between here and there
I grew up eating the occasional Flapper Pie - my mom hails from Manitoba and it's a Canadian prairie recipe. I betcha I haven't seen one in 40 years.
My mom was born in Canada and I think she was 5 when her family moved to US. My grandmother used to make this all the time I was growing up. Yum...

:)

So I'm not the only one who hasn't had one for 40 years! :)

I just did a flavor order last weekend - I saw the Flapper Pie but I figured it's easy enough to DIY with flavors I already have.

Custard
Butter
Graham Cracker
Meringue
Touch of Cinnamon

Admittedly though, I'm getting pretty lazy about mixing and if it's a really good one-shot I'd be willing to try it out :D

I have never seen or had a flapper pie. I always thought it was made of like, Anais Nin and her ilk, and I considered it a really good use of her corpse, except for the fact she had TB.

I don't think it's catching if the person is dead and/or cooked, but I never knew for sure. Now , thanks to the miracle of the internet I know.

Although "The fact that many have never seen one for 40 years.... " It makes me wonder, the timing could be right. Etc.

That does look really delicious. I had to look up the recipe to check, I thought at first the filling was some some sort of cheesecake with a meringue topping, but it is actually a vanilla custard. Even better.

What really confuses this poor Scotsman is the whole concept of a "Graham cracker/crumb". I'm not a proficient baker by any means, but to my knowledge, we don't have such a product in the UK. We are reduced to smashing up packets of digestive biscuits and Jacob's cream crackers with a rolling pin .

I’m pretty sure that here you can buy a premade graham pie crust. Do they not sell graham crackers there in a package that you could crush?
Just take some butter and melt in skillet. Mix crushed graham cracker with butter to moisten and press into a pie pan. Can make up a chocolate pudding but use a bit less milk so that it is thicker than pudding and pour into pie pan. Refrigerate to set up and top with whipped cream or meringue. :)

Apparently, you can get them on Amazon, but not any of the major UK supermarkets. At £10 a box !!!

Added it to the wish list. I’m interested to see what y’all think of it. Sounds like a good building base

Mine will be slightly different than @Heartsdelight. I will be using CAP Lemon Meringue Pie instead of VT Lemon Meringue Tart because I am under the impression that VT one-shot concentrates possibly has sucralose in it or something else. I could be totally wrong and until someone tells me otherwise I will not buy any of their one-shot — maybe ;)

@Heartsdelight — When you try it, can you please let me know if you can taste meringue.

Lemon meringue pie - the best yet.

I have always loved graham crackers. Even straight from the box. :)
