    Good morning folks,

We had our four GSD's with us, bears are naturally afraid of dogs. My son in law had his glock. A single warning shot will have any bear high tailing it right quick.
If I had bears near where I live, shotgun loaded with slugs.
Not that I hate bears, more respect I have for them.

Bear attacks in the USA are very rare. Bears prefer to avoid contact with humans. Younger bears are more curious, less wise and can be more aggressive.

Our dogs alerted us that something was nearby. My son in law had his Glock 20. As this story shows a Glock 20, 2 shots, grizzly bear done.
Grizzly bears (western US + Alaska) are quite a bit larger versus the black bears we have around here.

We love the wildlife around here. None of us hunt. Only if a bear charged would we shoot to kill.

ETA: I'll take a pistol in thick woods versus a shotgun, any day.

Don't normally think this far ahead, but was up at Home Depot picking up some storage tubs, and went past the furnace filter aisle. There wasn't anyone in it, the filters were nice an neat. Picked up a new furnace filter. Wont be running the furnace for a while, but what the heck. In another month the filter aisle will be a mess of people and mangled filters, so I grabbed the opportunity.

Vacuumed out the furnace, installed the new filter, and did a few tests of the condensate pump, to make sure that was working good. A little earlier than usual, but that's one thing off the fall to do list.

I should note, this is bear hunting season in my state (deplorable losers). Over the years bear and deer have come to know our land as a sanctuary of sorts. We do not allow ANY hunters on our land ever. Last ones a few years back refused to leave, we had them arrested. Simple.

I consider myself a dog handler, rifle has not been with me after 2014.
Most wild animals run away, the danger with things like bears is if we are put in a situation where the bear feels trapped.
Fortunately, bears are not a theme in my district, have to travel many hours to find one.

I think my old Perique mix from.....well, September 2021 has expired.
Tomorrow I will mix some Stixx again, this time in 25ml.

Fits well since I bought a couple of dozen of square glass bottles, who should arrive tomorrow

Dogs are good like that. Not sure I would risk going out in my neighborhood without the dogs. The squirrels are watching you from every tree and bush, just waiting for the slightest sign of weakness or inattention to pounce. And the cyclists, and USPS trucks. It's a scary world but the dogs spot danger a mile away and warn them off.

    Thought I smelled something burning............LOL
A neuroscientist friend of mine explained it like this... sometimes a few of our estimated 86 billion neurons give off a burning smell while hard at work conducting 86 billion to 17.2 trillion action potentials, or synaptic fires [sic], per second.

IOW, lotsa simultaneous action, bound to be a burning smell on occasion.

    Somewhere between here and there
BCF has PG/VG too. I was thinking of giving them a try next time.
I just got a liter of pg from them. I don’t go through a lot so it will last me quite a while.

Mail call was impressive - well Amazon delivery anyway. :w00t: Got the new shoes, they are Sketchers Go Walk and boy are they sweet. I ordered the 14 X-Wide and they fit perfect. Then I got 3 pairs of shorts, some undies. I also ordered 2 t-shirts from King Size since they were $11.99 and they had 4X Tall. It's like Christmas around here.
