Got the whole.mod family all stuffed with rayon. It has brought the rm2 to life the russian no longer leaks after top fills. The w3 no longer has muted flavor. The only thing is it can't wick fast enough for my genny but hey that thing is just a shelf ornament anyways since the reo and kayfun came along. I have said this before but thanks to the op this has changed my vape forever cotton taste like dirty old socks now...any one want organic rolled cotton in two pound quantities? Lol

Has anyone used Sally's CC in a Taifun GS yet, I have a GS sitting around I could never get to wick right and wondering how the CC works in that.

If you get yours working perfectly, please let me know. I struggled since I've owned the gs to get it to wick properly.

I really want to love my GS, but have never been able to get it to wick correctly. I'm hoping with the CC since it doesn't expand as much I will be able to get it to wick correctly.

Thanks to brookj1986 for being kind enough to send me some rayon to try.

So far I have put in my one of my Kayfuns and in my Patriot.

Opinion so far is it wicks like a champ and I love it in the Patriot but it's too sweet in the Kayfun. I vape zero nic, nothing but fruit and dessert vapes.

Will give it another day in the Kayfun befit I make a final decision.

I've been using Rayon in all my atomizers with no problems, and recently have tried using it in a KFL V2 and ran into my first issues with CC.

Dry hits in a Kayfun is something I'm not used to, and I've tried 5/64 and 3/32 dia coils with the same regular wicking style that always works for me with regular cotton, but with CC I end up getting dry hits.

Anyone have tips / suggestions / pics of their CC + Kayfun builds?

To check if it's my build, I just installed Cotton yarn in this KFL and no issues, but I really want to get the CC workin in it. CC works great in my fogger V4's.

Edit, I should mention I only use 28 and 30 gauge in the Kayfun for builds between 1 - 1.7 ohms.

Agreed , I have a r91 setup @1.4ohm with Sally's and it rips, use less.

I have a Helio dripper with a 0.8 0hm build on it that was the first atty I wicked w rayon, it's had at least 60 ml prolly closer to 100ml thru it, 5 different but similar juices and it's still hanging in there just fine.

Guys I'm using a new wicking method I would like your opinion on it. I take a piece of rayon and I pull fibers out of it and put them on top of each other. I do it repeatedly at the end I feel that the volume decreases and the rayon piece becomes smooth and consistent just like a koh gen do piece. What do you think?

Treehead, glad you joined us and thanks for the super thorough review! It's really cool to see guys who really know their .... (like yourself and superX) give their opinions, it should IMO make as much of an impact on public opinion as 100 peons such as myself giving glowing reviews.

Glad you're enjoying it, the word is certainly getting out!

 that's an awesome pic man, pretty much states 2015 :p.

LoL, when I bought my CC at a local Sally's I asked the clerk if they were selling more of it lately, she told me no more then usual. I told her she may want to order more, the rush is coming, she just looked at me funny. She must have thought that was really odd, a guy coming in looking for CC wrap and telling her to stock up.

XD Yeah, she probably thinks a sorority group is coming to town needing toe-spacers. I've been looking into "sanitary pads" and what they use (ashamedly), it's just a matter of time before we're using playtex "time of the month" pads as our wicks!

It's been trial and error for me but was finally able to get it working on my clearo this morning. I need to do a taste test with the rayon and my cotton yarn. I think I'm getting a bit better flavor but the rayon is a cleaner vape if that makes sense. Actually, the flavor is getting better as I vape it right now.

Yeah nilla, I've found it's a really good wick for my Nautilus too. I don't use it too much anymore (because I'm primarily a dripper), but for the heck of it I wicked it in my Nautilus, and it's pretty perfect. I have to admit, my Nautilus is the best flavor machine I own right now, even better than my immortilizer or even SQuape/Russian 91%, and this is where it really shines in flavor. Something about the tiny chimney of my glassomizers really brings a direct flavor, and when I started you can literally taste the silica, or even cotton after I rebuilt it. But I rebuilt my Nauti with rayon, and I have a feeling carto fan's will be a fan of rayon too. I haven't had any flooding, or dry hits yet, and because it's almost a perfect medium between silica and cotton, it's an amazing fit. It truly tastes like vaping your juice straight off the coils in a cartomizer.

Im having good days with cc and im having bad days with cc. Every once in a while I create the ultimate rayon wick in my dripper, it works fantabulously until i decide to rewick. Install a new rayon wick and i get sh.t taste...pull out new wick, install slightly smaller rayon and try again. more sh.t taste. rewick again and again, just using a little less each time. finally get what i think is almost too little and starts working great again. Im two weeks into rayon and feel just the same as users who just bought their cellucotton box today!

Point is, dont give up, dont get mad, dont blame jeremyR, your inability to wick properly is your fault. Remove wick and create new one. Do it until you get the best vaping experience of your life, because rayon will deliver, if you build it right...

