That's the Exocet method. It is the reason you are experiencing burnt hits after only a few hits. Or muted flavor.

Your wick is not keeping up in order to maintain sufficient juice flow to your coil. Exocet wicking is very finicky if it isn't 'just right'.

I stopped using Exocet wicking. It doesn't deliver any better flavor versus bunny ear. Rob Fisher came up with the Exocet method and that works well for him. :)

If you think about the Exocet method, specifically with the tails being installed through the juice channels, the channels become the choke-off point for proper juice flow to the coil.

Switch to Bunny Ear wicking. You will notice an immediate improvement and zero burnt hits. Juice flow is then as it was 'designed' to be by the maker of the Dvarw.

The maker of the Dvarw recommends and uses bunny ear. Nearly every user in the Dvarw Facebook group uses the bunny ear method.

Mark Todd shows how to do it in his video. I have the video cued up to play where he shows how to wick a Dvarw. It is, by far, the easiest and much quicker.

I'll betcha dinner that solves your problem! :D
This is very interesting. I've only used the Exocet method to wick my Dvarws, and I've been very frustrated by how quickly the wicks fail. I've been blaming it on my relative inexperience with rayon, but, from what you've said, I'm guessing it's the wicking method that failed me.

I wish I'd read your post before I rewicked the FL this morning--after having rewicked it yesterday, a mere five days after rewicking it last.

I went downstairs anyway to workout so looked and they are a .5 resistance. I think there are about 150 and there are a couple toptanks in with them that I think are clones. Too bad they won’t work for you. I think they are lonely down there.
Thanks anyway, I appreciate the effort. :)

We have a sunny 62. I was going to put on something warm and go out for awhile with my vape. Til I looked out and saw snow on the deck. Too lazy to put boots on. Even with boots the glassy looking snow in front of the door doesn’t look inviting.

Give it a try. I would not be surprised if Exocet was the reason. All my fingers and toes will remain crossed waiting to hear your results! :)

I'm still trying to figure out why you are experiencing this with your KFL19's. IIRC you have the same rayon I do (Tidi balls large 969162). Same as Rossum has. I haven't been able to reproduce your experience despite trying. Argh!

From reading the rayon thread I am confident you are wicking it properly and using approximately 1/3 more rayon for a wick versus what you would with cotton.

Wire type should not matter. Just no. The Rayonatti are using every wire known with rayon.

This is gonna sound really dumb, and it might be, but for thoroughness, and process of elimination, have you tried another wire material for your coils.

I mean, at this point it's worth a try. I think.

I recoiled three attys yesterday and almost switched to SS just to see if that made a difference, but ambition abandoned me and I stuck with kanthal. Shame on me, eh?

If history is anything to go by, I'll be needing to rewick both of the Dvarws I have going within the week, so those results should be forthcoming soon.

By the way, I much prefer the Dvarw v2 to the FL. It's less fussy.

I would give SS a try. IMO it delivers a cleaner vape and better flavor versus other wire types. It's all I use.

I have a few OG Dvarw's. The chimney design is better IMHO on the OG. It's not keyed or PEEK like the FL's are. Having said that, my OG's are in storage. I'm currently running FL's (one MTL and one DL). I prefer all the other design improvements of the FL's.

I started with the bunny ear technique with my Dvarw's. Then went to Vapdivrr's technique but it was time consuming. Went back to the bunny ear technique and was perfectly happy. Got caught up in the Exocet rage. Gave that up and went back to the bunny ear method.

I've come full circle and am not switching again. Bunny ear is simple and just works every single time.

I’m sold on the bunny ears.

I resent having to line up the arrow with the insulator, and I find it easier to put the v2 back together.
I may have asked you this before. Don't remember. Have you tried your Tripod RTA yet?

ETA: I will probably ask again in another 6 months. :D

You have, several times. The answer is yes. It kept shorting on me, so I retired it till I felt like figuring out why. When it did work, though, I did not enjoy having to line things up to take the deck off or to fill it. Those little dots are hard to see.

You know what atty I like? The Precisio, beloved of Anna. Easiest to fill of anything I own.

I will commit this information to the Zazie file in my noggin'. :D
