Thinking about mixing with weights, in theory one could place their bottle on the scales and add each ingredient by ml(syringe) and then write down the grams that the scales displays in grams and put the gram weight in their written recipes along side the mls. This way you know your own recipes will be exactly as the ones mixed with ml.

:)

Doesn’t @stols001 do something like this but marks the bottles not the syringes? I may try that with some of the recipes I mix the most so I’m pretty confident in what percentages I like.

Does anyone subscribe to diyordie?

Yep I do. I watch a lot of the videos but mainly read the flavor reviews.

I find the @thefogvlog guys the best all around for doing flavor profiles and mixer reviews. I haven’t seen any posts since January on here though.

I’ve learned so much about mixing and flavors and it’s noticeably improved my mixing. I follow them on YT. I don’t think they got a very good reception here which imo is too bad since they have oodles of great info to share even for DIYers that have been mixing for awhile.

There is probably not any info there that can't be found somewhere else. It is nice to have a lot of articles available in one place and Wayne has covered a large variety of topics. I found it more useful when I was new to DIY and don't use it often these days. Still, I keep the subscription, just in case there is something I want to read up on. I realize that isn't a terribly helpful answer. o_O My favorite and most used section are the write-ups from the flavor notes chats. They discuss one flavor and cover all of the brands. There are usually 4 reviewers, some more familiar with one brand than another. That is helpful, IMO.

I agree and for the relatively low cost it’s worth it imo.

Evening all,

Thanks everyone for your suggestions.

In the end, I think it was down to a skanky coil, or possibly a hot spot. Changed out the wick and the coil, and it was a lot better.

Recipe I was referring to was this one: Nutters medley

Glad you got it figured out and you’re enjoying your vape again :thumb: !!

I mixed Ella’s Shortbread too & it was meh to me too. I’ll try adding the Forest Fruit to it. Do you remember the %?
It depends on how forward you want the fruit. FA Forest Fruit is a potent one. So, @TheTinMan's advise to start low, and work your way up as needed, is sound.

I am with @NolaMel's recommendation, of 2%. For my sorry old abused palate; when I am wanting a berry forward biscuit, I use 2%. When I want the cookie base to shine through a bit more, I drop the FF to 1.5%. I tried 1% once, and it got lost in the background, ending up kind of a muddled mess.

As always: YMMV. :D

But ELR is the recipe calculator that I am talking about. You input your recipes and it calculates drops, ml, grams needed as per the % and volume of bottle you input. so I am not sure what you mean?

    :)
    I did say for giggles...............

Recently added to ELR when you add a flavor to a recipe it will auto fill the recommend percentage. When I added Forest Fruit FA it autofilled @ 3%. That being said, when I over do FF I tend to get a floral note I don’t like. So @Heartsdelight I would start lower, let steep 3 days and see what you think. Easier to add than take out, lol.
Thanks for the warning. LOL. I have been so busy inputting flavors that I had not gotten to the making recipes yet. This may be a helpful feature or a hindrance and just more stuff to pay attention to.

I had a really bad experience years ago when trying to mix with weights and am just doing this to assure myself that both will measure the same volumes and taste the same as my recipes mixed with syringes, but marking bottles I have read some do it to show how much premade and or vg/pg to add. And then I guess I could compare my findings to those that a calculator generates as a simple test of the calculators results to ensure all is the same or at least within a few hundreds of a gram variance. There is a method to my madness.....lol

    Morning all,

I do as well but not very often anymore. At first I read everything I could find on there and even spoke to Wayne on occasion. I think I learned quite a bit. If I had time I would be on there more often.

I do. A superb mixing resource IMO. Like all recipe sites though, it suffers from "subjectiveitis". You come across a recipe that looks good on paper, has a nice aroma when mixed, but when you vape, it just doesn't hit the spot. Then you come across the absolute gems that totally blow you away.

I'd give my right arm for a recipe listing that 100% matched my pallet. Sadly, the only way this will happen is with much self-experimentation and time :(. And I'm impatient.

Currently dripping some lovely New York Cheesecake (can't remember where from, I'll have to look it up) . It's taken a good few months to mature, but it is delightful.

Same here, until I gave it a really long steep (just in a 30ml airtight bottle, no heating etc.) for about 3 months IIRC. It transformed from a fairly bland juice into something pretty decent.

Got my BCF order in & WF SC Flapper Pie smells so so so good! Finger taste test = awesome!

I hadn't heard of that one before. Do you have a recipe to use it in or are you going to try it solo?

Yes I’m using it in this.

I subbed on Chefs Flavours on FB & the creator Nick Evans posted & I love Lemon everything.

I believe you will be able to turn that feature off somehow.
