And the top cap on the Patriot hasn't been drilled out right?

Yes drilled. Smaller than 1.95mm and larger than 1.35mm so I am guessing about 1.5mm each hole. Not sure what I used to open them up with but I do have my normal stash of bits handy with the sizes on the baggie for comparison.

Edit: Measured it with a caliper and got 1.7mm. It has a funny whistle when I am not firing the device. Drives the dogs crazy! It vapes like a champ with a moist and productive vape that gives the sensation of drinking the juice if that makes sense.

Poor juggalo...you're having just a heck of a time, aren't you?

And as long as it wasn't dirty gym socks or anything gross, I would just rinse that rayon out!

Lol not quite. It was a jar of solder flux, most if it was save able, the bag however not... And im out if ziploc bags

Atroph : if you chamfer the holes they won't whistle. ;-)

Lol. Very strange that you would post that.

I just went out to the garage and twisted some 32ga. I had to use some type of bit to get the wire locked in my chuck. I grabbed a short conical 2mm dia. stone and did my work. When I put the bit back in the pile I thought to myself... I wonder if I took the sharp edges off of those holes it would stop whistling.

Thanks Tbev for confirming my thoughts! Brilliant minds think alike! :)

You took the words right out of my mouth, except I was going to say usually won't whistle.

My R91 still whistles sometimes but it could be that I didn't chamfer the airflow screw hole (just the inlet) and the screw is always out.

Actually it makes perfect sense. My patriot, drilled to 3/32" has a bit of a whistle too and with rayon the flavor is so moist its like drinking the juice

Sitting down, facing forward.
Slickwilly, I'm running 32 gauge coils right now on my Vamo at 1.8 ohms. My secret/...SS flat washers under the cheese head screw heads. Drop me a PM and I'll stick a few in an envelope for you. They take all the "squirm" out of tightening the screws and make it easy to get things the way you want them with the coils.

32ga wires are the worst. I hate them with a firey passion. Skinny springy little buggers.

28 and 26 are my fav, especially for someone like me who prefers mid sub ohm. Definitely helps that they are beefy and stiff enough to withstand the tugs when wicking with rayon.

Lol. 32 gauge is all I use. If you handle the wick a certain was you can reduce and tugging on the coil while you get the density in there. I'm sure it's a Whole Lot easier with heavier gauge. And I'm sure you don't want to mess with it. Just for other that may be working with it.

I've read through the vast majority of this thread, but I can't remember if anyone has tried dragon wicking with rayon.... does anybody know if that works? I tried nano dragon coils with cotton and never could seem to get them to wick worth a crap, but I'm about to rebuild my coils and just had the thought of maybe trying nano dragons again now that I've made the switch to a far superior wick material.... thoughts?

32g's not so bad. It's just a little bit more delicate, but it heats up so fast! I wrap it tight, then spread it out after I wick - if you don't wrap it tight, it will get a little squirrelly. The bad part is in trying to save it when it's time to rewick, because the crud will glue the wick on it. Then when you do get the wick off, the ends are so thin that it's barely worth saving. I usually dry-burn with the wick still in it, until it can pull out easily. If nothing else, it's great for twisting, then it holds up a little better.

I was just wondering about that too. I just got a Cats RDA and it's a PITA to wick vertical coils in it (hard to tug to feel for the squeak). Maybe rayon confetti instead of long strands? You know, just snip snip snip into teeny tiny pieces? Or a combo of both?

LOL @ rayon confetti!! Too funny!
Might work though... not sure, I was thinking about twisting it a bit then wrapping around the coil kinda dragon style with a bit of a bed in the deck/well... really not too sure how to work it out yet... just wondered if anyone else has tried...

My thought with the long wrapped-around coil was that it would take too long for it to do its capillary action thing. That's why I thought of rayon confetti. So maybe a thinnish wrap, bed of long strands with some sprinkles...OK, you try it first, and let me know!
...oh, I know. Let's get Kiwi. He'll try anything! He likes it! Hey Kiwi!

LMAO.... yeah, but Kiwi is like Mikey from the commercials.... "Kiwi Likes It!" (Showing my age too much?)
I just recoiled 28g 6/5 wrap that came out to around .4 on my multimeter and wicked through like I usually do.... not really happy with the performance, but I'm gonna give it a bit and see how it goes... may try to do nano dragon later today though... I'm kinda in the mood to play... can't wait for my new gear to come in... this is my only rebuildable at the moment :(

haha I just edited that post.
Whatcha got? Whatcha getting?

I just got a KFL+ V2, a Pulse genny and a Cats RDA this week. The KFL is fiddly as hell (a lot like sleeping on a lumpy mattress - just can't find the right spot), but the genny was great off the bat with rayon, and I think I need an ugly RDA to practice my timing on - it's gonna take me some time to get the hang of dripping. The Cats RDA is kinda my LITTLE PORN STAR. Once I get my camera gear working, it's gonna take some pretty pictures.
