Yeah I don't drive Fords myself but it's free to my SIL (it's in his Mom's name and she is paying for all of this) so he's taking it. I drive a RAM.
Waaay back in my younger days a RAM saved my .....
I used to have a 1994 Chevy 4 x 4 that had a 8 inch lift kit on it. My friends and I used to spend every non working moment of our lives in the Everglades-- fishing and catching reptiles, it was our natural Disney World. One particular day I was deep in the back country, probably about 4 miles off the nearest paved road, and I got my Chevy stuck in mud. Mud so deep it came all the way up to the doors of the truck. Jeeps, Chevy's, and Fords all tried to pull us out to no avail... I started thinking if I had to hire a large tow truck to drive all the way back there to pull me out I'd have to pay thousands of dollars to do so.
I was off the famed Florida road called Alligator Alley, the Seminole Indian lands. A guy who tried to pull us out mentioned that the chief of the reservation had a flat track, which is basically a vehicle that has tracks on it similar to what you see on military
tanks. I hitched a ride to the one sole gas station on Alligator Alley. I asked a few guys where the chief lived and they told me it was about 7 miles up the road. Damn, I am going to have to walk in all this heat just to get my truck out of the mud.
Then I saw a huge, lifted red Dodge Ram pull up to one of the pumps. It was a very large guy and he was an Indian. I asked him if he knew where the chief lived and he said, "that's me, I am the chief". I told him my situation and he told me to get in the truck. He wanted to drive to the location and as we did I told him about all the other vehicles that tried to pull me out, and that his truck would not be able to do it. I warned him not to pull up to my truck because the mud was so deep.... he backed right up to it not even listening to my warning.
He jumped out into the mud, grabbed a large chain out of the bed of his truck and secured it to my truck. "Get in your truck and put it in reverse" he told me. I of course had my doubts.
When he floored his engine it was painfully obvious that this was no regular stock Dodge. Mud flew about 30 feet in the air and he yanked my truck out with ease. When I got out, I offered to pay him and he said these words, "Use that money to buy you a Dodge". I laughed and thanked him profusely.
I never took the Chevy down that trail again.
