I'm still dog sitting for my mom's Jack Russell terrier, Daisy. She's a complete spoiled turd, and fat to boot, too. That was my father's fault. She was his service dog and he wouldn't go anywhere without her. He used to give her "tidbits" from his plate and I'm thinking that my mother is doing the same. She's fussy about her food, won't eat anything but the refrigerated expensive dog food. Her favorite game is fetch, but she refuses to let go of the toy so that the human can throw it for her to fetch it. I'm in the process of training her to do that. She almost always has to be on the lap when you are sitting or shadowing if you are walking about the house. It gets a little old. She was like the fifth, and favorite, child when my dad was alive. She even was mentioned in his obituary.

Are you able to take Buster with you? To see if they will take to each other? How is she with women? Does she have any training? Are you able to take her for a short walk on your own? Try giving her a dog treat. Is she gentle in taking it? How is she with toys?

We rescued a GSD male some years back. His name was Brighton. Beautiful pure bred red sable. He was ok for about a week. Got along fine with our other GSD and was fine with our cats. Then one day while walking him he tagged me real good and hard just below my knee.

It was sudden and for no reason at all. There was no warning and no change in his body language. Afterwards he knew he did wrong. It was written all over his body language. I'm no stranger to getting tagged by GSD's but that's usually with a bite suit and sleeve. This however was very unusual.

Turns out the previous owner used an electric shock training collar on him. They neglected to tell us "how" they trained him using that collar. We checked his neck and there were many "bumps" all around his neck on his skin from the shock collar. Those should not be there even if an electric collar is used. So, that told us they had the power cranked on the collar. In other words they had no clue what they were doing or the proper way to use that collar. I am no fan of that kind of training. It doesn't have a place in training with any canine at all.

We took him up to Angie's place and tried unsuccessfully to work with him for about a month. Each time I wore a bite suit. I got tagged a few more times. Each time he knew he did wrong, body language. After much discussion with Angie and the other trainers we all decided putting him down was in his (and our) best interests.

That one still stings. Couldn't trust him though. I was ...... and really wanted to use an electric shock collar on his previous owners. Would have served them right in my book. We never dealt with rescues again.

I don't say any of that to scare you Skeebs. Wouldn't do that to you Bro, you know that. It's just "stuff" to keep in mind when it comes to rescues. :)

Upon chatting with the lady further she started sending some red flags. "We have a lot of people asking for her, how much are you willing to offer?". This after saying she was free to a good home.

    So I backed off.

I wish I lived closer. I'd bring Carli over and together we could get Buster squared away with some training. Buster is still young enough to be trained in order to work that out of him.

All you need is a proper training collar, a muzzle and a 6 foot lead. The muzzle would be temporary. Also need some willing to socialize with GSD people. Your strong arms, and teaching him, so he understands, that you are the Alpha in the pack. He should take all cues from you when around people. And I honestly don't think it would take very long to get him straight.

Some training, with a bunch of patience, and I'm confident Buster would be fine with people. He can do this Skeebs!

He is only aggressive towards strangers inside our house. Outside on walks he's fine.

Good afternoon. I finally mixed @charlie1465 ’s Mango Cream. It is most excellent. And simple too. I’m really enjoying it. I’m debating on whether I want to cut my grass for the last time this season, or clean bathrooms, or both. Neither will be fun.
    Glad you like it.....

    Somewhere between here and there
Good morning mixers. Starting a new work week is less than exciting. However, next week will be a three day work week for me. I had to use a vacation day for Friday but will have a four day weekend.
