i rewicked one of the kayfuns for testing,
i jammed so much sallys in the coil that i had to hold the coil from pulling with it.

first i noticed alot more vapor. very nice!
i tried to give it a dry hit by very lightly hitting on it for several long pulls(i removed air adjustment screw) and not even a hint of dryhit.
flavor is thicker too
went through half of a tank and i believe it might be that its opposite of cotton
more is better

Yes most definately more is better with rayon/cellucotton. That's why my wick looks so huge.. See the size compared to the coil..
5/64 coil.

It's about 3 times more than you would think you need. So if your comming from cotton your better to start at 3 times more than you think! It's pretty hard to over do it.:)

It also seems to prefer 5/64 coil size over a 1/16 coil. It's the next size up, But either work.

In my reos I run 1.5mm coils. I really have to stuff the rayon in there, otherwise I get a burning taste. Funnily enough, it doesn't appear to be the wick that's burning - it looks totally clean.

It's crazy that the coil will dry burn before the rayon does, isn't it? Next time try a larger diameter coil. You really no longer need the tiny long coils to get the same performance with rayon. The other thing is it releases the juice to the coil so fast that 1.5 mm may not have enough juice inside it.. But more density may help the 1.5.

Actually it sounds like you need more density. Usually coil dry hit is because the rayon lost contact with the top of the coil.

If your running 1.5mm make sure you get a lot in there so its pretty heavy outside the coil. Shoulder wise, that way you have reserve that the rayon can suck into the coil as the tiny diameter wick unloads to the hot coil.

Can we get a summary up to this point in the thread? So the good stuff is CelluCotton brand that also says 100% Rayon Fibers from Sally Beauty Supply?

All I know is so far in the last weeks of reading this thread, I have ordered (and not received yet):

1. Tencel Top
2. Rayon
3. Cellucotton 100% rayon

..All to find out that the most popular answer as of now is #3, and is sold at Sally's...10 min from my house

I find it kind of hilarious, that with the known "twisted minds" of some of our members, that no one has yet to point out one of the first products rayon was used in, to provide "superior wicking". (unless it's back 500 or so posts, and I completely missed it).

I'll let you google that one yourself. :?:

If you're thinking what I think you're thinking, yes, it was mentioned in passing in a previous post. ;)

I hear ya. The day after I ordered rayon balls (expected to be delivered tomorrow) Cellucotton was deemed the winner. I have a Sally's within walking distance of my house.

Sorry guys this was all about rayon - yes cellucotton is the same thing I recommend. Some went off on how it was processed so I brought out tencel which has a different process.. Really comes down to it doesn't much matter. The end product rayon is clean and better than tencel to work with.. Tencel is a straight fiber which is very similar to using ramie but not as stiff.

The search for the rayon I got from the bottles has ended and the cellucotton is it..! or any rayon batting you find in other countries should be the same.

Cellucotton is what I recommend for best performance and ease of use it is this thread.

I know what it is...:)

I did kinda bury it in that post... About 300 back I think..

Maybe we should run a contest, for those that don't have rayon yet.. First two to find the secret use mention and the post number... You get a small envelope of cellucotton rayon and/or tencel.

:)

I'm getting good vapor production, but I don't know.. I've only tried it with omega.. and I tried a super failed vertical build in magma.. I used it like a rope, so I'm going to try a straight filler next.

I'll do a normal build with magma.. cuz that makes practically anything feel wet, but so far, the vapor/flavor feels dry with my omega..didn't snap a picture of build. It was snug in there, but no mark from coil or shrinking from heat..80% vg

I'm looking forward to drilling out an old agi to play with it with nano coils on beds/clouds with this stuff though..

So to reiterate: the good stuff is Graham CelluCotton 44130 (100% Rayon Fibers) which might be available at Sally Beauty Supply and places on the web like this place which has it for under $4:
Graham CelluCotton Beauty Coil - 40 ft - $3.18 - at Texas Beauty Supplies

Edit: That link has a minimum order of $7

This is where you have to read carefully - the small boxes in the store are 100% cotton, NOT rayon. Yet they're called the same thing and the box looks the same. I saw these at Sally's and almost picked up the little box instead. You also have to be sure it doesn't say 'reinforced' rayon.

This looks to be the right stuff though.
