I dunno much about sirius except I bought the lifetime subscription for my bmw back in '07 for $500 and haven't been bothered since. I think I clocked more time with the mp3 player than radio, and with the addition of podcasts - mp3 players can give you that talk-radio experience without the you know what. I think vapetv has one, too. But I haven't checked it out.

I like to listen to this show Episode archive | The Tech Guy makes me feel geeky but keep in mind, I also have issues of Consumer Reports in the bathroom with my other reading material. So I'm more of a consumer than creator, or a poweruser instead of a hacker.

No worries ocie, I knew you were just yanking my chain. Guess I need to get better about using the smileys too. Hell, a lot of people think I need 'em IRL too.

What we really need is a sarcasm font

I think I need to make it smaller

Am I the only one that's starting to think that bacon, smileys, tacos and Smoke On The Water may all be pretty effective alternatives to smoking, while not requiring the winding of coils?

One reason I think this may be true is the recent behavior by the Chinese, possibly anticipating bacon's success as a smoking alternative: Pol: US Risks Losing Pork Industry to China

With the FDA threats to ecigs and the Chinese taking our pork, we need to educate ourselves now should we need to use another smoking alternative. Here's a helpful lesson!

I had Siruis (sp?) for 6 months free when I bought my truck, but there was no way I would pay that price to continue. I also read they are one of the worst companies for continuing to charge your credit card after you cancel. What still strikes me as weird is that while it played just fine during the 6 months, to continue using the service you have to get another device. Not one sales rep I talked to could clearly explain why it worked one day, but wouldn't work the next. They also wouldn't let me just subscribe to the 4 channels I liked while offering al la carte packages for others. It's been a year and they are still sending me mail.
Yes I agree, and when your traveling through an area with a lot of trees you lose your signal......HMMMM isn't that one of the reasons you get XM, to maintain your channel, no matter where your at ?

Well, considering I have 100s of CDs and put less than 5,000 miles on my truck in the last 18 months, it's hard to justify any expense like that. I'd rather get a ProVari... it kept me off of analogs.

Well, they COULD punch up the signal, but then you'd get cooked as you walked down the street. So you do have a few choices here. Live with it, cut down the trees that have the audacity to block satellite signals, or have the companies tweak the power so it will punch through anything and everything (but you get fried in the process).

Well, I guess I won't be trying any of those suggestions, I would't want to get fried, or anything..........

Depends on how you define "a lot". I drive big rigs and tend to spend a lot of time in the western states when I'm on the road. In these areas where radio signals are few and far between, satellite radio is a god send. This was the driving reason behind developing the technology. If you tend to spend most of your time in the cities and surrounding burbs, satellite radio wasn't made for you.

they really don't.....and we are an endangered species. HowStuffWorks "Redhead Extinction"

how sad :(

I remember reading about the MC1R gene while trying to figure out why they weren't able to numb me up for a root canal. Feeling the whole thing…
