I ordered a new computer for the wife last night. Her old one had some hard disk failures last week and Windows ran an automatic fix program. She mostly uses it for watching videos. Only 20% of her 1TB disk was used so I got a smaller disk, but SSD. More memory, DDR5. It should be a lot faster. Now I have to figure out the transfer. I'm thinking of getting PCmover to save myself some boring manual work. Still expecting several days of round the clock brain stress. She's busy now writing down all her passwords in a book.
Anyone here done this recently?
Once that's finished I can get one for myself. Similar but with more memory and a decent video card so I can play games that came out after 2012.
I got a tower rather than all in one or laptop. Mainly because I want them to be upgradable and repairable.
Both of our computers are over ten years old. Going from Win 10 to Win 11. Win 11 seems to be getting past some of its earlier problems. Fingers crossed on that. You can't
buy a new computer with Win 10 now. And they don't come with DVD/CD drives as standard anymore, you have to get a plugin USB box if you want to use disks.
