So, another question... I was under the impression that DX flavors are simply made without “undesirables” but taste the same for the most part. I’ve recently noticed mixers stating DX taste better sometimes (TFA pomegranate) and vice versa. For someone not concerned with the DX aspect but only the actual flavor, are they different enough you might actually need both the original and the DX versions?
I'm with dc99, in that I find the amount of difference, and whether I prefer the regular or cleaned up version, will vary from flavor to flavor. In a pinch, I have subbed one for the other, without drastic consequences. Like subbing any concentrate for another, it is not going to be the same, but it often is inside the ballpark of acceptability.:)

Using TFA's home website is a good tool to use. Reading the descriptions, and looking at the component lists (far right column "List"), can give you an idea of how "different" they might be (use Pomegranate, and Pomegranate Deluxe, as an example). Also, reading reviews and comments on sites like ELR, Bull City Flavors, Nicotine River, and ecig express, can create an idea of what other prefer and why.

And just as an FYI (and strictly my opinion); the one thing TFA has done poorly, is naming/renaming "cleaned-up" concentrates. Unlike companies like Capella, who have a straightforward system like "V2" to identify reformulated concentrates; TFA can't seem to decide what to do. Some are labeled at "DX," others will be called "Deluxe," and yet others get a whole new name (Vanilla Swirl is reformulated Vanilla custard; Vanilla Bean Gelato is reformulated Vanilla Bean ice Cream; etc.). Reading the side-by-side descriptions (the first link above) is the only way I have caught these reworked formulas, and given me ideas for substitutions.;)

Interested enough in this sorbet to mix another. Maybe I can manage to use some less sweet fruits this time.
When I read your recipe, the first thought I had, was "this looks like a good candidate for FA-Forest Fruit." I find it a good non-sweet dark berry blend, that can be steered toward a specific berry, by subtle addition of a second berry that is desired to be dominant/forward (e.g. blue, black, rasp., etc.).
The only flavor I can’t find that’s on my list is Blue Raspberry Slush.
That does look like the One Stop DIY Shop flavor. That is a proprietary (created by One Stop themselves) concentrate available only from OSDIYS (or Chefs Flavours if you are ordering from the U.K.).:)

between here and there
I've been reading and taking notes for a few weeks and have about 44+ pages now of flavors/recipes that I've always gravitated to with retail liquid, so my initial recipes will be those that I'm quite certain that I will like. The individual flavors that I chose were those that I am pretty certain I'll use, have seen used repeatedly in recipes, or have been discussed here at length for the profiles that all of you have been shooting for. Of those discussions, I've been taking note of WHO the poster is (FranC = can't do sweet, Letitia's same flavor/different company pairings for that i.e. 'perfect pear, grape, etc.', for example), so I know what to expect out of the flavors in particular.

There will most certainly be duds along the way and it will probably be a while before I get to use the Amber, but I can get down with some cooked fruity stuffs, oh yes. ;)

Don't worry, I won't be making a 100ml of anything yet. :w00t:
I just didn't want you to be disappointed if you find your taste buds are not in agreement with someone elses'. Just like with food, not everyone likes the same things. Can you at least start with smaller amounts of the recipes you want to make. 15ml sounds good. There is enough to give you approx 3 tank fulls to really test not only the flavor but how it may change in time while actually using it. Some flavorings do not fully kick in on the 1st tank full.(That can also be the coil/wicking in addition to flavor.)

We have all seen too many quit DIY because of frustration of trying and thinking they are doing something wrong when in reality they really just might not like the flavor and did nothing wrong at all.

Of course it is your decision and we will be here to help you along the way......

Good luck.

:)

Oh and @PJReid I really love the tart in TFA Cranberry but it fades into sweetness after a week or so for me. Has yours done this? I'll be mixing smaller bottles and hope to vape it up while still tart.

I haven't noticed a fade into sweetness with the cranberry. That is odd and is the first time I have heard someone say that.

I accidentally mixed up 480mls of my favorite Fizzy Pink Lemonade. I had it on my list of things to mix, forgot I did it and mixed it again. I am a little worried that it will fade before I use it up. Maybe I should give some of this away.

So, is WS-23 the same thing as koolada? I have Koolada but went ahead and ordered a small bottle of the ws23 to try.

I went ahead and placed my order. I got up to $25 and didn't want to spend any more right now.

Commercial WS-23 is a 30% liquid concentrate. Koolada is a 10% liquid concentrate. Koolada is actually icier than WS-23, but the difference between a 30% concentrate and a 10% concentrate makes the WS-23 brain freeze icy if used at the same % as Koolada. Koolada is 150% the strength of menthol and WS-23 is 75% the strength of menthol. The 30% concentrate of WS-23 is 1.5% icier than Koolada.

Must be my crazy taste buds.

IDK, it might steep into something sweeter. I am pretty new to mixing with cranberry flavors. Still waiting for the dirt to steep out of the FLV cranberry I used in a small batch of Cranberry Gin and Tonic.

Thank you for this idea! That will be my next sorbet - Forest Fruit with some FW Blueberry. :)

I saw that and thought of Lemon Coolers - I used to loooooove those cookies !
Too bad you can't get them any more :(

Can't remember the brand but there are some similar that pops up in one of the local stores here. They are so tasty, love the way they bite the tongue.

Always keep in mind taste is subjective when reading anything. I recommend doing the singles but also mix a couple 2-3 ingredient mixes and have some fun. 15ml testers are nice for mixes at first, leaves plenty of wiggle room to experiment with.

Does this case hold 30ml pet bottles??
If you could find the dimensions of the bottle that can be checked against the amazon description. Amazon list what it can hold. I have that case and 30ml bottles that NR sends out for purilum fit just fine.

    :)
