So, I've been very happy with rayon lately, but I'm experiencing something that's mildly concerning.
I've got a stillare wrapped with dual 24ga Kanthal, 2mm ID, clocks in around 0.33 ohms on a mech; around 10 wraps. My issue is that the coil is retaining a lot of heat, and continues vaporizing (very slightly, but consistently) for a solid 2-3 seconds after I'm done. I've even taken to inhaling for a second after releasing the button, but it'll still keep going for a second or two after that.
I've tried a 3mm coil around the same resistance (maybe a wee bit higher, around 0.35), but then I run into ramp-up time issues. It's not an instant fog machine, but it's only delayed a half second or so with the 2mm. I should mention that I'm using a chuff-style cap on the Stillare, and the thing is crazy airy.
It's confusing because the coils stayed clean for 10-20ml, then started to darken in the center, now they're fully dark (but not full-blown gunky), and the wicks are absolutely pristine with no darkening. There was never any off-taste when I wicked it, meaning I don't seem to have used too much rayon. Is the after-burn related to my wicking, or just using a lot of thick wire? If anything, it seems like maybe a bit less density might help, but I'm not sure. The after-burn is my only complaint, so I'm not really in a rush to rewick.
I've got a plume veil (also chuff'd) running 0.44ohm 26ga dual coils, also 2mm ID, that's like a commando vape: Instant heat, no after-burn, and generally a silent fog machine. So I'm definitely getting better with rayon, but don't have the sub-ohm/high-power experience to diagnose what's up with the after-burn.
