I've tried a nice selection of WF's flavors and I'm pretty happy with them, but not comparing to other brands, I just don't really have the experience yet. I will say I did sfts of wf peach pie and cream and CAP Peaches and Cream at 5% and the wf pie was more flavorful, still wanted a little more peach though. Did a 5% WF Shortbread cookie and that was too strong for me, will probably keep that one to 2 to 3% max.

I often wonder how much difference many of us get from flavors due to our different vape setups or styles. The conversation about %'s with @AXIOM_1 above got me thinking about it again.
I almost exclusively vape on an Aromamizer Plus RTA with dual Kanthal coils around .2 to .3 at 60 to 80 watts, pretty warm, cloudy, and flavorful. I was concerned when I started mixing about sweetness levels especially because I was getting really turned off of how sweet so many commercial liquids are. I figured I wanted some sweetener and used up to 1% in mixes for about a month, but that quickly tapered off and I don't add sweeteners to any of my mixes right now.
As far as flavor percentages, some of my initial tries were around 20% some closer to 10%. The higher percentage recipes I wanted to try for others who were using commercial liquids or mtl style tanks like the Nautilus, the lower ones were more for me. A lot of the mixes I've been doing lately are anywhere from 13 down to 6% total, no sweetener. Many flavors come off a little sweet to me as they are. I do single flavor testers at 5% as a baseline, a couple have been too strong for me, but that may be because the flavor didn't agree with my pallette (it tasted funky lol). Mixes, i think the max I'm using for a main flavoring is 6%, with maybe 3% for more supporting flavorings, and that's pretty darn strong generally.
One more thing to note: steeeeeep. Sweetness seems to come out more with steeping along with flavor. I've been happiest with pretty much all my mixes after 1 month, a couple I have had for over 2 months and they really feel "right" now. So sad, I have about 10 mls of one of my first recipes, a hazelnut latte, and it is so good but it's going to get vaped tomorrow lol, and then it's gone. I need to mix that one again. Recipe! (not mine) found on ELR.

Hazelnut Latte -
1% Fresh Cream FA
0.5 Dark Bean (Coffee Espresso) FA
1.5 Double Chocolate CAP
1 Dulce de Leche TPA
3 Hazel Grove (Hazelnut) FA
2 Hazelnut V2 CAP
0.5 Irish Cream FA
0.5 Milk & Honey FLV
2 Pralines and Cream CAP
I agree the differences in gear will definitely have a effect on flavor.

It’s toasty nutty not sweet...right up my alley! Right now im running it in one, and the shattered lemon in another. I’ll switch that to a citrus hibiscus next.
So glad you're liking it.:) You have to know that any of my recipes aren't sweet.

I can’t remember if I did a screenshot of the shattered lemon recipe. I’ll have to look for it.

I actually reviewed all the flavors at Nic River for the sale but didn’t put anything in the cart. WHHHAAAAT?! !
The truth is I’ve spent ALL my money on hardware lol  !

My New Years resolution is to use as many of the 175 flavors I ALREADY have before buying more!

TFA Sweetener is Sucralose 5%, Maltol 5%, and Water. FW Sweetener and FLV Sweetness are 10% Sucralose. CAP Super Sweet is Sucralose 10%, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate, Potassium Sorbate, and Water. Someone already listed the ingredients in Sugar Daddy which does contain at least some EM. If ethyl maltol is your problem, TFA Sweetener will make it worse, esp. if your flavors already contain EM.

Thanks for the info :) yeah I will have to look more into the constituents of the flavors .. I will eventually get this sorted out (I hope) ;)

It is not only EM — Maltol, Vanillin and Sucralose all may mute the flavor of the juice for me. Sometimes I can taste the juice initially and after that it is lights out and never comes back. No doubt the flavor manufacturers are aware of what these compounds do however they use them in their flavorings for other purposes.
    Well said!

When I first began to DIY, I subscribed to the "more is more complex, and therefore, 'better'" school. I was wrong! 6 vanillas, are not necessarily, better than one or two.

Complex recipes can have their place.... when well conceived. Otherwise, I am just making one more "hot mess." Muddled flavors, muted profiles, and unidentifiable results are the more likely result (similar ingredients that end up conflicting with one another; vs. complimenting each other)... for me, anyway. This is why I prefer to build "up" vs. "down." Adding an extra ingredient, to fill out a missing note; is far easier, than identifying two or three ingredients that are stepping on one another's toes.

Hardware, power/temperature, airflow, and even coil choice all have significant influence on flavor perception... in my own experience. This is why I will never condemn/condone a recipe for its percentages... high, or low.

Instead, I expect them to need adjustment for my own personal preferences.

What I am most interested in, is the flavor concentrate relationships (ratios). A recipe may be shared at "flavor #1 @ 10% to flavor #2 @ 5%." This may be way "over flavored," or "under flavored" to my own personal tastes, and hardware choices. But, as I try to adjust them, I try to retain that 2:1 ratio the author suggested. I may end up at 2%+1%, 5%+2.5%, or even 20%+10%. But, I have retained the author's suggested 2:1 ratio.

That too, may need adjustment; but first, I try to find what is most(?) appropriate/pleasing result, for my set-up. Only then, I will begin to adjust the individual ingredients to my own specific needs/desires.

But, then again, that is the beauty of DIY. We get to make the e-liquid we like, in the manner that works best, for our own individual needs/desires.

    Good morning all!

@IDJoel excellent post. And spot on.

Last night I ran across a few interesting recipes. The coming year I want to build my flavors with more of the ultra concentrates like Flavorah and Medicine Flower. I like the thought of a great vape at 3% flavor. But last night I found two recipes, one was at .8 % and one was at .43 %. That just blows my mind.

MF is one I just never could get into. Hard to find and a PITA to deal with. Almost need to make solutions to mix with because of the amounts and takes forever to steep. The few I tried were ok but nothing special. Ecigexpress has them under the name "lotus".

I really like my other OSDIY flavor, Bloody vape. Shoved it in a Kabuki and no harshness, chemical taste. But, it's good. I'm so bad at describing things so I shall call it good.

TOO MUCH to do today. Sigh. Last week just kicked my .....

Vapemail awaits. I await the husband waking up my dang body clock woke me at five and I would have preferred like 7. Oh well, hope for the best I guess. I feel sleep deprived...

I think most of what I’m going to buy will probably be in the Flavorah line but there a few MFs that I want. Lemon, strawberry, maybe pear. It is really hard to find a lemon that doesn’t fade.

FE Lemon seems to be the one folks say lasts the longest.
