Oh don't know what I was thinking walmart springvalley meletonin 1 mg is readily available at walmart and contains rayon filler. I just picked some up to compare to Sally's.

Have you learned anything?

For anyone wanting to try rayon balls, you can get 200 of them for $12 shipped. I've posted links before and some people seemed to have problems ordering them. This one should work. Rayon balls are listed under cosmetic supplies and you have to sign up for an account to place an order. I think they work better than the Sally's rayon coil. YMMV

Delasco - Consumer Catalog

Like brianc1111 I did a taste test.. Balled up a small piece of Sally's, like a piece of candy sucked on it. , then balled up a piece of the pharmacuitical/ medical rayon... Sally's had a taste of something to it - the meletonin bottle rayon had no taste, straight out the bottle... Medical/ pharmacuitical tasted cleaner. No taste/ neutral. Sally's tasted like something not sure what.

Thanks for the welcome, and the tips! It's getting on time to have a peek inside my Russian—been running the same wick for a week now, the same coil for two weeks—so I'll try out your boiling technique.

Maybe I should mention that the 'chemically' taste (if that's what it is) does go away after a while, but it can be pretty dreary while it lasts. No biggie, and at its worst, still miles better than my first cotton wick: no-name generic cotton balls from some generic drug store. Ecch!!!

While the CC is drying I'll attempt a single microcoil & rayon rebuild on a fresh nautilus atomizer. I've just about given up on the damned thing, and if rayon won't save it I'll give it to my buddy.

Cheers, eh? (as we're alleged to say in Canada ;))

Seems most of the time if your getting a taste longer than a little while the ray
on is a little too tight. You want it to be snug but not tight. After an hour it should be the same diameter of the coil or OD of the coil no more no less. When you nail the density you shouldnt taste it and you'll notice an improvement in performance.

Good luck.

You can just let it soak in a bath of hot water for a while and Carefully extract it to maintain shape.

Cheers... Hope to visit Vancouver BC some day.

I've been using the CelluCotton rayon for over one month and just love it .. the very best, most fantastic taste and ease of use that I've had in over 4 years of vaping!

Here's a pic of my RM2 on a Reo mini after 5 days of chain vaping with over 60ml through it so far and it's still going strong!

I'm not the healthiest of folks and the current never ending extreme humidity has pretty much kept me inside with the AC running constantly to try to keep the humidity down inside. So I've been in 72 degrees for about a week and a half or so. I'm sure by now you're wondering what this has to do with Rayon and CCr.

To get on topic, as I've been blowing clouds here with my Kayfun (simple horizontal coil, 1.7 ohm) and Fogger V4 (dual horizontal coils, 0.8 ohm) I've been staring at the way the vapor cloud moves. Noticing just how much it resembles cigarette smoke vs the vapor cloud I've grown accustomed to over the past 4 years. I've been thinking on comments about how vapor droplets are like 10x the size of smoke particles which is why even with similar nicotine concentrations vaping doesn't seem to deliver the nicotine as well. And how folks talk about the nic hit on their first rayon wick.

Could it be possible that rayon wicks better or differently or more efficiently than other materials and we're getting smaller vapor particles? And that's why the vape tastes different, nic seems to be delivered in higher dosages and the vapor looks like smoke more so than it did before?

Just some of the random thoughts wondering around up there ;)

Thanks very much for the pictorial - definitely going to try this on the R91!

Will shoot for a 1.5+ ohm coil, for the provari - hope it'll heat a tidge quicker than the straight micro that's on it now.

Edit: How far above the top of the chimney base are you trimming the wicks on the Russian before packing the wells? Would it be the same on the R91?

I've noticed that, or something like it: since switching to rayon, when residual/leftover vapor (vapor, not e-liquid:2cool:) dribbles out of the air hole on my Russian 91% it curls out tight & thready, not puffy. I inadvertently made the smallest 'smoke' ring I've ever seen, waving the thing around trying for a better view. Couldn't have been more than my coil's diameter. Not sure it means anything, but who would have thunk?

Forget Vancouver, there's nothing there:laugh:. Visit the mighty metropolis of Abbotsford instead, 40 short sucky minutes east of the Big Smoke, & I'll have you saying 'eh' like a Canadian (acquired over the years; I was born in Copehagen, too many years ago to matter). Just don't stroll into the Abbotsford Sally's hoping to score some CC. I cleaned them out.

Edit: short attention span, easily distracted. I meant to say I seem to have had the density nailed right out of the starting blocks. Has to be instinct, plus a lot of reading on this thread, since it can't be brains.

I still don't think it has to do with nets specifically.. Your rayon shows some scorching like cotton. makes one wonder, as it shouldn't be if everything is set up proper .. Maybe still too tight.

Maybe I need to pick up 30ml of net to run through my builds for comparison... Maybe 60-90 ml :)

What size coil, ohms, atty, mech?

Maybe something I am doing. Never used to get that when I was vaping unflavored, I would make cotton wicks last 8+ days and they would still be clean all the way through. 30g kanthal, 1/16 drill bit, 2.1 ohms, taifun gs, vtr @ 4.1-4.3v. In the gs, the wick is basically a reservoir, the feeding is done for me by the ss mesh straws, similar to the flash-e if you used full mesh straws rather than silica with those little pieces of mesh on top.

I had to look the "Thunk" word up. ..dialect past and past participle of think
But I always thought it was: "Thought"
What is the difference between Thunk and Thought?

Thunk is a fun word, it's a sign of how we like to make things more complicated than they are.

As an example, the plural of roof is roofs ('up on the roofs'), but if people are free to make their own plural without being contradicted then some will say rooves. This is an irregular form as against the simple, regular plural - apparently if something is too simple for the brain, it thinks there must be a mistake, and corrects it by making the answer more complicated.

There's a moral in there somewhere :)