I think it depends on what your using too, good point Keplinger. I use RDA's so it's not very "temperamental" you could say :p, my golden rule is to simply wick just enough so that the Rayon is touching (ever-so-slightly) the inside of your coils. I basically wick cotton the same exact way, but with Rayon, I use just a little more.

Just a little resistance is what you want when pulling your Rayon through, I build on an ohm meter, and if it's perfect (about a hair more than the diameter of the coil) then I shouldn't have to hold the meter "hard" when pulling the wick through. Just wedge it in, don't compact it in if that makes sense. It's a little more forgiving that cotton which is what I love about it, it can be a little denser and still wick better. Also I found that increasing my airflow with Rayon helps it really shine personally, but that just may be personal preference.

Wharfrat, I didn't boil the cc - it was just a fresh cc wick - taste was/is excellent.

bsoplinger, I installed the coil onto the - / + posts using the 5/64 bit as a guide to keep it straight over the tank hole. Once everything was tightened down and tested on the multimiter, I then pulled about 2-3 inches of cc and then separated out what I estimated I would need for that size coil - twisted a point onto one end and threaded it through the coil towards the tank hole. Using something pointy (I used needle nose tweezers and then just a very small jewelers screwdriver) I then started pushing the wick into the tank - all the while thinking to myself: "this outta take a few hours... " - But to my surprise, and due to the cc's long stranded quality, the wick just nicely kept sliding into the tank. I was surprised how easily it all got setup... much easier then using SS mesh, and NO shorts !!

EDIT: By pushing the wick into the tank, I meant to say that I do this from the end of the coil just over the tank hole.. so very tight quarters, but definitely doable.. I am not known for my patience :)

Dat easiness though. One of my favorite parts about CC to be honest, it's like working with twist ties instead of kanthal; so much easier, but more importantly, it does what you want it to do.

I personally just scrub and rinse my Rayon with scalding hot tap water, I've wicked a few without rinsing and I don't notice any bad flavor. But then again, I'm no wine connoisseur, I've never really been picky about any taste really, hell I love green tea unsweetened, which is something I've never heard anyone agree with. BUT I can taste (and don't really prefer) cotton aftertaste, and that's something rayon has never given me. My guess is, if your having Rayon taste, that your using something other than Cellu-Cotton, that your really putting some heat on it, or...my taste buds are broken lol :D.

NahkriinKrosis,

I would definitely leave the fill plug out if the is the only air hole into the tank.

The rayon tends to get like a blob of jelly and doesn't let the tank breath. You don't want any vacuum to build up in the tank.

Now it depends on how you use your mod in a horizontal or .... down position. With the fill plug out if you experience any leaking from the tank to the coil deck there is a trick I use (actually I stole the idea from my ZAP). I trim off the top of a long pointy drip tip from one of my empty juice bottles and insert (or screw in) to the fill port. The net result will be a very small hole to allow air to enter the tank preventing any vacuum build up and prevent any impediment to the wicking action. :2c:

I was thinking the same thing, I have a Prometheus (which vapes epicly btw) and I found out through a few days of frustration that it does help to have a "vent holes" as well as a wick hole. So I drilled out the wick holes to 7/64th's, and drilled an extra 1/16th" vent hole, and it's a whole new animal. That thing makes more vapor than a dripper when the dual 1/8th" airholes are wide open, and goes through juice faster too, I recently wicked it with CC and it definitely bumped it up a notch. The biggest improvement is; that I don't have top tip it upside down anymore. It works as it's intended (even with a dual 0.2ohm coil), and wicks totally upraight while chain vaping. I love my 91%, but it's my tank of choice right now, until my pre-ordered SQuape R get's here anyway.

Guys I still have one kayfun unconquered. The coil is 1/16 diameter and 0.8 ohms so running roughly at 18 watts. I need a confirmation that this is not working for anyone. If someone has this setup working please post a pic of your build. Of course I can make the tails very short and don't rely on wicking but my airhole is big and I don't want to suck my brains out. I will keep on trying tweaking with the density but I'm not sure I will get somewhere.

I have a prometheus wicked with CC which is basically a kayfun upside down if you want to see that, but I'd suggest (not folding in half if you are) wicking just tight enough to make contact with the inner coils, and make sure the CC is touching the deck near the canals (and only taking up less than half of the "juice deck"). Without a doubt (in my experience), CC sucks the juice up at least 3x as fast as cotton (or peaches and cream yarn which I still have a roll of). I honestly don't own my russian anymore so I can't speak from experience with CC, but that's what I'd imagine would help.

I take my green tea neat 100% bro, no sweetener ever and love that pure green tea taste.

I've got some pages from THE book on modern rayon. By a chemical scientist, that I will pm you.
