Jeremy, sorry, but I gotta correct one thing -- Oxygen is NOT flammable, it is an oxidizer which will enhance the flammability of another substance and will cause much larger flames if something is already aflame, but a spark in pure oxygen will not cause fire.

Stupid Haz Mat training had to come out. Class 2.2 in the IATA classification. Non flammable gas.

That is the correct term, I generically posted flammable due to I was driving, and couldn't think of it in the short time I posted it.

I frequently go to peoples houses that are on oxygen and they have multiple signs on thier doors and such no smoking no open flames.

Edited the post to read as I probably intended.

*The main point was if you put them together h2o it puts out fire - *so quite the opposite of the two alone. :)

Showing how drastic a chemical change can be.

Pure Oxygen increases flammability

No worries, all is forgiven... just a small difference and common misconception since it is such a powerful oxidizer and leads to very impressive flames if it is paired with anything already burning.

OK, I'm confusing myself. Since I received my 2' of CCr from a kind ECF member about 3 weeks ago, I've been using it exclusively in my Kayfun and Kayfun mini and Fogger V4 and drippers. Excellent results. Except for last night. Had to rewick about 3 day old Kayfun because the vapor suddenly dried out and the taste disappeared. When I removed the chamber I was surprised by the burnt out mess I saw. The wick where it entered the coil was mostly gone and completely black. The coil must have been kept moist just by the wicking action of the shoulders because there really wasn't anything left inside the coil itself. This was a very pedestrian single coil 1.4 ohm 28 or perhaps 30 Kanthal build.

Any idea what I did wrong? Before the sudden drop off it was seemingly working like all the other CCr wicks I've done, much moister vape, better flavor, etc. What made the wick appear to disintegrate? Not enough wick? Too much? Bad voodoo?

What kind of juice? It's still early in the testing. Maybe it degraded with the combo of acid and heat.

Edit: 5 minutes of research turned up this:
The resistance of regenerated cellulose rayon’s to acids is generally less than that of cotton to the same concentrations of the same acids. Therefore , acid treatments must not be too drastic with respect to concentration ,temperature and time .Organic acids can be safely used in 1 to 2 percent concentration without injury to the fiber. Inorganic acids such as hydrochloric & nitric can be used in surprisingly strong concentrations provided the temperatures are not too high and the treatment is brief. Oxalic acid for removal of iron stains is not recommended except at temperatures lower than 150°F.At high temperatures and concentrations all acid will destroy or carbonize regenerated rayon’s. No harmful action will result if applied at .5 to 3 percent solution at room temperature.

Sweet!!!

You did something right! Getting a major nic hit is a sign you did something right.

Just wait till you think its time to rewick and dry burn... You'll have to pinch yourself.. "Am I dreamin?"

For some reson the kangers are really easy. It works best with no overwick. Don't have to worry about it if you have the right amount in the coil. I use a 1/16 no over wick works better than ever no leaks or gurgles.

Ok... so I was skeptical... I mean how could it be better then organic cotton?

So I decided to man up and walk into Sally's today and grab my lifetime supply of Cellucotton / Rayon.

Finished up the juice that was in my KFL+ since I an more in a bottle to compare the difference, I wasn't expect a huge difference. OMG!!! I was shocked!

It took a melon juice that tasted like candy and made it taste like the three melons that it was suppose too.
More.... I mean more vapor.
Zero dry hits, so I could take longer and more pulls.
Flavor and more flavor, how could you improve on organic cotton? But it does.
Airflow... and more airflow. It takes away the harshness and as an added bonus... my KFL+ base stays cooler. Chain vaping and the base doesn't stay hot anymore.
Easier to build. Pull a bunch through the coil... trim and stuff, keep the juice channels clear and you're golden.
Nic buzzed off 6mg? Really?
As others stated, it shouldn't gunk up as fast, keeps the coil cleaner... etc
20pg/80pg blend in a Kayfun... no problem. As others stated.. 100vg... no problem.

It took a juice I was sampling and about ready to throw away because it tasted yet again like a jolly rancher and made it great and something I am now vaping on like a beast.

Completely shocked doesn't completely describe my reaction.

If anybody needs some to try, PM me and we can work something out so you don't have to buy a liftetime supply. I will gladly help further this cause.

Jeremy, all I can say is awesome find. My upcoming 4th of July is going to be more pleasurable because of this.

I now need to go outside and get some fresh air because I am completely buzzed. I hope I can get some of my ADV's in 3mg.

Thanks verb!!!

Bslopinger,

I think you probably lost wicking from the tank for some reason, vapor lock maybe starving the tails. Then the pressure released rejuicing the wick.. It would have had to be run completely dry to burn out. Serious hot spot?

If the juice was at fault I would think the whole wick would have shown it. Not really sure but I don't think that we use acid strong enough in juice, typically.

So many variables since we all use handmade coils. If the juice can crack a tank...

I was also intrigued by the difference in hot acids having an effect on Rayon while cooler acid did not. Guessed maybe why it was just at the coil.

The big question would be if they were experiencing dry hits in the previous day and after noticing the failure but before opening the tank how much was the coil fired. If it sagged and was not properly wicking, firing the coils trying to get it to work could of vaporized off the dry rayon pretty quick.

When that happened to me, it was because I took one hit too many (rayon was already completely dry). Rewicked and all was good again.

Yeah well wait to hear what type of juice. To see if it was acidic. Also interesting how the organic acids break the bonds but inorganic doesn't. I had read that but didn't think out concentrations were high enough.. Well find out in time I guess. :)

And when the rayon drys it doesn't take long to be completely dry, about one more vape after a dry hit its toast. I've actually only burned one out in the beginning because it gives such a fair warning I've learned to pick it up pretty early.

It was easier for me to remember to refill because my 650mah spinner would die out before the Evod emptied. But now it's the other way around, and the rayon would just keep going to the last drop (and beyond, then you burn the dry wick). So yeah, Jeremy, I guess I AM using slightly more liquid. :)

I would still wager on the wick being dry in the center and being burned. But, I also found a research paper that shows NaCl acts as a catalyst in the hot organic acid depolymerization of cellulose. Some juice manufactures do add saline as a flavor enhancer and for thinning 100% VG.
