That seems awfully premature.
Were you able to pull the wick out easily? If so it was too loose. It looks a little too light. You want it snug in the coil. Go a little thicker and trim the tails short. If you pull both sides of the wick near the chamber it will make it smaller so you can pull more thickness though without pulling the coil. When you get to the point it stops in the coil grab both sides and stretch it and pull the part that stopped all the way to the other side. You should feel and hear the rayon song (squeak) at this point.

When the rayon is too loose the coil loses contact with the wick and the coil will overheat causing gunking.

The wick did pull out fairly easy, it came out easier than it went in anyway.
I too thought it was premature, a learning curve for sure. I actually thought it was to much when I pulled it in because it was pulling the coil.

Guy that builds at my favorite shop told me he didn't like rayon bc it didn't last as long as Japanese cotton, I laffed @him and told him he wasn't doing it right a hd handed him 20 ft of Sally's, he insisted h was doing it right now rayon sucks... The guy sitting at the bar jumped up " can 8 have some of that!?" so I hooked him up instead. Can't help the helpless.

I just received my Rayon "circumcision" scissors for $1.57 shipped. Amazon.com : Deluxe Razor Sharp Quick-Snip - 4-1/2" - All Metal - GREAT Bonzai Scissor : Fishing Pliers And Tools : Sports & Outdoors

I'm very impressed how easy it is to trim/cut the Rayon wicks now.

AMD,

I got mine the other day. They are the only scissors in the house that will trim rayon without leavening a few uncut thread that you don't see until you pull the scissors away and pull the wick out of the coil at the same time.

A few pages back somebody asked if any one combined cotton and rayon. I'm not sure how the question was worded, but I did do some thing. Here is my tale.

My Origen is one of my favourites. But like any dripper, if you tip it over, it drips out the air hole. So I borrowed an idea from Zippo. I took some cotton yarn and tucked it down in the recess below the deck. Just around the circumference, outer edge. I then put the CCr wicks in and layed them on the cotton yarn. Juiced her up and vaped. Did a couple of tilts, layed her down, did the hokey pokey. Nothing. No dribbles. Both flavour and vapour were there. Been running 6 days now without a drip or leak. I've had to change the wick every 2 days because my coffee juice gunks it up something fierce. But I'm keeping the "tampon" in there.

My second favourite device is the Kayfun Lite PMMA version. Very light and I can see the juice level all the way to the end. However, after the level gets down to about half it gurgles, leaks and misbehaves. Maybe a vacuum leak. Who knows. But with my mastery of wick-fu I was unable to solve the problem. Sooo, I cut 2 pieces of cotton yarn, stuck them onto the deck below the wick and put the wick back over. Screwed on the chimney, wetted everything down and filled her up. I'm on my second tank after taking it down to near empty and not one gurgle or hint of flooding.

Curiously, before, the same juice would turn darker as the level dropped and the taste would change. Now the colour stays the same and so does the flavour all the way down. Maybe the cotton is acting as a filter? I've got some NET I want to try with this.

These are the only 2 devices I've tried so far. Everything else is working fine with CCr. But I do have some more devices on the way. I love experimenting.

Not much too it. I scrounge for flavors that I already have, and I never measure carefully. As long as you have Cap Vanilla Custard and some kind of caramel (I like Dulce de Leche), you can add anything you want:

About 10% Capella Vanilla Custard (this one's the eggiest that I've tried)
About 1-2% Dulce de Leche or caramel of your choice (brown sugar, caramel, ...)
About 1-2% Cream of your choice (bavarian cream, sweet cream, vienna cream, ... or French Vanilla)
A tiny drop or two of RealLemon or apple cider vinegar (optional, but helps bring out the creamy)
Sweetener to taste. (I do about 2%).

I've been told that this is very close to Grant's Vanilla Custard (never tried it). I like my flavors strong, but I've had to dilute this mix slightly due to rayon. Really strong on the first day, so let steep for a day or two before diluting if needed. I didn't wait - diluted too much and I'm out of Cap VC. :grr:

ZOMG - a cook/chef after mine own heart !

I know man I've seen that problem from the beginning out in the wider vape world. I knew it was going to be something that would occur and haters would feed on it.... So, keep thinking you know how to do it and say rayon sucks. Or come to the place that created this and Learn the correct way to use it. Or learn from someone that knows the correct way to do it... Well it's like baking too, a lot of factors can influence the end result. (User error)
