Just re-done 3 more toppers with CC.

First the RSST. Made 2 nano coils, 14 wraps each of 30g kanthal around the smallest syringes I have, mounted them horizontally on the RSST, well off the deck. Then popped some CC into the wick hole and filled in underneath the coils (cotton cloud style) with CC. Comes out at 1.2 ohms. Filled up with some Custards Last Stand and vaped away - superb results.

Next the Aios. Vertical micro coil wicked with CC. Superb again.

Finally the RM2, Micro coil again at 1.0 ohm, short tails barely touching the deck - amazing again.

This wick never ceases to amaze me :D

Thought I'd go ahead and repost some of these for newer users since there's so many post to search through..

Here is an example of too little rayon.. A post will follow with a better amount. At lower watts this may ride but higher watts you'll get drying of the coil due to no contact with wick

Too light on density
null_zps859c3c91.jpg

Good density
null_zpse89f59e3.jpg

Too light of a density.
null_zps81216dc7.jpg

Just about right
null_zps37d0e2d5.jpg

First wick at 5 min vape time .. 1.4 // 32 @ 5.5v stacked zmax
null_zps910f5351.jpg

About a Proper wick just soaked it will reduce in size as the air is forced out. you can go slightly lighter as long as you don't lose contact when broke in that's most important.
null_zps27a2a96d.jpg

What happens when you don't use enough, this is first wick after an hour..
null_zps2e7ae7f4.jpg

See the gap, you'll have poor contact across the top of the coil. Causing the coil to dry.

2nd wick well broke in... 4 hours 1.4 // 32 @ 5.8 v I could have went a little lighter on the density in something like a tiafun also.
null_zps581f3bd7.jpg

Most important is use the density that stays in full contact, a light contact is optimol. So straight out. Or enough that your soaked wick is juicing the whole circumference of the coil. If you keep the wick in juice the lighter you can go while not loosing juice contact at the coil the better it will work and the longer coil life before gunking.. So if you run a long time with no gunking and no drying... You know your used the optimol density for your set-up

It essentially should look like a good wick when broke in.

Here a video of my rewicking last night. Sorry no commentary. I guess I can add that next time. I went with a much lower quality using the front facing camera on the iphone so I could upload it directly.

I stretch it initially because it evens the fibers if there's any thicker spots. I usually do it mounted on my mod but the camera angle would be off for the setup I used. So I had to try to hold the base. But I was holding the other end to pull against stretching it down to pull through.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpVveXbZD4U

Yeah half the video is just priming it. Kinda shows how fast it is to wick.

This is the wick this morning after I vaped it pretty hard last night, looks like the density will hold up and looks good. It's vaping great as you can see, Looks brand new.

The one side is going over the high post.
null_zps9af08ccc.jpg

I have the half tails pulled to opposite sides.
null_zpsc3cb368c.jpg

There is definitely some trial and error beginning to use rayon. It's hard to judge off the bat. You have to see how it breaks in. There are two factors that stand out to help you tweak your density. Checking the wick after you vape it for an hour to a tank. Secondly gunk build up in the middle of the coil showing it's too tight. The ideal size is even with the coil od so it just goes straight out as an extension of the of the coil. The ideal wick would look something like this after break in or after a tank ...

null_zps581f3bd7.jpg

Or something like this

null_zps6f03c514.jpg

Or this - The left side is going over a post that's why it's bunched up but see the right side.

NOT

Not this-

null_zps5a9357ec.jpg

Glad you like it redjah,
Yeah you lost contact with the coil when the wick broke in. It happens when you don't use enough. It's been said many times to use more, the original rec was 2 times more to start with. But then some were using too much. It all depends on how you made your cotton wick, because different people used varying amounts.

Somewhere out there
Yeah it's amazing what it does in kangers. My wife's has been going strong for a long time. No leaks what so ever with just the right amount through a 1/16 coil at 1.8 on an ego. Best ever and she vapes a lot more now. And smokes less(yes I know). Last night she ran it completely dry. I mean done dry not a drip in the tank. Looked brand new in there. The ends of the wick were dry and when she stopped there was just enough at the coil that it was fine and just reloaded it.

This is friggen amazing, not a leak or a problem one until every last drop was gone. Ends of the wick were dry and the rayon is still good. Coil still clean.

