I thought I saw someone say they liked a lemon flavor, using only one liquid. Was I dreaming or did that happen and what was the brand and exact flavor? Thanks.
Also, used to LOVE Lichee years ago. Can't even remember what company. Anyone know a good lichee flavor, too.
Darn, I told Frannie I just wanted a flavor or 2 to switch around. Now, you guys make so many sound good, but still want to stay as close to 1 flavor added to PG/VG with no nic. :)

With an sft you're testing only a single flavoring. With Bill's 100 drop taste test...you're making a miniature version of a new recipe...using the flavorings, plain PG, plain VG, and nic base shown in the recipe. Each 1% of any/all ingredients in the recipe = 1 drop that you use in the taste test. You "tweak" that miniature amount to your own taste, remembering that each additional drop of anything added to it...means a +1% change in that ingredient in the original recipe. You keep notes on what you've changed as you go, so when you're finished...it results in an adjusted recipe to suit your tastes. Making any full size version of that recipe then, will mean it will be identical in taste to the miniature one.

Thanks, I have done Bill's method but it doesn't really seem different to me. I do the same tweaking with a 10ml sft. I adjust and keep notes on the sft until I get something I like.

I don't do sfts, yet have never had that thought nor said the above. Many other people don't do them either and still come up with recipes they like. Doing Bill's 100 drop taste test is what "works" for me, when I try a new recipe and/or flavorings. It only takes me minutes to do and leads me to a successful recipe for my particular tastes.

That's 1 of the great things about DIY, IMO. Everyone can reach the same goal, but not have to use to same methods to get there. :)

    That's the truth.

I've always done it the same way. I order a flavor cuz I like the sound of it, think about it a bit, then write down a recipe and mix it. Maybe adjust it a bit. That method has a fairly low success rate but I get enough good mixes for my needs. New ones come along and old ones drop out.

The analytical part of my brain tells me there are probably more efficient methods, but it works for me. I'm only doing it for fun anyway.

Plain lemon will always need something IMO. You might like Capella Lemon Meringue Pie though. Also IMO it needs a little something more but if you are heck bent on simple and one flavor type things that is a good one

I used that for a long time but realized that all my bottles didn’t have the same dropper size so I wasn’t really getting accurate results until I made sure everything was in the same kind of bottle.

As far as sft go, I do very few any more. Early on I would mix a sft of every flavor I bought which sometimes was 20-30 at a time. I would end up not trying half of them and wasting all that nic. I still do a couple here and there. Some flavors like ssa blueberry aren’t that good as a sft but really pop in a recipe so doing a sft on that one was a waste of time. A lot of times I’ll do a two flavor test if I need to find out what one tastes like. Flavors can change a lot when mixed with others. At least that’s my opinion. Take it for what it’s worth. That and $8 will get you a coffee at Starbucks.

I never got into using Bill’s method. To each his/her own.

My gd Megan has found an apartment for herself and baby Dallas. It is close to family and she loves it. They will move in June 6th.

That’s great news! I’m looking forward to finishing the lease on my youngest daughters apartment and getting a short break from paying rent. She’s waiting to hear if she got into the nursing program at the new school and at this point don’t know if she’s going to get her own apartment or share with the boyfriend. Either way, I can’t wait until she finishes school.

I bet. Meg is older and quite responsible at 23. She also has a great job.
