Nothing in the guess for at least a week. July and August are usually our driest and hottest months, but this has been drier, although mostly not hotter.

At least we're not getting this!

    Uh, too hot for cacti???
WEll, I'm glad you're mostly not hotter. Quite an article on the Cacti. :(

How is your daughter doing now, rose?
Still in pain, I take her back to the surgeon today for a check up.

A little rant or observation about the PO. I understand about passing your house to get to a hub. All my packages from the west coast pass me in middle TN and go to Nashville which is an hour east of me, then routes back west to me. But some of the travels make no sense at all. I have a package which came from NJ to Nashville but instead of heading to me, went to Chattanooga which is 3 hours south of me, then back to Nashville. It might head to me tomorrow or it might not. o_O Just clothes for my gd but she is anxiously waiting for them.

I've had pkgs take side trips before. It's irritating.

It really bites that you don';t have more rain coming. Hopefully soon.

It's cool here right now but temp will go to 87 says the weather. We have an 80% chance of t-storms tomorrow. I don't know why they always say t-storms when we usually just get rain.
I can send you some t-storms if you'd like? We weren't supposed to get them yesterday. Oops - there's one, wait there's more, they'll be stopping by 6pm - oops another one! They came in waves. My poor kitty wasn't happy. Shed' come out of hiding, I'd brush her which is what I do to help her settle down, and then we'd get a BOOM and she'd be off hiding again. It was rinse and repeat.

The good news is we didn't lose power and the house has central A/C. We'd be miserable without it, especially for the next couple of days with temps in the 90s and high humidity.

Out of all the t-storms that have been forecasted here I think I've only heard thunder a half dozen times. I woke up to see the lightning just once.

Glad you kept power but I feel so bad for your poor kitty.

You'd be surprised about the number of packages that go through the PO, yet it's not a fully automated process, so there are human errors. The PO needs to update its processes big time, yet given the number of packages that go through it, the error rate is actually pretty low.

So far I've never had a missing pkg.

The USPS gets a bad rap.

I had one recently that was misspent to the wrong local PO. Instead of forwarding it to the right PO, it gets returned to the regional distribution PO to be reprocessed, which adds another delay in processing. I got it 3 days late.

I'm not bashing USPS but it seems they have slipped in the past few years and yet keep increasing rates. I had a Caravela which I waited months on the list, they tried to deliver, said no one was home (I was there watching the whole time). It was then sent to the local distribution center. 4 trips there over a week, they couldn't find the package. I went again to file a missing package report and lo n behold, it was sitting right there on the shelf in front of all the workers but they couldn't see it.

In So GA, mail/packages in my neighborhood were being delivered to the wrong address daily. After a lot of people complained, a friend at the PO said the reason was the carrier had a stroke and was struggling in getting mail to the right addresses. I am glad he remained employed but why on earth would they not give him a less stressful job to do.
