I started using some of the pecan shortbread recipe that was posted on this thread and am really liking it.

I like it, too! At first I found it too sweet, but maybe it needed to steep a little longer. I may still play with percentages a bit.

Good morning mixers! On the agenda today: Knitting group, a walk, and a stop at the grocery store, due to the winter storm coming up. Two days of snow. :nah: It's supposed to start as snow, turn to rain, and then back to snow. But I live on top of a ridge, so I'm not counting on the turning to rain part.

Yesterday, I put up all my Christmas lights. Not too many, and they are all solar. I have a potted alberta spruce that I put up outside my sliding patio door, with solar lights and plastic ornaments. My solution to Christmas trees and cats!

How much snow are you expected. Our prediction is up to 14 inches now.I really dread it.

I think it's supposed to be 3" and 3". But if it doesn't turn to rain, IDK. I thought you might be in that 14" zone. I hope you have someone to plow or snow blow for you? And I guess it's time to have my snow tires put on.

On the positive side, snow makes me get all nesty. For some reason if there is a storm coming, I feel compelled to have everything all cleaned and all the laundry done!

Edited to add: Of course, I have a whole boatload of packages due to arrive Monday. Our post office apparently does not believe in neither rain, nor snow, etc. If the weather is bad, they don't deliver. :(

Today is finishing the Christmas tree as I didn’t have the energy yesterday to do much except bring it and all the ornament boxes up from the basement. Then watching the Alabama/Auburn football game. Cleaning and laundry. I need to rewick and make some juice too. I’m thinking fluffy white cake. Is there a recipe with that in it? Or is it a standalone? I’m gonna go google it.

I shovel. And it's a long driveway. I call it free crossfit. If it's really horrible I pay a neighbor to plow, but I avoid that whenever possible because he always messes up my lawn. I use a snow sleigh shovel so it's really not too bad and no lifting.

I have Fluffy White Cake but haven’t been brave enough to try it yet.

Still quite a workout if the snow is heavy.

Yes, it sure is! I try to go out multiple times so it doesn't get too deep. I don't know how many years I'll still be able to do it, but I hope for a while yet. The sleigh shovel makes it much easier. My 80 year old mother uses one, and can clear up to about 3" of snow on their driveway with it. Anything more than that and the snow removal service comes.

When I was home I kept the high part of the deck cleaned off. After that, it had a roof til it got to the low part. That 15 feet that had to be shoveled got a bit rough as I got older cause it all had to be thrown over the deck rails. Glad I don't have to do that anymore.
