all of a sudden. Hopefully the whirlypop is as good as people say it is. I love how old timey it is. It's hard to watch movies without the ritual of popcorn. Tonight it is Planet of the Apes (1968)

Any deals ona couple Solos? US vendor only.
I've been on the lookout for Solo deals myself. @JCinFLA posted about the Aegis Max in the stocking up thread....
Ejuices.com and Eliquid.com have their Dog Days of August going on again this year until 11:00AM on the 19th. This year it's a little different though, as far as how it works.

$8 off an order of $50 or more - Code is DOGDAYS8
$15 off an order of $75 or more - Code is DOGDAYS15
$25 off an order of $100 or more - Code is DOGDAYS25

A particularly good deal, IMO, if anyone's interested:

Ejuices.com has the Aegis Max 100W mods in stock in 5 different color combinations/finishes. They can use the 18650, the 20700, or the 21700 and come with an adapter for the 18650 battery. They're regularly $39.98 each there, but I've seen them for more elsewhere. With the discount, if you buy 2, you end up paying just $32.48 each with Free S/H. If you buy 3, you pay $31.65 each with Free S/H.

I know it's a little bigger than the Solo, but seems like a decent deal.
