ok, im confused... I went to sallys, didnt find the large box, so i bought a couple 10ft bags. It was minutes before closing. Im sitting here getting ready to rewick a coil, and the damn bag i bought says 100% pure cotton, .... This is exactly what I bought
http://www.sallybe auty.com/cotton-coil/SBS-580100,default,pd.html

It clearly states in the description that its made out of naturally soft rayon fibers, but if thats the case why does it say cotton? im unsure if i should open one up and look at it, or return it and find a big box that actually says rayon on it, not cotton. The bigger box has the stock number 44060, and says it is made of rayon, not cotton. anyone have any input? what the hell do i have?

Not to be a dickk but I said that like 74 times in this thread already.... But that's OK now you get to be the first official beta tester for the alpaca fur wicks! Congratulations!

I has to flip a coin to decide between this one and my current favorite for an avatar in an effort to get close to as cool as the big box!

I think that's the point, and the source of the misunderstanding! With the "pill bottle" rayon, just a bit more than cotton will do miracles - in a pinch, same quantity still outperforms cotton for me.

Probably the rayon tops require different wick packing, more dense, to achieve similar performance.

I think a lot of that argument came from the talk on how to properly use the tencel top.

Ok so here's my update.
First off petemoss thank you for your generous care package! Received it in the mail today ( queens to queens is pretty quick lol)
Just wrapped a new coil ( .9) and threaded through some of this frankencotten. Juiced it up, let it sit, juiced again and took a pull...
Blech! Cottony taste! Another couple hits... Cotton, cotton...
Dripped some blue rasberry in.... There we go.
Tastes really good, but I still get the cotton undertones I always got with the cvs rolled stuff. I will say this, it loses that overpowering cotton flavor quicker than the rolled cotton. Will continue to take a few hits and squonk to see if it goes away completely ( it usually did for me... That is, the wick "broke in" after a good session.

I'm way over nic'ed right now lol. Was doing comparison hits between the ready wick and this stuff.

The ready wick to me doesn't have that undertone of wick flavor... But the flavor is also, surprisingly, a little muted in comparison.
Will continue to use and keep apprised. In a day or so I might switch it out to play with wick density. Here's a pick in case anyone has any tips. Maybe it's too dense? It's way more than I would have used if it was cotton

Wow you got a cotton taste.. Maybe it was left over from the cotton wick... But seriously you must have used a ton rolled tight or it wasn't saturated fully.

I did keep saying 2-3 times just to try to break the less is more habit. Because when this breaks in it gets smaller, also the bottle rayon I had was washed so it came out fluffier, the cellucotton is slightly tighter to begin with. 2 times seems right with cellucotton out the box as its tighter.

Are you rolling your wick. It sounds like you probably rolled it tight, something like you would see on youtube with cotton. That's probably why it took so long to break in.. Don't roll it tight. Only the point tip should be tight enough to get through the coil. Seperate a piece that looks twice as big as the coil. Lightly roll in your palms just to a round shape not compressed to look like silica.

See how fluffy I've left this wick before it was pulled through. (This was boiled bottle rayon but it shows the fluffy density you really want)

Point the end through grab both side lightly twist just enough to bring to coil size to pull it through. Untwist check for slide with some resistance. Trim your tails a little longer.

I say a little longer because the rayon delivers juice so quick to the coil that a short one can be run dry with high wattage fast. But typically the coil will dry before the rayon starts to burn.

We are going on only 2 weeks since others have started trying it in different configurations. I have always used it in verticals and just intee last two weeks got a flashi and working with horizontal through coil wicking with it.

Basically when the wick is broke in after a day you want it to look like your cotton or hemp. Nice and straight out the coil with possibly a ever so slight shoulder. As long as it doesn't loose contact with the top ends of the coil.

It's evident that the least amount of density you need to remain in contact with the coil when broke in is best for higher wattage. A tighter density may be better for low wattage so it's not so saturated. It hasn't been confirmed but that's were I'm leaning.

Coming out of "lurk mode" :) Picked up a box last night. I run mostly Evods with 1.8 ohm microcoils and cotton at 8 watts. I'll be wicking one up shortly and based on what I've read so far have been leaning toward what you just posted, denser for lower wattage and slightly less dense for higher wattage.

Will probably have another go at the AGA T2 as well but after switching to cotton and micros on the evods the vapor production and flavor increased such that the performance and simplicity caused me to lose interest in fussing with other attys.

Can't wait to see if the CC kicks it up another notch.

Today is the one month anniversary for this thread and we have broke 20,000 views!

Pretty considerable considering it didn't take off till 5-22, when abpigdoc, tbev, wienner, &Brianc1111 jumped in on a whim.. Thanks guys for taking a chance in the face of adversity.

Steam head actually found the cellucotton source we were searching for.. Only 7 days ago!!!!
Hey guys, read this thread from the beginning... how about this?

Graham CelluCotton Reinforced Beauty Coil Rayon 3lbs

100% percent rayon fibres; not sure what they mean by "reinforced"... maybe a denser core? Fibers look pretty close the that pharma coil that JeremyR seems to prefer. Either way, 3lbs should last a good week or two, right? ;)

Ugh, $8 shipping... group buy?

Brian found it at Sally's beauty supply only 6 days ago!!
just went to sally's beauty supply and picked up some "cellucotton"...
500ft for $11. it looks just like a cotton ball after you unroll it. it is way fluffier than tencel. if you didnt know better youd think it was cotton but of a better quality. i love the box it comes in.....just peel the opening and reel what you need and cut it.

loaded up the taifun with a grandmaster clone i make. in the past id only put the grandmaster in the kayfuns because it tasted better in the kf. but ill be damned if it doesnt taste the same.

have a .7 coil in it and am hitting the hell out of it on a new battery, so far ....awesome!!!!! vapor is really excellent..flavor is great
im going to load up all the other atties and test this out

And the first full report on the cellucotton that day 6-02 - only 6 days ago.

well ive wicked all my rba's with "cellucotton" , i think ill call it sallys rayon...
anyway...in the taifun, i cant get a dry hit at all. ive drilled the air to 7/64 per cloud 50's mod and have a 26ga 3/32 bit .7 ohm build on it.
with cotton id get dry hits if i didnt take care on how i hit it. with tencel, id get one dry hit about once maybe twice per tank.
with sallys rayon, i cant get one to happen. ive tried.
in the kayfuns, what can i say, they are easy. tencel was great, no problems, great flavor. with sally's rayon, same thing. great flavor, great vapor.
in the fogger v4.3...with tencel..i just had it stuffed on the opening of juice port and it was great, but id get a little juice through air intakes. and that was with a .8ohm build oh and with the airband all the way out...awesome vape!
now with sally's rayon, same build, same wicking method, i didnt get any juice coming out of the air intake.
so...i dropped down to a .4 ohm build....to push it ... no dry hits....no juice out of airholes.....airband all the way out, the vape is close to if not right there with a dripper!

I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO COTTON!!!!!!!!
another thing i like about sally's rayon is how easy it is to work with. easier but similar to cotton. sometimes when you cut cotton it will pull with the scissors. not rayon...cuts through it like butter... easier to get accurate cuts.
anyway, i cant say enough good things to say about this stuff.
im going to send some to cloud 50 on youtube and let him check it out...he is a BOSS at wicking!
