YEEESSSS! I love that show.
I've been at my current job for 25 years. I am the longest term employee in our department. I ALWAYS worked the holidays and let everyone else take their vacation. Somebody has to man the place at all times. Well I've changed. I put my time in for Christmas in early September. Just 3 days to give me 11 days straight off with weekends and holidays. All the bosses do it. So I get an email from my immediate boss that they will let everyone take off (well I'm glad nobody ELSE has to suffer through years of working like me) with a note "but we were wondering if you would mind taking a short call or creating a short report during those times if it is urgent". WTH? I am salaried, I don't get overtime. Just burns me up that they are not making someone else stay like I did all those years. I let it go...I'm over this job. My retirement time is in and they will suffer greatly when I do decide to leave. So it keeps me going. I am at the TOP of the "term" totem pole and they still squeeze the last drop of life out of me. We have a new guy in the department...I personally feel HE should be the one staying. JMO Although they KNOW that I am the only one that KNOWS how to do this stuff and can answer questions. I've paid my dues with 25 loooong years of blood sweat and tears...time for someone else to do it.Work: Mostly GOOD this week is going to try and kill me.
Let me ask something because I think my boss is not nice, and I also think the company practice is EVIL.
So, I was told as the "low man on the totem pole" that *I* had to cover the psych unit on the weekend if it ever came up and it didn't that MUCH and I was like, um we did not do totem poles we were an Indian Reservation we saved our totem poles to carve out of cactus and we ALL took turns because that is fair. I was assured it would NEVER happen and like hardly ever at all.
I am ALSO used to, if I work overtime, taking time off so I do not die of fatigue. I mean.. SO then the "holiday list" came around and we all had to sign up. So like, we did and there is "not a day off later for you" it's time and a half which... sucks.
SO THEN this whole wack job ER thing came up when all of a sudden social workers had to work their regular day, SIGN UP to work like 4:30 til midnight or whatever, then return to work at seven after about 4 hours sleep. Um. SO, PROACTIVELY I asked my supervisor if (it was NOT mandatory at that point but I could see it GO ON for 6 months which it will.) "Do I have to do this, is it mandatory, I CANNOT WORK 3 NORMAL SHIFTS OF WORK WITH 4 HOURS OF SLEEP IN BETWEEN THAT WOULD BE CATSTROPHIC FOR ME." I was like, "Tell me now, so I can get ready. I will take a weekend shift but only if you PROMISE that means as the "low man on the totem pole" I am not SHOVED a shift you can't fill. He was all like ,"Oh god, no we know you can't don't worry about it."
So guess what I am DOING tomorrow with a DAY's NOTICE. YUP.
I am so ...... off, I am going to talk to my doctor I AM ADA and I will not even be able to drive me TO or FROM work the next two days that is how dangerous it is for me.
I told my boss he had engaged in "informal ADA talk" which like, he is TOO NEW AND DUMB a supervisor to even know what that means. HE also said he meant don't worry about "OCTOBER" even though I was already saying, "I KNOW WINTER WILL COME" and he knew DARN well I was asking about the future AND I felt bad NOT helping but there were times I COULD NOT. He knew as well as I did. I was just like,, "I am not invoking my ADA rights TODAY because it would be unfair to EVERYONE and cause chaos but I want you to know, personally, that I will no longer be doing it."
So, pretty much I am GOING to invoke my ADA RIGHTS TO ONLY EVER EVER EVER work scheduled days including holidays. I am going to REVOKE my "low man on the totem pole" weekends at this job They are chronically understaffed and it is not MY problem.
When I was younger. When I COULD. I CAME IN AS ADA. THEY KNEW IT.
So, pretty much, I got rather royally annoyed and my boss could tell and I was like "Dude I asked if this would EVER be mandatory and told you I couldn't I WOULD never have let this day come.
So I'm trying to be chill about it but I am not working a SINGLE DAY OF OVERNIGHTS of shifts that do not allow my brain to repair itself or of OVERWORK generally because frankly.......
I am new. GUESS WHO IS MOST STRESSED? ME. I am learning all the new stuff, moving every five minutes, trying to make things work I mean WHO came up with this "haze the new person by trying to kill them" nonsnese which I HAVE NEVER RUN INTO BEFORE.
So, I would mention the INSANITY of having 100 social workers and the two people picking up slack one is the newest and has a seizure dx (it's the closest I can come with med, sx, and needs I no longer disclose my BP dx EVER) and coudl DIE and the second newest one is in PA and like, has a metal rod in her back and can't sit for new periods and this could happen again NEXT WEEK when 65 (apparently 5 do all the extra work kinda) OTHER OLDER SW get to go home and frankly , EAT FATTENING food and yell at their kids.
So no more overtime for this chicka but I gotta admit I am a bit nervous, it's been a long time I"ve worked a schedule like that and it starts TOMORROW. I don't even know when and how I get DINNER.
But, whatevr. One time.
They are not going to win though I refuse to work ANY MOMENT more than I have to I am long past that because your OWN job is too much etc. SO NO.
I am stressed, but I assume it is transient.

I would bring up the hazing but I know what that would get .I did tell my supervisor I don't know why he did not get off his .... and hand EVERY NON workign social worker a number and say, "You are next, so get ready."

Some adblockers allow you to allow (whitelist) sites you need to.since some sites I go to won't let you if you use ad blockers so I don't use them.
I put in a dispute with PayPal for my (Grus mod) Everzon order. I tried emailing and messaging via chat and they just simply ignored every attempt at communication about the order. They had no issue getting back to me via chat if I asked about something on their site though.
I should have known better. I ordered 5 extra squonk bottles for the Smoant Battlestar and it took them over 3 weeks to finally ship them out. I figured that was something they had to ship from China, so I gave them the benefit of doubt even though it shipped from Illinois. Even when they created the shipping label two weeks after I ordered, the spare bottles did not leave their facility till 8 days later.
So now those funds will be locked in limbo for 2 to 3 weeks now. Everzon really does suck.
I did reorder the Grus from another Vendor last night and just got tracking info this morning.

These popup ads are making ECF an inhospitable place to be. The ad blockers make my internet experience worse since some sites I go to won't let you if you use ad blockers so I don't use them.
There is a girl I work with that sued and won a few years ago. She also asked off and always took off, when I'm working. So I think they'd rather piss me off and risk me quitting than her suing them. Just my take. And I hate to say it but it's true (and proven by the successful lawsuit) there is huge gender discrimination. They try to sweep it under the rug but it's there. None of the guys work holidays. Just sayin. If she wasn't there I'd probably be paid more money. They can't give to me without her making a stink. It's a no win situation for me. I told them flat out one day you shouldn't be so afraid of HER....you should fear ME.Sometimes you have to fight janky with janky. Put in for two weeks vacation then quit the day you return.
I once gave two weeks notice at a job, put my famous split pea soup recipe that no one has ever heard of on the back, with the message at the bottom-- I'm tired of walking in Terry's office and catching him on porn sites. They told me to leave immediately but said they would pay me for the two weeks. Terry was fired a month later.

Yesterday I burned the wicks on 2 KFL's. Happens once in a while when you overfill them. Vapor locks? They dried out and singed the wicks. I had just rewicked them too.

So she sued them and still works there? That seems odd to me. Also, I'm wondering how she would know if they gave you a pay increase?
