Hi, all, made it! And, of course, Phoenix is getting ready to break 90 while I'm here...

Long drive and thankfully no issues, other than the price of gas :-x While not electic or hybrid, happy that I get 30+ cruising...

Request for advice.

I changed most of my tanks to SS and TC now. Before I used kanthal 28g, 2.5ID, 6 wraps at 12W with Lemos, 10W with KFL's. Always MTL. Made the SS coils exactly the same size. Trouble is now I can only get one good hit and I have to wait for it to cool down or it goes straight to temp protection.

I can get a bit more doing DL on the Lemos but I don't like that much.

Should I be using a larger coil with more resistance? Thicker wire?
You are using Pico 75's with Arctic Fox right?
Did you make any changes via Arctic Fox?

With TC once you see the Temp Protection message the mod will start throttling back your set wattage. That is to be expected and means TC is working properly. The Temp Protect message means the coil reached the maximum set temperature during a hit.

After you get one good hit is the next hit weak to non-existent?

What temperature do you have set on your mod?
Try raising the temp. You can safely go as high as 450°F. Some folks go higher. I never go over 450°F and usually run between 390°F and 440°F.

Too much wick can also cause weak hits in TC with an almost immediate Temp Protect message. I've had that happen before.

Your coil is 28g SS316L, 2.5ID, 6 wrap. That comes out to about 0.6Ω, right??? In my opinion, 28g 316L being thin wire will get hot, and reach Temp Protect, pretty quickly. I would switch to 26g SS316L.

I normally run 26g SS316L simple round wire and 26/36 SS316L clapton wire on all my RBA's.

I'm vaping on a Pico 75w with a Kayfun lite 2019. My coil is a 26/36 316L clapton, 2.5ID, 7 wrap, 0.5Ω.

Using your 12w and 400°F, I'm able to chain vape and get decent hits even with the Temp Protect message. I get the Temp Protect message after about 3 seconds but am still able to get good hits.

When I lower the temp to 360°F I get one good hit. The next hit is very weak and I get the Temp Protect message pretty quickly. Which means TC is working as it should. The mod senses 360° at the coil and throttles back the wattage.

If I further lower the temp to 330°F then TC kicks in near instantaneously and all hits, after the first, are weak. Again, working as it should.

Try raising the temperature.
Make sure your wick is not too tight in the coil.
Switch to 26g SS316L wire.

Hey all. I had to hold my umbrella for 53 minutes but I got my walk in. Of course, the jammies and tea had to make an early appearance this afternoon.

I am one of those who love DST. May have something to do with when I go to sleep or because I prefer not to do things when the sun is in cook mode.

There are going to be pros and cons to either way and it is impossible to please everyone. Since I have no choice. . . I will adjust and just be happy I don't have to change the clocks. rat.gif

Hope everyone has a nice evening.

I slept 8 hours, a rarity. I did take the Qunol Sleep stuff so maybe it works!
I would love to sleep 8 hours. I don't think I've ever done that. I have never heard of the Qunol so I am going to have to look into that. I hope it continues to work for you.

Either works for me, just stop with the changing....

Conversely, AZ is year round standard, so this time of year when I visit I don't have to change my watch or bed time :)

Are you making spaced coils with your SS316L?

Your coils need to be spaced with TC. They cannot be contact coils.

Compressed coils (touching) don't work in TC mode. That will also give you fits with overheat and temp cutoff. The mod has to be able to read a spaced coil to control temperature.

ETA: Make sure your coil is at room temperature when you attach it to your mod so the resistance is read correctly. Also, I never lock resistance when running TC. Some mods require that. In my experience the Pico 75's do not. Same with DNA mods (in fact Evolv recommends against locking resistance).

Yes, but they got it wrong for a number of reasons. Standard time is the actual time as it relates to the physical world. Going to an artificial construct causes quite a few problems. This should be interesting.

@ShowMeTwice My cotton says Organic Upland, Sliver, Utility Cotton. So what is that. Right stuff?
Yes, you have the "Right Stuff". ;) :D Cottonman Organic Upland Sliver is corded. It is organic but not USDA certified organic.

Organic Upland Sliver used to be Mavaton's Select. It's my preferred cotton.