I can not believe how good the rayon works in Kanger coils. I've done two PTs, one evod, one T3s and one mini protank. Just pull out the old wick, dry burn the coil, straighten out the coil loops a bit, pull some CC through and that's it. Somehow I'm getting the density right on the first try, even though I had trouble with that on the KF. I use a tiny bit more for a top wick if I see a gap between the rayon and the head. I am vaping unflavored today and this mini PT setup is letting me taste the different nuances between different brands of nic, something I've never noticed before (well, OK, I don't do unflavored that often).

Only 7 1/2 weeks since this thread was started on 5-8. The first serious Interest was on 5/23 when abpigdoc, wienner, and tbev jumped in just over 5 weeks ago and the thread started to take off. Abpigdoc was the first to try rayon and asked a serious question, "why isn't everyone using this?". When steam head found the CCr at Sally's brianc111 literally ran over there on 6-02 and reported it was the bomb. This was only 4 weeks ago. And now we're at 2690 posts and over 100,000 views.

I would say the rayon has been a huge hit and is taking the vaping world by storm!

I want to thank those guys that took my word for it and trusted my judgement in the beginning. Guy's thanks! Without your reviews the vaping world would have never been able to experience the amazing properties of the rayon wick.

JeremyR

I did all the work to bring this out to the vaping world. Did all the research to ensure it was safe before and after I dropped it... Kinda funny I have that big R after my forum name. Who would have known it would stand for something so significant for vaping.

you are the man jeremy!!!!!!
we trusted in you because you dont bs... hard to argue with logic and facts!
i firmly believe if some other schmoe would have come out with rayon, he would have been ignored as a crackpot.
i cannot thank you enough for all your efforts in bringing rayon to the vaping world.
i myself only sub-ohm and rayon has really opened up my boundaries. i can do all kinds of bizarre builds that was not really practical with
cotton.
thanks again and keep it up......if you need anything....just holler

I take my green tea neat 100% bro, no sweetener ever and love that pure green tea taste.

I've got some pages from THE book on modern rayon. By a chemical scientist, that I will pm you.

I'd love that Jeremy! Thanks man, I've been doing alot of reading on this ceramic cellu-cotton I found, and trying to find out if it's safe. I can always use more knowledge :p.

I'll add you as a friend, not sure why I haven't to begin with, you changed my wicking universe lol.

Thanks to brookj1986 for being kind enough to send me some rayon to try.

So far I have put in my one of my Kayfuns and in my Patriot.

Opinion so far is it wicks like a champ and I love it in the Patriot but it's too sweet in the Kayfun. I vape zero nic, nothing but fruit and dessert vapes.

Will give it another day in the Kayfun befit I make a final decision.

Right on Girl! :p I personally think Rayon was born for 100% VG, which is thick, hard to wick (for anything else), and somewhat mutes flavor because of it's thickness. Almost anything other than this "cloud science" juice I have made with PG is almost too intense, so I hear you there. I vaped a total PG "skittles" made by my local vape lounge...I almost needed a shot of insulin. I tasted skittles for the next 5 minutes, almost like I took a sip .

Try something full VG if you have it around, or my recent favorite honeydew/coconut by Virgin Vapor. They are normally fairly light, or "watery" flavors, due to the natural fruit, but with Rayon, it tasted just like sinking my teeth into a mouthwatering honeydew.

I bought a 3 oz bag from halcyon yarn and it feels like baby hair lol. It was strange at first to wick it. I literally put through as much as would fit. That was the right choice, I feel like this material is the best choice for any set up. This weekend I put it in everything, .4 ohm dripper, 2.2 ohm dripper, a 1.5 ohm ts3, and a .7 kfl. I even went through a gambit of different juices, everything from high pg to high vg, and the results were just amazing. I know this y has been told over and over again this thread but I had to add mine. I will be back in a week I'm sure to gush about how long a wick lasts. I've tasted flavor like I never have, juice I hated became good and juices that were highly rated are truly complex and favorites are even better. Sigh. Let us all take a moment and appreciate rayon, and let us all thank JeremyR for telling us about it. I'm sure that soon we will be as annoying as provari owners.

This post was found in an ancient ruin, probably left by aliens.

This thread is what prompted me to break down and actually make an ECF account.

Thanks for the pictures, videos, massive amounts of research, helping words, and last but not least, figuring it out in the first place Jeremy.

I just ran a clearo dry. An old GS-H2 with a kanger style coil rebuilt with 1/16 coil and CC. It got low and I just kept going. Forgot about it and suddenly no sizzle and no vapor. I looked and it was empty. Opened it up and the wicks looked dry like I washed it and left it to dry. No dry hit, no burn. Refilled with a different flavor and vape away.
