I think the tree was/is very art deco @DLKnives . Reminds me of our Christmas cactus. The kid had trees, he then was sad about the trees dying so we got a "live" one and that sucker (it wasn't even BIG) was almost impossible to like, get in the house it weighted 3 tons. Me and my husband were barely up to it. Then the poor husband had to dig in the snowy ground.
It died anyway.
When we got to Tucson the kid became obsessed with cacti and Saguaro in particular. So we got (you cannot really buy mini Saguaro they grow like an inch a year and cost an arm and a leg) a vaguely Saguaro shaped miniature cactus and at Christmas we would wrap it in tinsel. It lasted like 8 years. It was AWESOME.
I know where our decorations are, we are the proud owners of BOTH family "historical" ornaments. I would like to torch them but maybe one day we will have a tree again. Snort. Unlikely.
