DD had Covid around the time it first came to our area and she had a very mild case. After that she had all the shots and boosters. This time she has a very bad case of Covid. Soooo were the shots and boosters at all effective?

I'm sorry to hear DD has covid. Were the shots and boosters effective? 100% yes, with zero doubts. Science and the medical community has proven that.

From all I've read, the boosters last about 6 months, after that their effectiveness wanes significantly. The science and medical experts say folks should get boosters every six months.

There is a new covid variant making the rounds in Europe and the US. Eris, or EG.5.1, which is a descendant of Omicron. Pfizer and Moderna will need to update their boosters. They are likely already working on updated booster shots.

    Morning, mixers.

Not much change in the temps here, a bit warmer but still ok. Wildfire smoke moving in, though, so I might mask up while watering... (no, not that bad. yet.)

Today's topic of conversation is flavour storage :w00t:
What does everyone use to keep their flavours in? I'm slowly starting to accumulate more and I need something more convenient than a cardboard box:lol:

    Or these ;)

I keep a spreadsheet, case #, side A or B, slot number. So I can sort any way I want. And put that ID info on the flavor bottle as well, makes it easier to put away.

Yes,I know about the new one. Right now I'm just hoping I dont get sick from the hug she gave me. So far so good.
If I have to leave my rooms I'm back to much hand washing. It will pass, just not fast enough.

I've been getting a covid booster every 6 months. Haven't had covid at all. But, I do suspect that eventually everyone will come down with a case of covid at some point. I mean, ya know, covid is here to stay. The virus has not been eradicated.

The science has very clearly demonstrated that if someone has had a recent booster shot, and contracts covid, the booster will lessen the effects of covid, making it a more mild case, versus the risk of a more severe case, and symptoms, for those who still refuse the vaccine.

FWIW......... covid cases, hospitalizations and deaths are once again climbing steadily in the US and the World.

That's a question that I have been asking myself also.

I haven't had Covid at all either. I am aware that it's spreading again

I'll be due for another covid booster around the time the new flu shot is out towards the end of August beginning of September.

And.... I will also get the new RSV vaccine. RSV is of major concern for those over the age of 60.

The John Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health says the new flu shots should be ready soon. Last year's flu season started pretty early.

"RSV is a common pathogen that's seen in very young children. It also causes a lot of severe disease in individuals over the age of 60. Last year, we had a really large RSV outbreak that spanned the young and very old, and we didn't have any kind of treatments or vaccines for it. This year, we have an FDA-approved vaccine for RSV for people over the age of 60. The clinical trials look great in terms of its efficacy, and that will be rolling out this fall."

I'm probably jinxing myself, but I've never had covid and stopped getting a booster a year ago. I'm not as onboard with this shot as I used to be. Plenty of people who've been getting boosters have been hospitalized and some have died. And the shot is not without risks. The last thing I need right now is a clot in the leg that I just had fixed.
