And boiling does seem to mat it up a lot. :(

Well I am going to suggest something cut about a one inch piece off the roll and chew it like gum. See if you still taste some weird taste that way.

No I am not kidding. I did that last night just to see if I was missing what some have reported. I tasted nothing at all. Doesn't mean it ain't there but not to my taste buds.

Seriously give it a try. I would say if you taste something weird you may have gotten a box that is been sitting around a warehouse for longer than it should.

About two weeks now. I didn't at first notice any wow flavor or nic effect. Just filled an Aspire Nova BDC with a recoil I did with CC, with butter rum. Much more intense flavor but not exactly butter or rum. Then the nic hit me from chain vaping. Then the discussion started with the wifey and we both have had more times of "whoa I must be vaping too much" with CC than anything before. Good thing I DIY most of our juice.

How can a pea size chunk of rayon do this?

I didn't boil cotton, don't boil this. Both give me a bit of tshirt taste for 3 or so puffs. I'm 60+ and smoked 40+ years. My buds may not be as good as you young'uns buds. I don't boil any of my hardware either. Much ado about nothing.

Well Paul, I don't know how the CC does it but it sure does it.

The only thing that makes sense to me is something Jeremy said about a thinner and more robust amount of vapor. Just my opinion but the smaller the mist particles are the easier and faster for the body to absorb it. Particle size is something I read someplace as the reason why smoke delivers nic faster and more efficiently than vapor (e-cigs).

I noticed today my dripper was just not letting the menthol through in this peach menthol I vape, rewicked and bam....in your face menthol again.

I had ran about 8ml through it before the flavor tapered off, I think boiling the wick would degrade the flavor performance of rayon.

I haven't tried it boiled but I assume boiling it would be similar to running a lot of juice through it.

Keep in mind this is in a dripper running about 35 watts, I haven't had this issue on a Kayfun.

Maybe you don't have to boil it. Maybe you just have to rinse it over the kitchen sink with the sprayer, flat, maybe on one of these:

splatter guard for frying, with mesh screen

Lucky me, I don't have to rinse. I guess my taste buds aren't that sensitive, cuz all I get is Coconut Cream Pie.

I can barely remember to refill my Evods. Can you imagine what it would be like for me dripping?

Just did it again, just now. Hey, what's wrong with this thing? Empty.

Chewed a piece. Wouldn't say that it had a "flavor" - more of a bit of bitter aftertaste. The kind of thing that has my mouth pucker a bit and keeps the salivary glands working even after I spit it out. Not really a "yuck" thing, but definitely a residual impact.

For comparison, I chewed an unboiled organic cotton ball, and got the same sort of thing (though the cotton might have had a bit more "flavor").

Both reminded me of being at the dentist, lol...

I tried rinsing the rayon instead of boiling, to try to keep the fibers intact. When it dries, I'll give it a shot. If it doesn't work, I'm afraid it's back to cotton for me, which is a shame. :?:

On another note, I noticed no difference in nicotine between the cotton and rayon. As a matter of fact, once the rayon was "broken in", I didn't notice much difference in flavor or vapor between the two. The performance of the rayon, though, was superior when it came to chain vaping with no dry hits, and for switching flavors. I used to rewick between flavors, but I found that was unnecessary with the rayon.

Believe me I understand your attitude about drippers.

I have one and I only use it to sample or try a new coil wick setup... hint, hint, hint.

Actually I bought my dripper on an impulse and it has been sitting on the shelf till Jeremy started all this Rayon stuff. I only pulled it out to give the rayon a try. As soon as I figured out how to rayon wick my other tanks it is pretty much back on the shelf.

You have me laughing djironic.

I waited and waited for your reply and figured you thought my suggestion was absolutely insane.

I haven't tried the "real cotton" chewing gum but I will a little later and let you know how it compares.

For myself I thought the rayon was much tastier than the stuff the Dentist uses. ;)

ultimately the pharmy balls will most likely be the cleanest route. No need to boil those. I'm still waiting for reports from those that placed orders with the two different suppliers mentioned in this thread. I'm currently using Sally's, but that just because I could shoot up the road and get it.

I ordered from both. Delasco arrived. Others haven't. Once you finally get them unrolled (took me 3 attempts to unroll relatively cleanly), it was really good to work with. Taste quality is pretty similar. I can't even remember which device I put it in to be completely honest.

That said, I think it is actually easier to wick the Delasco once you finally get it unrolled. Not sure why, but may be due to the consistency being slightly more uniform. That benefit is a bit neutralized by the difficulty in unrolling the ball that I experienced. Not as easy as cotton to unroll.

A dripper is really a great way to figure out rayon density. It takes out the tank wicking factor. It's much easier to drip with rayon because you can put a lot more juice in and it gives fair warning before a dry hit.

The trick to fix your issue is to put the coil back on the Allen wrench or drill bit or whatever you wrapped around. The tool inside the coil will prevent you from distorting the coil when you tighten the legs on the posts.
