My neighbor is an internal medicine doctor, I asked him for his opinion last week. He looked closely at both the KGD and the CC, he even used a magnifying glass. He told me he'd much rather see me vaping with the CC, he was very leary of the manufacturing process of the KGD, didn't like some of the little thingies he saw in under thru a magnifying glass and he felt of all the different vaping materials that I've shown him in the past for vaping (CVS cotton, silica, peaches & cream, bamboo, ReadyX, and others) that he thinks the CC is the safest for me to use. Just one doctors opinion but one that I personally trust a lot.
That's the kind if information I like. Maybe rethinking this some more.
Thanks for that. :)

I wrote to someone who manages a blog on Lyocell, the most recent iteration of rayon and, in all likelihood, the safest to consider for our purposes. As I've read, the process used to make Lyocell/Tencel is more eco-friendly than previous versions (rayon and modal). In fact, the agent used to process the eucalyptus pulp is not acidic or harmful to human touch, and one can even dip a hand in without any consequences. This person seems to have been involved in getting the FDA to approve Lyocell for medical purposes as an alternative to cotton - for whatever that is worth.

While this material sounds promising, I'd like to try to source a) a product made from Lyocell and b) a product that is made for medical uses.

If he responds to my email, I'll report back with any information he imparts.

On a personal note: while being diligent and thorough on this matter is important, I cannot imagine a product used in bed sheets and undergarments could be all that dangerous. if the stuff is getting into lungs, it is getting into the lungs of countless hundreds of millions sleeping on the stuff for 1/3rd of each day.

Thanks for your comprehensive review!

Both of the products used (CC and KGD) excel for my needs. I had low expectations for the CC coming in because the KGD really does all I'll ever need a wick to do. The CC is IMO at least equal to it from a performance standpoint. That is a lofty achievement. The only place KGD outshines for me is the snip and wick simplicity. Add in slightly more vibrant flavor and claimed better transport / wicking and this product (CC) could be money for allot of vapers.

This is a pretty solid statement from a cotton lover. First time using CCr.

CC is a much brighter white than KGD. I know absolutely nothing about the manf process or what residuals remain, but really bright white tells me chemicals were used. Residuals in the juice stream? Dunno.
it's pure cellulose essentially made in a lab.

With a reo you eliminate all the problems us non bottom feeders suffer from which is really where the CCr makes a huge difference. In rba tanks.

And that it has a half life of 12 days in air. So 24 days from the time it was produced it would be undetectable....
Let me start with I'm waiting on a sample I'm eager to try. Secondly I think it's at least as safe as an organic cotton.

But I'm completely unclear how this statement (the quoted part) is factually correct. Unless they've changed the meaning of half life from when I studied nuclear engineering in the late 70's, half life means when the amount remaining is half what it started from. So with a half life of 12 days, after 12 days, half the material would be left. After another 12 days (another half life) half of the remaining material would be left or a half of a half or a quarter of the original amount. It'd take approximately 10 half lives (2 to the power of 10) to be at a level of one thousandth of the original amount, or approx 120 days or 4 months.

What are the approx dimensions on that box. I have a box of the same (44043) on its way, but the fedex tracking says the dimensions are 10x10x3" which didn't sound right. The weight sounds right though (3.6lbs).

My box is 9 1/2" square, in every direction it is 9 1/2". My box has the number 44060 on it, not 44043. I do know some people have gotten some with numbers other than 44060 and then found out theirs was not rayon but I don't know if your 44043 is one of those or not. Here is what my box is:

You are correct. Thanks.

But it's not detectable to begin with, rayon is oeko tex certified chemical free.

I doubt any amount if there was any would be detectable after a short time. Do we receive our rayon within 4 months , that I highly doubt at this point.

I have another doctor friend who is a leading hand restoration plastic surgeon and also works in the hospital emergency room, I sent him an email a little while ago asking him his opinion. He does surgery 5-6 days a week, he's a dear friend and he has given me his opinions about ecigarettes and my vaping all along the way for the past 4 years. He took great interest and has monitored my vaping because I had very bad, life threatening lung issues 4 years ago ... which, by the way, all went away within a short time of me stopping smoking and started vaping.

JeremyR....you rock! I saw this thread about a couple of weeks ago and kind of left it at that. Then a couple of days ago I read it again. I read the posts and decided I had to buy a box. I first wicked my PT2 coil.......no cotton taste right from the get go....worked awesome! So, next was the one I reallly wanted to use it on...my KFL+ of course! Been using it for 3 days straight, not a single dry hit, burnt taste or gurgle! And I stuffed my coil with it! I am amazed and will use this as my new wick in any coil I make! Thank you JeremyR for bringing this to the forum! I believe this is truly a game changer. This was the answer to all of my KFL+ wicking woes! I urge anyone with a Kayfun to give this stuff a try...you won't be disappointed!:toast:

I agree with this so much, in fact I giggle everytime I read posts about purity because I use to inhale burning paper thru a nasty filter made of "something" and then put thousands of nasty chemicals and carcinogens in my lungs ... over and over every single day for years and years. What I don't want are little fibers going inside my lungs, and that is why my doctor friend and my doctor neighbor were so against things like silica, some of the cottons I showed them and ReadyX too.

That is the 500' box. I ordered the 3lbs box like RSZ1. 44043 is the same material. This is what I found on the Graham web site. The stuff in green is all the same. The stuff in red is the reinforced; the stuff not to get.

44040 Regular Coil 1200 Ft. Dispenser Box
44043 Regular Coil 3 Lbs. Dispenser Box
44060 Regular Coil 500 Ft. Dispenser Box
44130 Regular Coil 40 Ft./Box 12 Boxes/Case

44050 Reinforced Coil 1200 Ft. Dispenser Box
44053 Reinforced Coil 3 Lbs. Dispenser Box
44070 Reinforced Coil 500 Ft. Dispenser Box
