Let me first say that I'm not "sticking up" for Vaper1960. I don't know what really takes place at his house, what his Mom will or won't let him do for her, nor the type or extent of his mother's dementia and how those things affect their interractions.
Yes... thank you. You are spot on about my situation (and my mistake for even getting drawn into this) My biggest flaw is when I get "defensive"... try too hard to explain and yes... it's really just TMI that is not anyone's business. Nuff said.
BTW, mom showed me a video of my dad in physical therapy after his hematoma surgery. They said he could barely walk but mom suggested bringing his tennis racket... they threw a rubber ball and he totally was back! Didn't miss a single toss, spinning his tennis racket, moving around. I am so glad she has that video. We both miss him. My cousins called him "uncle ace"... and he was always an ace to me. I sometimes call myself "ace from space" (guitarist from KISS nickname) Hey... I went to high school in the late 70's... most of us were "spaced out" back then. When I see a photo of him, I'm not sad... just the opposite (I love those photos) I'm attempting to turn this around into a good thing. Maybe try not to assume and be so judgemental of people until you know "the rest of the story" Anyway... I really just wanted to talk DIY and vape stuff.

I had a newspaper delivery route as a kid. Those Sunday morning papers were thick and heavy in the sack compared to the Mon-Sat papers.

My favorite, and first job as a youngster, was as a successful self employed entrepreneur. I painted and sold rocks. I would hike down to the river, collect the flatter rocks, bring 'em home, clean them and then paint them. I used to go door to door around the neighborhood selling them. When I was paid a quarter or a half dollar for a painted rock I swore I hit the big time. I mean, that was the big time for a young kid.

Can't even count all the different jobs I had through my school years.

Thanks. Here is a photo taken when I felt the Force of the completed Fig Newton mix.

Nerdy lab coat, stupid gloves, tie, dress shirt and safety glasses already removed. Silver hair thingamabob was a wig, didn't want my real hair flying all over my clean room lab. Back to tank top, cutoffs and flipflops. Hair let down, but too hot, tied up in back.

The tall graduated cylinder with the light golden liquid is the Fig Newtons mix. Yes, yes, I know my mixing lab looks scientifically cool. It is. :D

I'm trying to decide between JF Yellow Cake and FLV Pound cake. I haven't even opened my little bottle of Yellow Cake I got a while back and I really like the FLV Pound Cake. Decisions..............
I like both. But haven't used JF yellow cake in quite a while. I figured the Fig Newtons mix was about as good as any time to use it.

I dont get along with my mother and no one here realises to what extent that actually is, but if I had my health in any way shape or form I would drop everything to help her if she needed, and have in the past my own disability notwithstanding...

And I would never in a million years talk about her the way I've heard others speak about their own mother in this thread, oh so casually as if that's in some way a normal way to speak about the woman who birthed and raised them.

I do have that poster on ignore, because it's not the kind of talk I can deal with kindly, or excuse, or care to listen to the B.S. excuses for.

I do over share at times, because this is my social life - the only one I'm capable of having physically, and I care for most everyone here. But this isn't comparable as some believe to Anna who is mentally ill and can't help herself at times... this is without excuse.

There is mentally ill, there is over-sharing, and then there is inexcusable and just plain wrong.

That's my opinion.
Very well said. I totally agree with you. 100%

Oh. I did not know that. Guess I don't stay that up-to-date on who's where. Well, at least a bunch of her recipes are still there. Where did she go?

I have her book, BraveTart: Iconic American Desserts, on my iPad and iPhone. It's really good for vape juice ideas. :D
I have it, too.

I could've sworn I knew where she ended up but can't find anything specific now. She's referred to as an editor emeritus on Serious Eats. A year ago, in response to questions about her whereabouts, Daniel Gritzer said, "She's taking a much-deserved break after cranking nonstop at SE for years (including one week every month in NYC for photo and video shoots), plus doing all her book promotion on top of that. She's still a contributing editor at SE, but it may be a while until she's ready to write new articles and recipes. But please don't worry, she's well and forever a part of the SE family!" That said, she's contributed nothing new to the site for ages.

Your best bet is to NOT talk about your situation in this thread. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to PM me. I have been down that road, as have a few others on here, and it's NOT an easy road. Dementia SUCKS. But, it seems you get beat up pretty bad here, and I may not know you, but it seems you just may need an ear to listen. Take care. Also, VERY cool about your dad :)

Might as well delete your PROBABLY nasty PM to me. I will not be reading it. Don't waste your time. Too bad the people here don't know the REAL you. They WOULD if I were allowed to share PMs. Pretty smart of you to bombard me, degrade me, debase me in a PM where others cannot see the real you.

Back to DIY, Folks. Really, NOTHING at ALL to see here. I apologize for interrupting the thread. But felt the need to speak to someone who is dealing with dementia in the family. Been there, done that, so have a few others, who I know.

Still loving my Black Honey Leaf flavor from FJ. Thank you to those who led me to that company. Very happy.

Seeing as your post addressed me...

Everything in my PM to you from long ago was true about you and your wacky outerworld behaviors.

Funny. Only time you come running in here is when something is up with a specific poster. It's a known pattern with you now. Most will see that for what it is.

And don't make up feeble lies about me. It makes you look pathetic and very weak. 70+ years old and trolling, wow, most 70+ year old folks wouldn't waste the time. Plenty of people here know the real me. It is you who doesn't realize that sweetie.

As retired1 sternly admonished you, take it to PM's. But you refuse to try and settle things and then move beyond. Look who looks silly now.

Your attraction to me is amusing. But really, you should let it all go.

I thought when I left and gave you guys a break from me that everything would turn into unicorns and rainbows here. I come back to let everyone know about a 50% off sale and my toxicity is still contagious.

I apologize, but want to add-- I just ate 5 pulled pork sandwiches.:)

It's funny that it's okay to degrade other people. Must be nice to be perfect. Not a SINGLE lie has been said by me today. I DO come here often for advice.
Ask most of these folks. Since the mail problems, I've had to learn about DIY. I have nothing to apologize for, nor will I. But to demean a son dealing with a mom with dementia, regardless of who does or doesn't like him is WRONG. Dementia is horrid to live with and beyond sad to those of us caring for them.
I apologize again, Folks. But y'all go off topic now and then for sure.
