I test/preheat nearly all of my coils with Neat/unflavored,, why waste good juice if I am not sure about the wick lolSounds like about what I do, kross, when I rebuild or even just dry burn and rewick. Except I often haven't decided what flaor is going to go in it....
So I keep a bottle of unflavored, at my ususal nic and ratio, and saturate with that. Once it's actually filled, I can tell it's wicking well when the flavor comes in, and I'll start stepping up the power then.
I think its about 40 ft,,,,,,,,,,rule of thumb for ballparking your needs: 1 inch =1 week,,,,,,,a foot =1 year per atty set up.Hi guys, do you know how many meters of rayon does the 3lbs sallys box has in it?![]()
It may be placebo but I tried Rayon (Cellucotton) a few times on my Kayfuns, but there is something about the taste I don't like. It's probably "too pure", for a lack of words. It seems to me that organic cotton gives a smoother vape. (I just came up with a crazy comparison: In the same way as I'd say coffee tastes "better" with using an actual paper coffee filter as opposed to using a re-useable gold/mesh filter). But may be entirely subjective and maybe I am just fantasizing.

There might be an inch or two after it's mounted and trimmed, but a good 6 inches is required to get the perfect fit in the coil. All depending on the build, the atty and how much primping and picking you do at the first.I think its about 40 ft,,,,,,,,,,rule of thumb for ballparking your needs: 1 inch =1 week,,,,,,,a foot =1 year per atty set up.
edit,, I tossed my box and put my rayon in plastic bin,,,it didn't weigh very much,, so just in case,, if you have the big box,, its 500ft=152.4 meters
wow,, I use about 1.5 in in my avocado & SXK,, I use 1" on everything else. and I roll after flattening out my rayon. I keep my 'in use' rayon in a M&M candy tube,, I pull out what I need and recap/replace into my build box. .. I cant imagine using 6 inches...but its definitely cheap enough to use all you want/need.There might be an inch or two after it's mounted and trimmed, but a good 6 inches is required to get the perfect fit in the coil. It's a ton man, 900 ft in 3lb... 500 ft is a ton.
Wow are you sure? Is it 900ft? Thats 274meters! I said to my cousin in US to order and send me a 3lbs box here in Greece 'cause i bought 1m from a local store and this thing is awesome. What an amazing wick, right?
1meter for 1 euro in EU. Damn they are making some serious money from rayon across europe. Jesus!
Thank you for the info Jeremy
I can attest to that lol! My wick on the KF V5 picture a few posts back worked great for 4 ml of juice still white/translucent (KU) but after 8 ml one side of the wick was fine & the other side had some darkening. I took a pick & nudged the rayon at the edge of the coil sure enough not enough density (it showed a space at the edge of the coil) but the other side with the nice looking wick had only a tiny space. So back to the drawing board, it looked fine, the density on both side looked even as pictured but alas it was not. I rewicked this morning, will check later to see how it's doing.Hi Flex thanks for stopping by.
There is quite a difference with Rayon. The vapor is different, you get more actual fine juice droplets in the vapor. I always likened it to drinking your juice... Doesn't get much purer than that... Usually if you use rayon for an extended time, like a week or more... Going back to cotton will no longer be that good. Some people like the taste with cotton or are more used to it.
Density is important in getting the most out of rayon. If the wick is too tight it will produce a muted flavor. If it's too loose it will lean to dry hit. If it's too tight you will taste the muting for longer than a little while. The second most important is thinning the tails. You can't leave a full tail like cotton or it Will Not work right. A huge benefit of using Rayon is the longevity of the wick and reduction in gunking. The benefits are always there if you decide to try it again.
I feel lucky that I hadn't been rebuilding for very long when I found rayon. I didn't have long standing habits from cotton wicking to unlearn.
Anyone notice the 3lb stuff is thicker or am I going crazy? With my 500ft box I could split it down the middle and get the perfect amount for 2 3mm ID coils but since I bought the 3lb box I can no longer do that. Now with the 3lb stuff I can no longer split it in half and fit it in 2 3mm ID coils. I have to split it and then pull off some extra for each piece or its way too thick
