Sometimes I cut my grass 2x a week, all depends. I like to keep it on the short side. If I let my grass go for 2 weeks it would be a complete PIA to cut.

Cutting the grass was one of my chores as a kid. My pops had me cutting grass as soon as I was able to handle the push mower.

When I was a kid we had a manual push mower. Similar to one of these babies, except we kept it in primo condition.

I started with one of those. Cut our yard plus both sets of grandparents yards with it didn't know there was any other kind of mower until I was around 12 or13

Reminded me of a funny story (wasn't funny at the time). I was in a relationship, was working 2 jobs and he worked one. My only day off was Sunday so on the hottest day of the year I mowed my overgrown grass. It was super hard to do and a large yard. While I mowed, he sat on the patio drinking a cold beer, never offering to help. I got angrier the longer I mowed and by the time I finished, I was pretty mad. I calmly went up to him and asked why he sat there while I mowed and he said, "I work hard all week and figure weekends are my time to relax."

I told him he had one hour to get his stuff and get out.

I do not like lazy men. I work very hard and I’m constantly doing something (by nature since I’m single and have no choice, and by personality). It’ll be hard for me to date if they don’t do as much as me. I get it from my Dad. We can’t be still and like to be busy and productive and creative. I am also not a typical woman. I would rather work in the yard than clean house. I don’t like those defined roles like my parents. My son did pick up all the sticks in the yard and was my gofer for equipment. He is currently studying for finals (taking a test right now). But he is not lazy.

I hope you didn't think I was implying anything about your son. None of my kids want anything to do with yardwork. They didn't get my love of gardening and won't go outside for fear of bugs lol. They do other stuff though like heavy lifting so it all evens out.

Oh goodness no! I’m not easily offended. Grown men are completely different than kids. My nephews never did anything. My boss has three boys and nope...none of it. Kids are different today. My son will flat out tell you he’s not buying a house or having a yard when he moves out. But my son helps me tremendously in other ways.

I used to do it every week but I got tired of it. I probably would if my yard was flat and easy and small. But I have too much on my plate so now I do it every two weeks. It actually looks healthier.

If I waited two weeks to mow, I could hide small animals in it. Not to mention someone would probably call the city to complain.

I don’t fertilize and it’s mainly weeds any way. It’s green though and it looks ok. Now if it gets really thick due to tons of rain (or around the field lines) I’ve had trouble. But I just raise the blades. I can’t push mow for over three hours on a difficult yard every weekend in the dead of summer. Not happening. We all mow every two weeks around here. It had been almost a month since I did it last and it was fine.

It all looks the same from space. :vapor:
