@Redbird11, I soak coils in Alcohol. Whether it be simple wire or complex wire, just to help remove dirt and oils.

Ethanol or Isopropyl Alcohol work fine.

Just thinking you're getting funkyness because the coil may be dirty?

Other than that it may be the juice or liquid you're using. It usually is an issue with dark and or sweet liquids.

For example, I've been experimenting with Sucralose as a sweetener with my DIY.

At 1% Sucralose, my coil and wicking was turning black within 24 hours. It was that bad and I've heard of upto 5% being mentioned around. But at 1% it's really sweet, 5% would just be disgusting.

I’ve been outside working the last 4-5 hours. We got all the bushes trimmed and new mulch put down. I also mowed and trimmed some off of our giant maple tree.
Last year I dug up 17 box woods that were too big and about 12 junipers in the front of my house. I need to get two viburnum trees removed soon. I was so tired of trimming them twice a year. So I’m replacing everything this spring with plants that require no maintenance and that do not grow big. I will never trim another plant in my life. No more Edward scissor hands. It was a ton of work but I haven’t missed them. I’m trying to get to a low maintenance yard as possible.

Has anyone tried Vapetasia killer Kustard?
I found it to be delicious and one of the handful of commercial liquids I would buy. A bit of it in zero nic is stocked in the fridge for the occasional fling. I cut it by a third with PG and nic nowadays as my flavoring preferences are lighter. Lazy mixer heaven lol.

I expect somebody here has already come up with a good recipe to match it!

Thanks for the input, Mordacai. In regards to the eliquid, the juice I have been using is a very light colored recipe with no sweetner added.

As far as removing dirt and oils, I have just been pulsing them a bit once I install them on the deck. It's just seems weird to me, because I had been using some prebuilt coils that came packaged with some of my RTAs. They worked great and I had no issues with taste or burning flavor. But ever since I starting trying these new ones, that is when these problems started. Here they are if anyone is familiar with them:
$4.24 XFKM Kanthal A1 Pre-Coiled Wire (200-Pack) - 28 AWG / 0.32mm dia. / 1.3ohm at FastTech - Free Shipping
and
$3.77 E-XY 316L Stainless Steel Pre-coiled Coil (100-Pack) - 28 AWG / 0.32mm dia. / 1.3ohm at FastTech - Free Shipping

Ever since I starting using these in my Dvarw MTL Rtas, I can only go a day or so without it tasting "off". Before, I was able to go a whole week before even having to worry about changing out the wick.

I had an acquaintance at work that loved that stuff. I think that was pretty much his go-to ejuice. I never tried it myself, just because I have never had too much luck in liking custard eliquid. But he raved about it. Also, he really liked one of their fruit custards too, I think it was a strawberry or raspberry custard.

So far, 1 day down with another 3-4 Days straight of rain, "King High" Tides, & Street flooding . . . YEA - Pretty much a "BLAH" Day . . .

.
Rain here as well today. But we actually needed the rain in the area, so I'm not too upset about it. It just means I'm going to get a bit wet on my run. And it probably cancels my plan for grilling out tonight.

That's unusual @Redbird11, with simple coils like those and relatively clean liquid you shouldn't be having any issues really.

But I think that you may be right, the coils may be causing issues
That is the only real thing I can think of. I use the same eliquid and wicking style as before. And only vaping between 10-12 watts as usual. The only recent change I have made is the coils themselves. What is really odd is that someone else on the forums uses these exact same SS coils, and she says she never has had an off taste.

I’ve always wanted to try it. I’ll think I’ll get some. I just hope it’s not one of those custards that makes me nauseous.

    That's very weird.

    Somewhere between here and there

Ours aren’t bad to maintain. We have evergreen bushes on the front we usually trim once a year and a burning bush. On the side I think they are called barberry bushes. They require almost no maintenance. I had mentioned to my wife before about taking out the mulch and putting in stone but she likes mulch so we have to redo that once a year. My main problem is the maple and pear trees in the front that got bigger than I thought they ever would. I trim what I can with a pole saw but can’t reach high enough. When I can afford it I’m going to have to pay someone to come and trim them.

I have six trees in back and those two viburnums in front. The dogwood is dead and it’s coming down after Christmas and I’ll get them to remove the viburnums as well. I usually use pine straw for mulch but next spring I’m thinking about using wood mulch or whatever you call it in front. I want no to low maintenance. Tired of spending my time with stuff like that. I’m tempted to get all the trees cut. Today my son and I are picking up sticks and trimming low hanging limbs before I cut the grass. Trees cause a lot more work for me.
